There is definitely some improvements, especially in lighting and color balance, but still not the "built from the ground up Forza" that we were promised...car models and a lot of the track assets are totally copy pasted from previous games

The only thing that is not built from the ground up there are most car models. Tracks, Lightning, Physics, Animations, Multiplayer are completely new and miles ahead of what there was in Forza 7. As expected, only people who haven't played previous Forza games or even this one still complain

The biggest tell on why the lighting still needs work is any red on any car. The brightest color value seems to just be RED. No specular highlights. *Jardly (Hardly) any reflections or shading but basic shadows.

One detail sorely missing from this game (that Horizon has) is backfire lighting up the car. FM23 has backfire that lights up the track behind the car, but not the car itself, which makes it feel way less powerful and dynamic. If you play Forza Horizon 4/5 in HDR during nighttime, then you really feel the car coming to life when everything lights up when fire spits out.
I like how these days it's just normal for games releasing unfinished. And we are just okay with it as long as they continue releasing updates improving it.
They all look good to me but I think they heard people whining that it looked bad and they changed the lighting back to FM7 colors and tone, trying to be different never works out lol. all they did was raise the saturation and bumped up the contrast, what hey should do is allow players to choose a preset color mode like Assetto Corsa does and allow the user to change it to their liking, win win for everyone.

Idk if its just me but real life colors arent vibrant at all. They are pretty muted, the original motorsport was muted and honestly looked like real life, the new update looks vibrant but I think it takes away that true to life look. Does it look better? Absolutely. Does it it look true to life? Not anymore.
I'm glad they're slowly realizing that the shadows are the color of the sky and not just some darkened gray-ish hue. Now for them to work on the paint shaders next.

Originally they were going for those hot and hazy summer racing days where the sun just bakes into everything harkening back to older times in racing. Now it's got a more cool blue hue with heavier saturation that seems closer to GT7 where most professional racing today is done in the cooler seasons. Both look pretty to me and appealing in their own right. In some tracks I wish they would have kept that hot and hazy look though like Maple Valley for instance. But I get it that Turn 10 had to overhaul the lighting and materials across the board for this new look.

@Inwardroom7030 it's called being realistic. Take pictures of both games on photo mode without telling anyone which game it is, 99% of people will choose GT7 as the more realistic.
The shading and shadows improved greatly, yet somehow the skyboxes went from photorealistic to cartoony and less natural looking. The current color shade mixed with the more realistic skyboxes would have made things beautiful
It has improved with the reshade, but the game still looks outdated, and it's hard to say it, but nowadays there is no update that saves the game, you have to get it right the first time or you become irrelevant a few months later. By the way, the clouds are horrible, they look like cartoons.

Lets be autocriticals. Yeah, they improved but still need to fix things. I wont to gonna lie, when they lied specially: The Gameplay style (game still arcade, it supposed to be a next gen Simulator) Its suppose to fight against the titans (AMS2, Rfactor2, AC, Iracing etc.) Not against GT7 I started hating them, specially a GT7 player, wanting seeing one of the kings of Xbox like Forza, failing their users and lying being like the last thing of the desert. more contrast, more vibrant colors... they mostly just changed some parameters in xml files, which are accessible for edit to pc users

they're basically making it look more like GT7 over time lmao
When games of the same genre, try to look realistic, they end up looking very close to each other......At first, FM (2023) tried to make a distinct look for itself, but obviously that failed horribly, so now they're differing back to current-gen realism, which naturally would make it look closer to GT7
@TooToo246 True. The funny part to me is the admission that GT7 got it right. I remember all of the console war stuff about the graphics when Forza came out but I guess the winner in that area is now clear

I wont to gonna lie, when they lied specially:
The Gameplay style (game still arcade, it supposed to be a next gen Simulator)
Its suppose to fight against the titans (AMS2, Rfactor2, AC, Iracing etc.)
Not against GT7
I started hating them, specially a GT7 player, wanting seeing one of the kings of Xbox like Forza, failing their users and lying being like the last thing of the desert. Was shameful to be honest.
