I had a video suggestion, if you could make a video where you showed how to start doing nails at home with the proper tips and something that last for weeks, how to get started for a beginner and recommend products which can be accessible everywhere that would be AMAZING.

Gorgeous design, James!! ☺It's true that chrome powder is a bit tricky to master and I've struggled a lot with it myself 😭so I wanted to share my process from one nail enthusiast to another:
1. Apply matte top coat on the whole nail + cure
2. Paint the designs + cure
3. Apply chrome powder
4. Seal the chrome elements with non-wipe top coat with a liner brush + cure (= it prevents powder from going anywhere)
5. Wipe the surplus of chrome powder off the nail with cleaner liquid on a lint free wipe
6. Apply glossy top coat all over the nail or just on the matte parts + cure
There are also non wipe painting gel that work very well with chrome power (e.g. MPA's non-wipe liner and painting gel), it makes the designs more visible too when you draw them 💗

Red iguana makes a GORGEOUS CHROME
Hey James! So happy to see this new channel of yours! For chrome detailing I go in with a matte top coat first, use a detail brush with my preferred shiny top coat, then rub on the chrome powder. Use a fluffy brush to dust off excess powder after curing and use detail brush again to go over the chrome sections (or top coat the whole nail, depending on the look). The matte top coat wont hold on to the chrome powder and also makes it easy to see where your detailing is. Hope this helps!

Love it James! If you buff the nail before you put on the design gel, the chrome won't stick to the buffed part, chrome sticks to shiny areas.

@@neophytenails maybe use gel cleanser after buffing? I don't see too much difference in chromes myself. I like Morovan top coat, also Beetles.
The buffing has worked for me but it has to be well buffed, so I tend to put a thin base/top coat then buff so I can buff well without bugging off my color/design. Not all tips and tricks work all the time it’s a lot of trial and error lol! But you are doing amazing!

The design is so pretty but also kind of edgy with the chrome! Great job. I personally like Whats Up Nails chrome powder. They sell it on Amazon. You get more product than the cheaper chrome powders. They also have some really cool effects in that brand as well.

Awesome!! You can also use solid nail gel to kinda form that around the edges. Also if you want larger, truly lint free wipes you can use wax strip paper things and cut them to size. Or enail couture has nice ones that are bigger and gorgeous full cover nails with high apexes

I've been watching your skincare, Roberts make up and the twins channel for quite a long time now and I know you mentioned doing nail content and I am sooo happy you are. Those nails, I am seriously impressed with your artistic eye, I don't know about technique because like you I just want to create and I'm not professional but I will be tuning in. I love short, sharp and pointy claws and I love the mylar/shattered glass design. I've used the powder before but it wasn't as impactful as yours. I don't really watch creators because I just don't feel any vibe but I've always loved your vibe so I'm all in ❤️

I think you should ask Robert if he has some chromatic shadows to sacrifice for nail science reasons. Tri/multi chromes turned out best on my lacquer mani.
I haven't done gel (aside from magnetic as a topper) for a long time because I want to build out length...but I work with my hands a lot. So next nail purchase is going to be some full tips to use as press-ons 😊
I use a matte top coat before I start my chrome steps, the powder doesn’t stick to the matte areas so it’s much easier to do without making a mess

I've been trying to do this liquid metall stuff with no-wipe top coat for so long and it's just not the right consistency! thank you so much for the tip with the thicker gel :) I want to make it very small, detailed and stringy like little messy chains. I love how yours turned out, even though your "chains" are a bit bolder :) I would have removed some chrome powder from the deepest points/holes to create a little more dimension and detail, but its just personal preference

If you dont like the design of the cateye gel, just brush through its again with the bottle brush 😊 it completely resets it.
I love this design! I struggles with chromepowders myself. What i did once was powder the whole nails and only top coat the design i wanted. And after curing wipe away the chromepowder with cleaner. But i have also heard people putting on a matt topcoat on the parts they didnt want chromed. Apparently this makes it not stick to the nail. I haven’t tried this method yet, because I haven’t gotten the chance to do my nails yet.

Just yoink one of Robert's unloved metallic/chrome eyeshadow palettes from his keepitfixitdumpits.
I honestly depotted, put into a magnetic palette, and used the pretty shades in palettes that looked awful on my skin, or didn't perform well on my eyes, and they make BEAUTIFUL rubbing powders, plus they don't have as much fallout as the loose pigments do when using a sponge applicator. Also, they make micro applicators, so you probably could get more precision with those and less fallout if you want to keep playing with loose chromes.
Lint-free purpose wipes are like... no, thanks, good quality paper towels all the way 😂

I bought the brand madam glam, because of my gel alergy. I tried Hema free and still had a reaction. But this brand I have had no reaction. I only got the base coat, bilder gel and topcoat. And I used my regular gel polish colors. And I added a latex barrier to my fingers. Hope this helps ❤️
Kokoist has released a liquid chrome that looks pretty amazing and incredibly shiny unfortunately it sold out right away but they are restocking so that might be an option.

I’m allergic to normal polish 😭 I get contact dermatitis from them 😭 but when I wasn’t, holo taco was a fave of mine!
