- My new M1 Macbook Pro arrived in the mail today... Happy that we're able to get it here in Singapore so quick!
The one I got was the base spec Macbook Pro, with 8GB Ram and 256GB SSD.
Here are it's specs:
- Apple M1 chip with 8-core CPU, 8-core GPU and 16-core Neural Engine
- 8GB unified memory
- 256GB SSD storage
- 13-inch Retina display with True Tone
- Magic Keyboard
- Touch Bar and Touch ID
- Force Touch trackpad
- Two Thunderbolt / USB 4 ports
Pretty excited to share this unboxing experience with you guys.
I decided to go for the Macbook Pro instead of the Air because I realized that Apple devices generally have a super long lifespan. My previous Air lasted 6 long years, and I did not really want to have to think "how does a Macbook Pro work better" again for such a long time!
I have found the following differences between the new M1 Pro & Air:
- Pro has a touchbar
- Pro has Studio Mics (quite good. I tested it against the wired mic and it produced good sound)
- Pro has a fan for better thermal cooling
Think that's pretty much it!
Please tell about the heating issue 😬
So far seems okay. The Macbook Pro (as compared with the Air) comes with a fan, which means better thermal cooling.
thank you!! :D
Very cool and I’m glad you got one, it’s good for the soul to see someone get something they’ve wanted and appreciate it as well, I ’m trying to save up enough to get one to.,.let’s us know how it is now that you have one. Thanks for sharing and enjoy your new mac
It's pretty awesome! You're right, there's quite a sense of satisfaction to save up and successfully get something you really want.
Buy from the EDUCATIONAL version of Apple to receive the student discount
Good tip 😊
Super video man .. add some app opening speed tests.. Android Studio, Xcode, Unity need to be tested
Thank you for the video. If possible could you please run a virtual machine like Parallels on the new macbook and see if there are issues to run Windows on this new M1 chip. I am looking to buy a new laptop and would help me a lot.
why are the accesories so different than the regular ones ?? i think it is fake ?
Can you run Microsoft office to this?
Yes, I just installed Microsoft Office 365 and it works well.
can it run vs code or any coding app?
The only coding I do is simple html, with Brackets. Seems to work fine so far.
Outstanding Unboxing Video of Your Amazing New Apple M1 Chip MacBook Pro, It Looks Like you love it...😝😝👻👻👽
Hello! Which country are you from? I’m from Malaysia and it’s not available yet. I CAN’T WAIT!
Hi Reuben, I'm from your neighbouring Singapore!
Niceeee! Can you give us a review? 😍😍
Is 256 GB SSD enough for college students (pro variant)
Or should go with the 512gb SSD of macbook air m1
Please clear my confusion
Btw nice video and love from INDIA 🇮🇳🇮🇳
Hey Goutam, thanks for your kind words!
I think 256gb is enough for school, considering most of your lecture notes/texts are probably PDF/PPT/Doc.
Something I did back in Uni was to dump old module files into the free 1TB OneDrive that came with my uni email, so that also saved me some space. Though I just did that to organise my laptop and get rid of old files.
Even without the OneDrive though, I didn't remember having a space constraint problem even with my old 128gb MacBook Air back when when I was in school. So 256gb should be good!
@@kohedwin thanks for your quick response ❤️❤️❤️
Loads of love and support 👍👍
Hiw is the performance in lightroom and Photoshop?
For the people who ask for the size you can activate AIRPLAY in your Mac and share the screen of your Mac with wifi to a Tv. I share my MacBook m1 with my tv 75 inch.
Plz tell its performance on premiere pro as its not fully optimised ? Its beta version . Plz reply .
Please tell me
Is the 13 inch screen so small
It's fine actually, I'm quite used to the 13 inch screen size, considering my previous device was also the 13 inch Macbook Air (2014)
Hi ,
My name is Shan. I am 15 years old. Now I am using a 2016 HP laptop which always gives me problems. So I need help from you. Please tell me whether will the laptop supports with all the features that is given below.
MY WORK .........

> UA-cam watching
> Small programming ( Scratch and etc )
> Files transferring

@@shan0063 Hi Shan, I think Macs are pretty good for students. They are super lasting (my old Mac Air lasted 6 years and worked great!), and with the new M1 Macs, I'm certain you'll be able to do video editing, watch videos, surf the web, etc. Those definitely are possible, and I am confident a Mac Pro or Air would suit you perfectly. In fact, I recommend you watch Ali Abdaal's video on the Air for students here: ua-cam.com/video/sJeWfYLawaQ/v-deo.html
So if you are interested, I'd also recommend you perhaps get the new Macbook Air?
I'm not sure if you are keen to move from Windows to Mac though, considering that you're currently using a HP laptop. When I first moved to a Mac, I had a hard time transitioning, and till today, I still maintain a Windows PC for work.
Can I get a MacBook Pro 13 with M1 chip
But my only mind thought is Is the 13 inch screen so small to use
Please reply me for this ☝️
@@shan0063 Of course you can. Actually I have no complains whatsoever about the 13 inch screen, in fact I quite like it, even as I am using it into the night with the dark mode. Well, if you ever needed a bigger screen, can consider plugging the device into an external monitor.
Please check photoshop and battery test
I don't use photoshop.
For the battery, it seems pretty good so far! Of course I haven't had it for 18 hours, but looking at my first few hours of use, it seems likely that >10 hours should not be a challenge.
Go tests!
Dude, after install apps is it 256gb enough for you
more than enough.
Can you please tell us if it runs developers' applications like VScode, pycharm and etc?
Vs code - No electron application
great video, can you play some games ? have a great day, regards from sweden
Yes, especially with more games from the App Store with the ability to run iPad/iPhone apps.
Can you also download linux OS and does it have bootcamp ?
Think this answers the bootcamp question: www.theverge.com/2020/6/24/21302213/apple-silicon-mac-arm-windows-support-boot-camp
I'm not sure about Linux. Seems unclear now.
Did u use usb-c hub for mac? What brand did u recommended?
Hi there! I'm getting the ugreen usb-c hub. It hasn't arrived yet, but I saw the reviews and it seemed okay.
Is 8gb enough for computer science college student? Or should I go for 16gb?
So far I've been pretty impressed with the 8gb, no lags whatsoever. Price for 16gb is a little steep for me, and I'm not even a student!
@@kohedwin i don't really know what to do 😞 I'm planning to keep it for 1 year + college, but I'm going to buy a pc gaming in a couple of years so that Ill keep the air in a good condition, but atm idk what to buy. Many people recommend me 16, others say that it's fine with 8gb 😞
@@choun2050 if u were to ask me I would say 8 gb of ram should be sufficient unless your doing heavy editing and intensive ram required stuff if not 8gb should be fine for any other people.
@@osamusonigiri5027 Okay tysm! :)
Is 8 gb ram enough?
Yes indeed.
Does docker run?
why the box is unusually thick?
For cargo safety while delivery I guess. Macs are precious items!
For context, last week my home bought a washing machine and because the cardboard box was pretty thin, the machine came dented and my dad sent it back to the store.
nice!!!
Will it runs Adobe products like premiere/ae etc?
It should
Is 8GB RAM enough? How is the memory usage compared to previous-gen MacBook? Does it consume less or equal amount of memory because I find my previous-gen MacBook Pro with 8GB insufficient for my use, and was hoping the M1 chip to be more efficient and manage the memory better
I would say it’s enough. My iPad Pro has 4gb of ram and you can edit and play 4K video without any issues
@@jbe6697 I agree. Apple silicon is really good at resource management.
Since it’s only 4 port that to c type what can be done .
And also can we run other applications of Microsoft because my uni uses teams software of Microsoft
Yes, no problems running MS Teams, and the whole office suite.
