That was very informative and i will be trying out this method and i just hope it turns out as good as yours which looked delicious.... Thanks for posting
Perfect! The only thing I wouldn't do is cook it in a slow cooker. Everything becomes wayy too mushy. I like to do it over the stove. So that the rice isn't toosoft or too hard. Does this recipe make it taste like salty pork congee? I tried some at SF in California and it was delicious.

How much water do you use? In the video you say 6 cups of water but in the recipe, it states 12 cups water under the picture. Please clarify. Thanks

May I ask why must the pork be soak with salt for such a Long time ?
What is the purpose of that?
the pork will become more tasty . :)
because the saltiness of the salt will go in the pork. you rinse the pork so the salt outisde will be washed off but the taste inside will be salty
Think of it as a pseudo brine
thank you!

Too much wastage of water. It's precious conserve it.
The cured lettuce isn't rinsed before it's added to the dish? Cool!

yes, most of the salt is gone along with lettuce juice. :)
婆婆你好嗎?
I can say it's your own way making congee, but it's definitely not Hong Kong style / recipe. In fact, you're misleading
