My wife and I did this for 3 years. SV Living At The Coast. This is doable and a cheaper way to live. Young people just have a hard time in So Cal. 31 foot is great for Christa. For two people I would go for 38 to 40 ft min. Note that Christa`s boat is newer and does not have bright work. (wood). This is good for lower maintenance. If you have never sailed, go get some lessons. You will see if this is for you. The price of the slip usually includes water and power.

My wife and I have many, many, many beautiful memories of being in Fort Lauderdale back in the 70’s when we were in our 20’s. Now we’re in our 70’s and married 38 years. Met her when my wife was just 19 and I was 21. Man, where do the years go? I think you would really like the show though. Dana Point Harbor!! Lol I used to live in Mission Viejo and had our Catalina 27’ right there near your slip!! 🙌🏻 Actually right by that office building in the background. Got tired of the long track we had to do to get out of the marina so we ended up moving to the other side of the bridge which made it very easy to get out of the marina! 👍🏻

I think she’s either on dock B or C on the East Basin side. Great memories of the marina and sailing to Catalina and Newport often!! 😇 I now have a Hans Christian 33’ in Puerto Rico 👍🏻

Congrats!!! Hunter 310 is a lot of boat for the size and $. I know it because I have one slipped in San Pedro. I am still trying to figure out how to put a dive compressor on it along with the power required. Enjoy your boat. Also, I have the same epropulsion electric motor.
It really is, the lay out Is incredible! that dove compressor would take so much power you’d definitely need a generator and solar I think! I’m Not an expert though! Electric motors are the best I love how quiet and light they are!

During covid, many young families-people left the city and moved out to the country.. I wish I could afford the lifestyle of a Boston apt and a small boat. It is nice to have the convenience and flexability of both. Check out Nomads w/ cabin so cute.

I solo sail also. Went with a Caliber 40 LRC and carry 212 gal of fuel and 175 gal of water with a water maker. From the pacific NW and go to Alaska summer and and to Sea of Cortez in winter. Retired so speed is not an issue A good friend from Colombia wants to go with me. Which would fun as she much younger and from a large city.
Hello Captain Christa , how far have you sailed her and how's her handling in rough weather ? I've considered buying that model and would love a first hand review from the owner and I thoroughly enjoy your channel . Be careful of mice getting aboard also .
She does okay in rough weather she has reefs but doesn’t drain as much as I’d like! I need a dodger for sure. Also I wouldn’t cruise her off shore so definitely not a blue water boat! But she’s great for coastal cruising my area! Eventually I’m going to sell her for a blue water boat!
Sounds like that is 2 cylinder Diesel engine, should be cheap operating. At least it sounded like that or something is wrong but if it don’t shake it isn’t missing.. Could be I am listening on here. But I had a 2 cylinder diesel tractor sounded almost the same.
@@CaptainChrista Yammer is a Japanese engine builder that has been around since 1912 they have built 2 cylinder 3 cyl.4 cyl. Industrial Engines it should last you a long time. They build tractor engines and equipment engines also.

Is that $700 dock fee per year or per month? That’s cheap, it costs us €150 20 €220 per night in a marina here in the Mediterranean. So we hardly ever go into a marina
Slips with the harbor remodel. I had a Catalina 30 and loved it, great boat!! I sailed it to Catalina a few times! One of my goals is to plan a day (a month after Valentine’s Day or Mother’s Day) and get as many boaters to sail out and get balloons 🎈 from the ocean! I’ll keep you in mind if you’d be interested!

Thats such a con, I have been drinking out of my water tank for years, on problems. Just give it a clean. If you are living on the boat it will be replaced with clean water regularly. Living on a boat is a great lifestyle.
It is cheap living I put my boat on anchor and I don't have no bills this my cell phone bill and car insurance and boat insurance and just my groceries that's it cheap way to live

Yanmar great engine. Our last boat the Yanmar 4jh2dte had done 10,000 hours and still ours like a kitten

It is a yanmar diesel! Definitely inexpensive which is awesome even though fuel costs a lot now a days!

So why did you switch from a Catalina 30 to a Hunter 31?
The layout is better and the upgrades were significantly better, radar, swim step, 6’4 headroom, queen size bed, spinnaker, ect..
It's more fun living on the water, I did it for 5years on my 44ft ketch

It is cheap living I put my boat on anchor and I don't have no bills this my cell phone bill and car insurance and boat insurance and just my groceries that's it cheap way to live
