A sentimental Bring Me The Horizon aura vibes!
I can see why this band blew up, it’s that perfect blend of radio friendly metal and electronic influences. What I will give this album credit for is how I’m equally enjoying both sides of the sound.
Electropop-synthpop ballads, every once in a while, a band or album comes along and gives a genre a new push, a new expanded fanbase, a new sense of identity. This album played that part well in early 2022. From the time this album came out, Metalcore, Alt. Metal and Pop-Metal took a turn. Bad Omens used to be just another Metalcore band, who stood out due to lead vocalist Noah Sebastian’s distinct vocal talents. However, this record (The Death of Peace of Mind) put them in a new light as they improved in every sense. On the other hand, The band has finally forged a sound of their own (sure, albeit one inspired by Bring Me The Horizon), and it shows in the confidence they have in their songwriting this time, which is no longer a mash of predictable metalcore motif but something I can finally identify as “Bad Omens”.
'Nowhere To Go' The lyrical matter reflects the protagonist going back to his old habits and telling someone that they're in fact the ones in control. It's all very vague and generic. We eventually learn what these bad habits are or how the protagonist hopes to overcome them, so let's just move on.
