I haven’t tired doing this since I became an adult, but when I was in school with the original Digimon I use to disassemble and also take the background out to replace with those 3d hologram Digimon cards you got in chip packets.
I’ve had a resin 3d printer for about a year and I finally thought it would be cool to print my own shells. I printed a smoked black clear and a glass clear and they look awesome. Seeing the color of the board is super awesome. Problem I’m running into that’s pretty huge is that if the pins on the screen don’t line up perfectly, as I’m sure you know, causes major issues.. so I’m currently trying to iron out those kinks. But for the moment I have some really cool clear backs on my devices since they don’t effect screen position. I’m really surprised there aren’t any people out there doing this.. or at the very least not putting it on UA-cam
That’s awesome! I’ve seen one or two people making their own shells, it’s such a precise science for sure. I’m sure you’ll get it nailed soon enough 💪🏻
@@DigitalDream09 I finally got it after I made some minor adjustments to the model and did some work arounds to prevent warping. It’s beautiful. Also took 3 days of letting it drip dry the excess resin and a bit of filing to make the pieces fit. The model I got had some major faults causing screen alignment problems. But I’ve been rocking the case for 3 days now and I love it. Super cool
That was quite informative great video, it actually gave me a good insight on how to clean the shell when the device gets dirty, i noticed my blue DM20 device collected some dust around the screws and in the gap between the screen and the frame and it was pain to clean due to how small the space is and how it could probably damage the screen
I'm kind of thinking about switching out the frames and buttons of my black & white digimon 20th giving the white omegamon colors and the black one in alphamon colors even have a gold chain to go with the alphamon one.
I was thinking of doing that with the one I just ordered. I think acrylics would likely work better than markers, both due to the small size of the cracks, and due to the success I've had with custom painting other toys. If you have a shaky hand, though, I'd assume any fine tip permanent marker would work okay.
i have the "purple" X1 and im thinking on getting the black and red one, take the red buttons from that and put them in the "purple" one so it actually has, purple with red X and red buttons/cage, instead of the all over the place, purple, orange, red, is gonna be great, ty for the video!!~~~
Nice tutorial bro and those are some digitastic mods! 😁🤘 When moding the Japanese ones it gets a little tricky because the speaker is mounted to the back of the shell.
Hi man, I've got a dumb question. The Digimon 20th needs you to mash the A button for training and battles. How's the quality of these buttons? Can they break or wear out from normal use in time or are they made to resist that mashing?
Not a dumb question at all! I’ve never known the buttons being an issue on the Digimon 20th devices, and mine have had some real hammer. Some of the old ones can get this issue, but usually it’s more dust and muck building up over a very long time. It shouldn’t be anything to worry about with the Digimon 20th/X 👍🏻
If the tightness is very tight, and the screen still normal, is there any chances to have a problem in the future, like for a durability for the LCD? I m very afraid of it
Any tutorial how to change the speaker and were to get the right one? On my new Digimon X i noticed that almost every beep in the main menu is raspy, its annoying.. is this a common issue? battery is new.
Awesome video! This made me curious could you use the reset button as a pause button? Because you can load where you left off, or could that cause problems?
If so, can we like spray paint the pieces and insert them back in? No Digimon V-Pets has a silver frame and buttons for my silver Digimon X 2. But wouldn't silver and translucent blue look so good together? Anyways, the video was awesome! I luckily had both the V-Pets to try it out. 😊
I’ve never painted a vpet personally, but I’ve seen tonnes of painted ones online! I’d say just be careful not to layer it too thick so that it all still slots back together. Thanks for the comment and the support 🙏🏻❤️
I have that same screwdriver set that I bought for this exact purpose. I successfully opened my yellow DM20 as practice. But I have unfortunately stripped the screws on the green device I was hoping to customize and idk what to do about it. The rubber band trick is just not working. It kind of took the wind out of my sales for customization.
I deal with stripped precision screws by putting fast dry superglue in them and running the screw in and out until it dries tight but not so tight that the screw is stuck
Not sure if this is exclusive to the English X2 or just the specific one I got, but the screws are extraordinarily tight compared to the X and Ver.20th's screws So much so that it caused damage when I tried to put the fear of god into it Sigh...
Ummm, what you do is just swapping buttons & frames. What I'm curious is, can you swap the board on Digimon X to Digimon 20th shell? B'cos, I bought Digimon XC (navy) and planning to change the shell to glow in ghe dark shell from Digimon 20th.
Just a shame you can't put a japanese 20th shell on an english one easily due to the sound being on the board diffirently. I would of loved to have the gold japanese shell on my english board. Best i did was make the brown/red one proper english style with black lock and buttons. Also the 20th buttons work in the classics. So if anyone has buttons in theirs which are knackered putting 20th ones in can bring it back to its full glory.
Why the Digivice or the V Pet screen are easy to scratched??? So sad and dissapointed to Bandai. I got the X Version 1 Red Version, X2 Silver Blue, X2 Red Gold, 20th Ver Yellow, and Also Pendulum Z Nature Spirits, but they are so easily scratched! What a week screen for an expensive V Pets.. 😢 @bandai

Thanks I followed your video to mod an X to have change buttons, frame and a ver-20th background card. I'm very happy with it!

Nice idea, I might give this a go with some of mine... Now to pick a good colour combination
😃yes a new video
This is sick! Love the whole black with the red X. Nice! The red and white remind me of the air Jordan 1 heritage.
Thank you dude!
I did not know the newer vpets have the speaker on the board
Awesome tutorial and customisations, good sir! Such a nice simple way to add some unique combinations to your devices. 😊👍 Thanks for sharing.
Thank you dude! Yeah it’s super simple but really effective so I thought it’d be a useful video to some people 👌🏻 cheers mate

Cool stuff! It's good the video is short and to the point so people can follow it
Thank you! Yeah I wanted to show how quick and easy it is to do, no need to make it a feature length video imo. Glad you like it dude!
The white and red one looks awesome, it's like a Dukemon device lol
You’re right! Maybe I’ll switch the buttons for some yellow ones to imitate the Dukemon pen20 👌🏻

Have you decided to color in the cracks of the front and back pieces of the virtual pet? If so, what marker are you using?
I haven’t done that before so I’m not sure what to recommend, sorry
