Ahhh, maintaining our languages... Sometimes it feels more challenging than acquiring the language Great tips anyway! Living the language is the key (in my opinion at least)
Congratulations! Reading in German is difficult and as it seems you've chosen a pretty difficult book for an intermediate learner. If you feel too overwhelmed, don't worry. There are amazing graded readers for German that could give you an easier start. I'm maintaining and developing 5 languages right now. 4 of them are on an advanced level but sometimes I just would like to dedicate more time to just one language.
@@amstabomitdembabo5984 Yeah, I definitely chose a challenging book. It's been getting a little easier after I struggled with the first few pages, thankfully! I totally feel you with wanting to sometimes just dedicate all of your time to one language
Loved your advice on learning 2 languages at the same time. I had started learning Japanese but still at beginner level, but I also want to get into Spanish. I've decided to delay working on Spanish till my Japanese becomes really good for now. Thank you!
I learn 5 languages at the same time. From my experience, it is not the same-family languages that I get confused, but the languages that I started learning simultaneously at a similar level. For instance, despite the fact that japanese and spanish are completely different, I seem to confuse them the most. That's because I've been acquiring them hand in hand. Though, de vez en cuando son en serio muy parecidas :D. Probably because, japanese incorporates a lot of english and spanish vocabulary using kana.
I'm learning korean for my own now and I'll start a french class in about 2 weeks. As my mother language is portuguese, there is not much material to learn korean in that language, but in english theres a lot! So I'm learning korean through english and I noticed that I learned SO MUCH english vocab doing that. I think that this is a great tip for someone that's already confortable with one language and want to start learning a new one! And thank you for these amazing videos! I realized that I can learn multiple languages, it is not that impossible, It just require discipline and desire to learn.
