you know ...we live in a pretty ugly world right now...and thankfully something beautiful and pure has come around to make me feel hopeful...i hope and wish her great success...
I first saw Tori on Fil Henley’s Wings of Pegasus! He educated me on the mechanics of great & timeless voices, such as Judy Garland, Karen Carpenter and Linda Ronstadt! He then put Tori’s voice up in comparing it with Karen! Yes, she the real article! Need I write more?
Hi Stew! Girl next door, is a good description. Your neighbor who can sing up a storm! This is a cover of Olivia Newton-John and Cliff Richard from the movie Xanadu. As you saw Dan and all his brothers “Dan” played a lot of instruments. This was his first video where cousin Mabel joined in on the Ovation guitar. She certainly held her own. So as for Tori this is her first full length Olivia cover and you were right, her first time playing an instrument in a full length video. She has numerous short videos where she’s playing. My favorite of those is the Instagram version of her Heart cover “Crazy On You.” She plays 3 different instruments. Her Beatles covers have her on piano. Glad you enjoyed it, I certainly do. It sits well on the 30th playing. Don’t ask me how I know. I know of three more songs coming down the pike and will keep you up to date as I learn of their release dates. Have fun and great reaction! Joe
I would love to see Tori and Dan do Xanadu. In my mind, It's an underrated song because it was at the end of the 'disco' wave. (and hardly anyone knows what Xanadu is) "Jeff Lynne of the English rock band Electric Light Orchestra (ELO)" wrote Xanadu. Olivia was an incredible performer. She kinda started as a country singer. I have shared her live concert videos with musician friends that are amazed. The energy and emotion she brought was stellar. ua-cam.com/video/auKiPHBa9b0/v-deo.html
@@hubrisnautto me Xanadu is from Citizen Kane. Film student of course. 😂 I used to drive by The Pan Pacific Auditorium all the time. Always hoping it would be saved. Well, Xanadu helped keep its memory alive.
Tori definitely deserves to be going places. As good as she is, she's remains a humble, sweet person; even though her talent is sublime and eclectic. She not only sings, but produces, with great facility on professional electronics. But, her singing is so good that, if that were all she did, she'd still surpass most of the well-known artists out there. One thing I was going to point out, Stew, was that, despite liking the song more or less than other covers, Tori's going up in range. All her covers of Karen were in Karen's contralto range; Olivia is a soprano. So Tori has this expansive range, which she can use without straining, screaming, or sounding pinched. Did you notice how high she had to go? Oh yeah, and she didn't get flat at the top, which a lot of pop singers do even in the middle. Tori is a hidden diamond waiting to be discovered, and she's slowly just putting out what she can because she loves it, and we all get to benefit by hearing her. About Dan, he's also a very, very affable and congenial man who happens to be a brilliant musician and producer. I'll apologize if I'm telling you something you already know, but I just have to compliment him on putting this together. Not only does he have a mastery of myriad instruments and electronic production equipment, but his musical ear is wonderful. This John Farrar song modulates in the middle of the verse, very unusual for a pop song, and it contains chromatic elements, as in all Farrar songs, that give it a distinctive sound. I like to write music, but I couldn't in a million years write this song. Dan gleaned all the right chords and managed to put together a really captivating listen. Thanks for the reaction. Enjoyed! :)
Was going to leave my own personal comment, but this perfectly encompasses so many of the same thoughts that I have about Tori and the manner in which she has touched others with the beautiful gift she possesses. I totally echo the impressions about Dan as well. Very well stated.

When Tori sings any song by Karen Carpenter or Olivia Newton John it causes you hair to stand on end she is that good.
I wonder why she doesn't reach out to PYE Records and see if they would give her a recording contract

Dan is the "Richard Carpenter" in these wonderful creations.
Tori will have a nice long career.
I just listened to this. It is Great! Dan sings better than Cliff, and of course Tori's voice is a bit stronger than Olivia's.
