my local vet recommended spraying a mix of bicarb soda + water after cleaning the area of urine to mask the smell & deter pet from returning !,this in fact causes a similar stain (my bicarb mix was a little strong i believe!) i am having very good results from your suggestion, so thanx for posting TRAININGMISFIT
Tamme Tran yea but what about the smell? My dog ruined a small section in my bedroom I had to rip up the tiles and there it was that’s my my room smelled so now I gotta figure out how to clean it plus get rid of the smell
Thank you for this video, we have a Victorian house that we just removed all carpets to have our boy cats now doing their business and i tried the 4 day treatment but i was a chicken so did it lightly but took me 7 days for it to lighten up to be almost exact the other boards now. Ty for such valuable information!!
I really appreciate this video. I just bought a house and the previous owner had a dog that urinated all over the hardwood oak. I will do the same method as you but with a few slight changes. - Damp cloth with Hydrogen P. On top - Plastic Cover on top of cloth to prevent the HP from evaporating too quickly. When I am done, I'll post my video too. Once again thanks a lot! To the point and most helpful video regarding this topic on youtube.
Would you be willing to post a video, even if it's just a comparison of where you treated it, vs a normal area? I'm nervous about doing this, BUT I can't leave it looking just like his BEFORE picture, either... It's REALLY obvious that my dog had bloody pee there!
hey ,if anyone else is searching for stopping cats from spraying try Cat Recovery Tactics ( cat.RecoveryTactics.com ) ? Ive heard some amazing things about it and my work buddy got amazing results with it.
The 3% worked very slowly for me. I used creme hair developer Matrix Volume10 and still had to use several applications over a period of 3 times for 20-30 min treatments. My stains were BAD!!!!
For all cat owners - clean litter boxes daily, use unscented litter only, and if you have one cat, you should have two litter boxes, two cats = three litter boxes, four cats = five litter boxes, etc. most cats like to do number one and number two in separate boxes.
I'm jealous lol... I think if I outlive my husband (he doesn't like cats), then one day I'll get a cat again, but this time get an automatic litter box! How hard is it to change an automatic one? How often is it done?
They are the best. Mine is super easy to change, you pull out the drawer grab the bag and throw it out. I change the bag every 5 days or so... and that's with 3 cats. :)
Get the 40% w/activator from beauty salon for hair instead of wasting day after day after day then put saran wrap over it, hot damp towel then steam iron over towel to activate peroxide.
I did this with my oak floors and it worked like a charm. When I first moved into my house, my cat was a bit nervous and urinated on the woods floors in one of the upstairs bedrooms.
No, that finish has opened up -- otherwise the wood would not be affected. Just dump it on there and cover it so it doesn't evaporate. Watch carefully because it can go faster toward the end of treatment.
I have used this method but it has taken daily applications over the course of1 to 2 months. When done the area was actually lighter than the surrounding area. I have white oak engineered wood.
I tried it on unsealed wooden floor and just after one application it made the stain much lighter but the area around it became lighter too so I wish I was more careful
Drain cleaners are usually lye, which does stain wood. I don't know if the peroxide will work, but it doesn't hurt to try. Worst that happens is that it only lightens the stain and you end up having to sand it ( which was likely going to happen had you not stumbled across this video)
Hello I have 4 small dogs who sometimes pee outside the pad and it runs down my floor like a river! My question is my wood floors are old and are not finished not glossy or shiny so I dnt have black stains but it smells will this work for the smell of pee? And another question why isn’t my floor stained black? Is it because it’s not a finished floor? Because my mom only has 1 dog and her floor is stained black like in your video? But hers is finished and kinda shiny. Thanks 😊
Provided it’s a poly finish, the peroxide shouldn’t have changed it shine. Can’t speak to other types of varnishes/finishing agents. If you did some scrubbing, it’s possible to remove some of the luster. There are spray-on poly brands that you can get at a hardware store if the luster is gone, just spray - sand (with fine grade) repeat until it’s even. Slow process that should take a few days - always follow directions about dry times with poly products.
Just discovered my Siberian huskies little secret on my throw rug… pulled the rug back and my floors which are just like yours had the exact black urine stand about the same size…..”Bad Girl”
There are a few factors in cures for cat spraying. One place I discovered which succeeds in merging these is the Spray Crusher Tactic (check it out on google) it's the most incredible blueprint i've seen. Check out all the awesome info .
Yeah you think that would work but if it's cats piss honey your in for a big surprise. Your house stinks from it. I used shellac instead of polyurethane. It dries very fast and penetrates much better. You can usually apply many coats in a day.
If you have a cat, they pee in their litter box..there really is no reason one should have damage to their hardwood if you put a pad or liner down under the litter box. It's the dog pee that ruin hardwood floors..Dogs pee on carpets that soak through to hardwood or pee on hardwood itself. There is no excuse for damaged hardwoods with cats if you used a plastic litter box, pads, liners etc..
If you ever see the show "My Cat From Hell" or google "why cats spray", you'll find that cats will pee outside their litter box for several reasons.... anxiety, illness, marking their territory or a dirty litterbox just to name a few.
My floors had a fresh coat of poly and this technique worked without harming the finish. I didn't test across different brands or different types of varnishes { such as lindseed oil) - I would say try it over a week and see if you see a change. If it doesn't you might have to sand. I tried the technique in this video because I didnt want to sand a newly installed floor. If your floor was stained - don't use this technique. The whole point of using the peroxide is to lighten the tannin made by urine.Stained wood won't return to its natural color.
TRAININGMISFIT hey! Thank u! I've started the process on Saturday with a 3% HP without sanding the floor. It didn't work, so I changed to a 30% one on Sunday and is getting so much better. It's not perfect yet, but it's almost there. I would like to show u the pictures and also say thank u for this video, it helped me a lot. I was getting insane about it.
If the wood is flaking off then its damaged, better of just getting those boards replaced. My floors were new so the effected area was the top layer. The peroxide allows you to lighten the spot without having to resand and stain. It won't fix bad wood.
Do you mop up the peroxide each time you use it or do you add more every time? I have a small dog that pee on the carpet rug. The urine has stained my spotted gum wooden floor. Urine forms crystals that cause the bad odour.
I let it sit but I was careful to apply to only the dark areas. Mop up anything that gets outside your affected area otherwise it might lighten the surrounding stain.
I don't have pets but suddenly within a week my floor under a fruit trolley became like this I tried everything nothing working any other ideas ? Would damp look like that but guess Would not appear suddenly right ? So annoyed with the discolouration 😡
Not sure what caused your situation. if the HP doesn't work, sanding it will ( of course you have to poly as well). The HP is worth a go, sanding is the solution when all else fails. Likely just surface effected.
Yeah, we let it sit. The idea is to let the peroxide soak a bit just like the urine did. I've seen some people soak rags first and then lay them on the effected area - this way it doesn't evaporate easily.
What! That didn't work. Is there something wrong with your eye. I had a similar situation however, mine was much worst. The urine from my cats pissing nightmare situation saturated the wood floor and the 2 by 4 at the base of the floor.. To make things even worst it migrated into the dry wall about 1/3rd up from bottom and the substrate floor as well. The smell was vile and putrid. I mean I had to wear my respirator doing this entire process or I would vomit from the odor. All this being said it came down to 2 choices. 1 rip out the floor? No, that was a big job or. 2 cover and seal the flooring and smell. After sometime trying to find a answer I came across some info on line. Figured it can't hurt. I followed the lead and started the fixing process. Using shellac I began covering the entire area that was soaked with piss. The reason for this is shellac penetrates faster and dries much faster. This allows for a several coat application in a day. I covered the entire 2x4 base and sub floor 8 times. I then proceeded to fix the dry wall and then remove the wood floor so I could and lay the marble tile down. It came out great but the best part is that i can't smell the gross cat urine never smell again. Getting rid of two of my cats at the time helped a lot as well. Hope this helps someone out there dealing with this issue.

@@jen_217_ At the time I was referring to SCOE 10X for pet odors. There were comments here about how to get rid of pet odors. Trying to get the word out about this fabulous product. These are wood stained floors right? Would the stain be damaged in any kind of process like this? My mom is freaking out, “they’re going to have to sand it.. we have to get a whole new floor!” Ahhhh!!! Help🥺
You should be careful with dark stains because the peroxide will lighten it. If I had a dark stained floor, I'd go straight to sanding the boards with the spot and trying to find a stain match at the local hardware store. My floors had a poly finish.
No, that finish has opened up -- otherwise the wood would not be affected. Just dump it on there and cover it so it doesn't evaporate. Watch carefully because it can go faster toward the end of treatment.
I just read a post from The Boston Globe that I saved from fall of 2001 in Handyman on Call column. He used Coca Cola and said it lifted the stain right up. Have not had to try this myself but thought I would share
I'm curious too, if you or someone reading this does get a chance to test it, let us know! I would test it myself but out cat is in kitty heaven now. I think the active ingredient would be the sulfuric acid (it reacts with the sodium bicarbonate to make the bubbles). Concerned about the coloring though.
why not just use a decent stripper, lightly sand the outside edges where the old stain will meet up the new stain and just apply a new coat. lol such a small area. just go with the grain.
yeah so what. it's a 12x12 stain. why wait 4 days for couple shades lighter. ad long as you match up the stain it will blend perfect. stripper works instantly. most certainly not brain science.
@@Michael-vg1fj ...because I was trying a different low-effort approach to see if it could work. At the time I made this, sanding was all over youtube. I have sanders. I have poly. I could have done what everyone else did and chances are no one would have cared or given two shits about the results. I tried something different.
+Kristina blank There are many factors in treatments for cat spraying. One resource I discovered that successfully combines these is the Spray Crusher Tactic (check it out on google) it's the best guide that I have ever seen. look at all the interesting information .
Yeah, before watching this video I'd already read to be careful with provide, that it can bleach the floors. It's really important to do this gradually and only where it is dark!
well after 5 years of cat pee every where i just couldn't take it anymore and gave my cats up. now i am looking at a 25,000 euro new floor bill. I personally will never ever have a cat again. The smell smacks you in the face,
I don't know this person, but something I know about pets in general, if they walk in to a home where there used to be any spraying, they're going to want to, also. They might just spray on their own, at that. And when they're sick, reasoning goes out the window.
that is terrible, your cts' lose their lives or end up in a shelter bc you didn't have them checked at a vet, give them clean litter boxes to urinate in? cats are clean animals unless they are ill or don't have a responsible owner who gives them clean litterboxes to use....they are fastidious and won't use a dirty litterbox, shame on you..they deserved a better owner
Cats are not disposable. People who take on a cat or dog need to understand it is a lifetime commitment. If your child pissed on the floor and ruined it, would you give them away? Our pets' whole world is about us. They have unconditional love. Too bad you didn't. Don't get anymore pets. They feel loss and pain!!

Just use cat litter it'll soak all of it up in 1 hour!!!
You intro is blasting loud and you are so quiet
I just read a post from The Boston Globe that I saved from fall of 2001 in Handyman on Call column. He used Coca Cola and said it lifted the stain right up. Have not had to try this myself but thought I would share
I'm curious too, if you or someone reading this does get a chance to test it, let us know! I would test it myself but out cat is in kitty heaven now.
I think the active ingredient would be the sulfuric acid (it reacts with the sodium bicarbonate to make the bubbles). Concerned about the coloring though.
Stacy, there's no sulfuric acid in Coca Cola. The acid is phosphoric, but it is not a bleach.
why not just use a decent stripper, lightly sand the outside edges where the old stain will meet up the new stain and just apply a new coat. lol such a small area. just go with the grain.
.... because it was a brand new floor. Or to put it another way, why should I sand a brand new floor if I can try an alternative first?
yeah so what. it's a 12x12 stain. why wait 4 days for couple shades lighter. ad long as you match up the stain it will blend perfect. stripper works instantly. most certainly not brain science.
@@Michael-vg1fj ...because I was trying a different low-effort approach to see if it could work. At the time I made this, sanding was all over youtube. I have sanders. I have poly. I could have done what everyone else did and chances are no one would have cared or given two shits about the results. I tried something different.
Tastes great
Dude! Use gloves!
that sucks all it did was ruen my flor
What happened?
it took all he coler of my folr
I didn't want to be TOO critical..
Outstanding
Wow ! Awesome !

well after 5 years of cat pee every where i just couldn't take it anymore and gave my cats up. now i am looking at a 25,000 euro new floor bill. I personally will never ever have a cat again. The smell smacks you in the face,
a litter box would have been a lot cheaper, you fucking dumbass........
