Because the bureaucratic system of medical services in America is very long and inefficient, I still haven't managed to see an orthopedist and get an MRI of my arm three months after the possible rupture of my tendons or ligaments. I am very grateful to UA-cam for replacing the dysfunctional American medical system for me, and I am also grateful to the good doctors and specialists on UA-cam that thanks to your explanations, even without taking an MRI, I realized that I most likely have rotator cuff tear like this because apparently My orthopedist should give me an emergency visit and send me for an MRI. And now its already 3 months I suffering from pain and cannot do anything with my left arm and hand.I have to suffer for a month or two until finally, after five months of pain, they will find out what my problem is with an MRI. FYI, I live in the largest and best city in America in terms of medical services. The American medical system is really a joke. In my opinion, the title of the best doctor of the year in America should be given to UA-cam, because most Americans treat their pains through specialist doctors on UA-cam rather than waiting for months to be visited by doctors and undergo medical tests.thank you doctor🙏🌹
It is a sick joke. 😂 I cured myself of 35 years of chronic illness by researching online, because conventional doctors are totally useless, and all of the rehab that’s helped me with multiple injuries has come from UA-cam and the internet as well. I found one unconventional PT clinic that is fantastic- but they don’t take insurance because they’re unconventional and what they do is too effective, so they can’t work with insurance because then they’d be like every other pt clinic that isn’t effective.
I've had the same shoulder and neck problem for going on 8 years, and after seeing numerious people including PT I'm just now learning thanks to a wonderful therapist that I have a very high chance of infraspinatus damage in the shoulder. Why none of the other doctors before could tell me that I have no clue. But she said it could also could refer pain back to the neck making a hot mess lol. Now that I'm investigating in the right direction a lot of things are making sense.
@@GoldenAuraAlchemist Our medical system is no longer set up to treat patients. I spent 20 years getting shafted by it before I got a lot more help from a nutritionist for chronic health issues than I ever did from many doctors and that was the final straw. I have handled my own medical problems, and those of my friends and family, by doing as much research as I can on my own for the last 10 years and gotten much better results.
I'm old and have been dealing with the USA Medical system (which is still "cash & carry" for the most part) I think you have been fooled into thinking that socialized gov't. medicine is somehow better. Well it's not - and it never will be. Go talk to some Canadians about it! There are EXCELLENT insurance plans out there. And the old adage, "you get what you pay for" is still 100% the TRUTH. Furthermore, the BETTER DOCTORS will naturally attract to the BETTER PAYING INSURANCE PLANS - EVERY TIME. Just like the creme rises to the top of unpasteurized whole milk. If YOU had gone to medical school for TWELVE YEARS and invested millions of dollars into your education, wouldn't YOU want the patients with the top-grade health coverage?? Let's not be naive here. This is the real world. If you have one of those crummy, Obamacare "health plans" that the Demoncrats have bamboozled everyone into thinking they did such a 'WondERFUL' thing for them by getting the government involved in selling Health Insurance (That's basically ALL that happened with Obamacare: Now the US Gov't is another middle-man involved in the business of health care --- making those cheap health plans FUBAR.) I'm sorry if this comment seems a little rough on you, but it's time for people in the USA to stop believing in the fairy-tales from immature socialists who stupidly believe 'The Government' and government over-reach is the answer to our problems. Socialized medicine is the worst, most illogical, response to general health care that we could ever dream up. 😖😣
The 5th one is the test that hurts the most for me. I've been to 3 orthopedic surgeons. I've been fighting w/ shoulder and various joint pain for DECADES. Arthritis runs in my genetics. Just from common usage, the joints develop bumpy arthritis - that in turn slowly wears at those stretched muscles that go across your 'ball joint'. Next, the tears start. Just THINK what it must have been like for our ancient, cave-dweller, mammoth hunter relatives when they got these wear-n-tear injuries on their important joints - but had NO, zero, options to fix or repair it. And if you were the chief hunter with a torn-up rotator cuff and arthritic shoulder.... you risked losing status within the group.
Hi Tim, I'm currently working on my undergrad at the University of Texas and am interested in PT School. I was wondering what your thoughts are regarding a DPT and PhD. graduate program. Do you think a PhD. in Physical Therapy holds enough value to go through another 2-3 years of schooling after receiving the DPT, and do you think a teaching profession in Physical Therapy is a quality career to look into?
No real pain and discomfort on any of the 5 tests. I have a pain coming from my left shoulder that came after doing a bunch of rowing exercises in the gym, I'll just rest it for now and see if there's any improvement.
That's your shoulder's way of telling you that you did WAY too much! Also, 'Modern Man' is so naturally OUT of shape! We don't get enough normal exercise driving to work and sitting at a computer. Our bodies still want us to be hunter-gatherer's. Sigh. Also, there's some real compelling data that what we eat (or don't eat) has a LOT to do with the flexibility of our muscles and tendons.... then, add the component of GENETICS. Yikes. Do you have grandparents with a lot of arthritis and/or rheumatism, bursitis, etc??
I did all the tests and felt no pain, yet still have shoulder pain when throwing. What should I look into next since it doesnt seem like rotator cuff? I dont have insurance rn so cant get seen

Omg this is painful for me I’ve gotten pain shots nothing helps with pain I get a mri in 4 days hopefully I can last that long i tried ur tips my arm was shaken so bad it’s extremely painful now.
I think I should see a doctor. I hurt my shoulder a few days ago playing basketball. I could do the empty can, drop arm and lift off tests with minimal to no pain, but the lag test and infraspinatus test caused immense pain and my arm to drop both times. Couldn’t hold the positions whatsoever.
I can't do any of these tests, I can't lift my arm very far. I was fine one day, the next severe shoulder pain and sleeping was a nightmare. This happened a day after playing basketball.
Thank you! I passed all 5 tests but my shoulder still hurts 11 weeks after it was (anterior) dislocated when I got attacked and tackled on pavement. I have a 90% tear in my supraspinatus but can do all these. Yes pain is there but zero weakness. I guess 20 years of badminton and 30 years after that sport climbing makes your shoulders very strong.
@@ava.artemisthanks for reply! In which state did you to that unconvential PT may I have their address , name and phone number too?! Thank you🙂
I've had the same shoulder and neck problem for going on 8 years, and after seeing numerious people including PT I'm just now learning thanks to a wonderful therapist that I have a very high chance of infraspinatus damage in the shoulder.
😖😣
Very helpful and to the point. Thank you.
I heard swinging the arm, while walking lets say is beneficial healing for this.
The 5th one is the test that hurts the most for me. I've been to 3 orthopedic surgeons. All have told me I need surgery but my insurance has to denied me needing surgery and says I just need physical therapy. I have appealed them and they just deny it again because their doctors the have look at my case agree with them because they are on their payroll.
Great video! Positive on all tests.... Now what...
Great information, Thank you for this video.
Hi Tim, is it possible for a rotator cuff injury to feel almost like I'm getting a heart attack, I've been to countless doctors and they all say my heart is excellent.
Yes. I have chest pain with mine.
This video and information provide is amazing, thank you!!
Thanks! How test for lmpigment please!
Tests #3 and #5 hurt me immensely (pain began a few months ago); but I have zero pain with the other 3 tests. Which exercises can I do to remedy this pain? I’ll try to answer my own question by watching your other videos. Thanks!
I also failed test 3 and couldn't do test 5 at all (can't go behind my back) after a car accident. 😢😢😢
Awesome video and explanation! Thank you!
The first one is for me. Plus raising my hand straight up hurts more which you don't have that one.just call it the Superman.
i found myself struggling to do raises in the gym so the empty can test is the only problem I have but idk what to do to make it go away, I would like for someone to give me an instruction to make the pain go away and thank u doc
I have tendinitis and tissue damage in my right rotator cuff and pulled trapezius also on right side massage therapy and physiotherapy hasn’t been helping everything is getting worse what do I do
great graphics for a layman to understand better. :)
Very useful thanks for the tips ! 👌🏽
I did all the tests and I had no problem it just hurts when I lift and after
what if you have a lot of pain with all of these tests, but the pain is in the bicep muscle area, not the shoulder?
Thank you for the video!
Saw my Dr a few years ago because of my worsening shoulder pain-I was told it was basically nothing but I could have prescription of pain pills.
Haven’t slept for days because the pain is so bad, just failed all five tests and looking for a new Dr 😂😂😂
And if you were the chief hunter with a torn-up rotator cuff and arthritic shoulder.... you risked losing status within the group.
all signs on my shoulder positive weakness especially!!! ughhhh i have no work for jan and first two weeks of feb. rest and repair.
All of these are so painful!!! all of this happened after the nurse jammed the needle in for my pneumonia shot! I told her it was too high
One of ur tests I can't even put my arm behind my back what is that a sign of please ?
Did it get better? I have something similar
@@zooli9 Most of the pain went away within the first day or two, I had some discomfort at work but it seems to be mostly better now.
Great information. To the point.
Doc 3 quarters of the test shown are positive on my shoulder
I Feel it in the lift off test alot
I have a dull pain in my shoulder, not that bad, but don't want it getting any worse. This is from heavy weights at the gym.
I passed all tests, have motion and strength, just a little pain, so i guess not torn.
My shoulder doesn’t hurt. The pain is between the bicep and tricep. It happened when throwing bags of mulch around.
I passed all the test but sometimes I move my arm I have a small pain in my shoulder is it simple tear then how much days should I rest from workout
I think I had this occur form lateral raises, but I'm not 100% sure. It makes me tempted to go from free weights back to machine weights.
My suspicion as well. The only pain was from the empty can test. Everything else was fine
All I correct thanks
Passed the 4 test. Failed the last one. Impóssible, very acute pain, when trying to make this back medial rotation.
All of those movements hurt but i was able to do them. I had xrays and was treated for a shoulder sprain. Its been about 4 weeks now and my movement is back but still terrible pain
Pretty sure my infraspinatus is toast….
😂
Is your infraspinatus healed
Did it heal? I heard it can take a year or longer. Ugg
you guys didn't get what he meant by that! 😂
Yeah I failed three of those tests and now I'm in pain damn you inferspinatus
Saving this for when I hurt something next. My latest hobby, as a paraplegic, seems to be finding new ways to hurt my overworked shoulders. Yeehaw.
I can't do any of these tests, I can't lift my arm very far. I was fine one day, the next severe shoulder pain and sleeping was a nightmare.
This happened a day after playing basketball.
I'm suffering from no.4 only. The pain isn't that deep but still is noticeable.
i dislocated my right shoulder three times and im trying this and i didnt struggle at all the test
Thank you! I passed all 5 tests but my shoulder still hurts 11 weeks after it was (anterior) dislocated when I got attacked and tackled on pavement.
Mine hurts if I reach overhead and then rotate down to extend my arm. Around 11:00 it seizes up. Hurts to sleep on. Really hurts to do the first pushup but then I can do 20 or so.
I definitely have #1
