Thank God for Spain! Thank God for Bernardo de Gálvez! This past October of 2023 the Spanish Ambassador was invited to the Yorktown victory celebration! This is a very huge step in the right direction! Spain is now being recognized for its decisive role in the American Revolution and it's key involvement of Yorktown!

Speaker seems to be misinformed around 56:00 when stating New Orleans was originally a Spanish city....in my understanding New Orleans was settled by the French in the early 1700s after its exploration and attempted settlement by LaSalle in the late 1600's. New Orleans was a French designed not Spanish designed city. The Spanish government of the American Revolution period was more of an executive/military branch placed on top of the existing French catholic settlements/institutions when Spain gained control of the area at the end of the seven years war.

You are right that New Orleans was settled by the French before the Spanish. But let see if you are able ro understand this, there was no fucking designed city by the French. When the Spanish gained thw city it was must a miaerable dump of wooden hovels. And even this one-horse town burned to ashes by a fire. The city with stone houses and balconies was designed and built by the Spanish as usual (have you ever seen balconies in France?). The fact that the city is known as a French one (the French Quartier and so on) it's just another joke of History. The Island in front of New Orleans with stone colonial constructions that desappeared with the Katrina Hurricane was the Island of the Canary people (Spanish from the Canary Islands who came to repopulate the city).

@@javierv333 I'm all for being educated but there's no need to curse And the French had plenty of designs/plans of New Orleans, I've seen them.

@@ocrow8079 please see the wikipedia page of History of New Orleans, Spanish interregnum.
As for my language, please accept my apologies for my prepotent and arrogant expression "if you are able to understand this".
Regarding "no fucking designed city by the French" it's really a rude expression but, without it being a claim in my deposition, we Spaniards tend to use curse words with no ad hominem intent.
