I am a huge fan of Chris De Burgh, but i've never seen this video before. WoW... pure heartstopping WoW! And when the crowd started bellowing out the chorus... Yikes! It's one of those precious, goosebump-inducing "F**k, I'm glad to be alive" moments...
As relevant and moving today, especially today of all days, 24 February 2022, as it ever has been. "But these are only boys, and I will never know How men can see the wisdom in a war."
Great song this is,,, so much emotion. What a singer Chris deburgh really is. We've strayed so far from this type of talent. Nowadays if you look the part you've got it 🤔 Sad really. Bring out the men and women who can really sing and transport a human being to a place in time were it really hits home,, Not because of what they look like,,,,looks will fade with time, but that voice, my word. Let the people sing who can sing no matter there race, no matter there looks
@boklam couldn't agree with you more friend, i'm standing at the station waiting for my soldier to come home, he's been away nearly 5 months now. Our daughters keep asking why does daddy keep going away, does he not love us. I tell them your daddy loves you very much, he will be home soon it's just his job, he's trying to make the world a better place for everybody. So yes i couldn't agree more BRING OUR BOYS HOME
Hi everyone, I would like your help, please This song was a song the end of the film, from, 70s or 80s I would like to find the name of the movie and if possible a link for this movie thanks, I searched many online no results, thanks in advance for your help.
This emotional song reminds of the times when I used to cross checkpoints during Lebanon's civil war in order to meet a girl I loved and I'm still loving...! But then the war broke out in the region where I lived and as a result I had to flee Lebanon for good and never saw her again...!
I’m so sorry :( I’ve been thru two wars, Jordan and Lebanon: I was very young but I still remember the feeling of being unsafe and fearful for my family.
My love was not for a person but it was just the same. I remember occupation of my country's capital. I was just a child and I was scared. Later I fled, now I'd like to return but who knows. Sometime, crossing the border the other way is harder
Zeinoun your story puts tears into my eyes. My father was a casualty of the Korean war and I never knew him and like yourself I have been separated from the love of my life. I totally respect the fact that you have continued to love the girl you lost. I do the same with mine as well. With love and solidarity from England.
I wish I ever had a chance to tell Chris how his songs affect me. To me this song is personal. And this concert version is even better than any other:)
This makes me so sad, I love it tho!! My daughter is 16 now, her dad never really met her and this was "our" song. He missed so much, and died before he could realise how wonderful and special she is xxx
Brings me back to the 80s when i had not a care in the world loved to listen to chris his songs always touched me and send me into another time storys and tales music like that is not around today.
Few people here know him (I'm from Jordan in the Middle east), I wish he would come and perform here one day .... We need such hope ... a promise of "no borderline" This song has been with me since I was 19 ... and it's been places since ...
If your still in Jordan or how in life you are now, It amazed me seeing your msg, I grew up in Ireland and lots of christie burgh stuff here, you need anything like a poster, let me know,,peace
Chris De Burgh must be one of the best songwriters this world has ever seen. Anyone who doubts this should take the Crusader album, put it on in a dark room and listen. Up to, and including, The Getaway there wasn't a bad song recorded. Lady In Red was the end of the songwriting talent as he suddenly realised he could make vasts sums of money from mushy pop songs and didn't need to write meaningful songs anymore as the homegenous slush song lovers would pay his salary..
Absolute CLASSIC... Even now in 2019.... Are you here to listen to the REAL ‘ORIGINAL’... C de B... before he became.... COMMERCIAL? This performance... was OUTSTANDING 👏🏻
Sean Oakes After 2008 i stopped listening to his new albums despite the fact that the last good album for me was Quite revolution. I have great memories with his old albums and don’t wanna ruin it with what u called commercial.
this chap use to live out the road from me in dalkey in ireland seen him on the beach one day fishing and having a beer i went over to say hello to him and he offered me a beer a gentleman with a great voice
The man is an Icon, just like Cat Stevens, Gordon Lightfoot, Jim Croce that don't get the media hype because they are regular super talented people. I have been waiting for the day I can see him live in concert..Peace to All ...as he said there is no wisdom in War.
I hear Chris for round about 15 Years now and he inspired me in so many ways. I saw him a couple of times live in Frankfurt and must say he is one of the best Entertainer in history of Music. "....if you need a light in a lonly night, carry me like a fire in your heart."
People just dont appreciate his writing AND singing genius. He is so great
Seen him do this live , got to be one of the best performances of any artist I’ve ever seen
A classic song from a classic artist, and a superb CD it comes from, ( the getaway).

so beautiful. When my brother died, I felt I got stopped at the borderline. I wish there was none. It makes me so sad.
Chris De Burgh wrote this song about another war but also so apt for today. Why do young men have to fight old mens wars?
