So after so many failed launches, I now put the FrSky S6R receiver in all my wings. I created a special launch mode on my Taranis with a custom throttle-elevator mix. As I go over 50% throttle, up elevator is added in. This combined with the autolevel mode of the receiver gives me a 100% success rate with my side toss launch.
Your video proved to be very helpful Thank You. I did a my maiden of a Flight Test Versa Wing today without a single hiccup. The plane did exactly what you mentioned, it literally flew from my hand. All I had to do was guide it into the air with level wings and a 30 degree up angle. The solo motion was especially helpful for demonstrating the hold and the release. Thank you again.
I adopted using a bungee launcher off a PVC pipe ramp. Works great and was a fun project. Big bonus is both hands stay on the sticks as launch is made with a foot.
I do something similar to your forearm throw, only I throw it left handed so I can have hands-on the elevons for launch. Left hand on the right wing holding the leading edge. It's kind of a backwards Frisbee throw (sidearm baseball throw?) releasing before the flick of the wrist. I find this especially beneficial for maidens where you probably do not have the wings trimmed with the right amount of reflex. Once I got used to it I can do this from a seated position.
On the forearm throw, you shift weight significantly enough that the left leg comes up. This looked like it took the most energy (human) to launch? I’m building my first wing now. That kind you for the tips!
Could you explain me when you take off your glider so the elevator is pushed up or down?if you see my comment, please kindly reply to me. Thank you so much
Gliders usually take off with the elevator flat or slightly up. However, care must be taken to ensure it is balanced. Gliders are often built tail-heavy to allow them the slowest possible flight, but a touch too tail-heavy and they become unstable.
That plane is a Video Aerial Systems Anubis. We no longer make it as it has been superseded by the FPVWRA Spec wing. Keep your eyes out for the Valkyrie which is a very unusual high performance plane which can fly in high alpha at 30 degrees nose-up and not tip stall despite having a 95mph speed.
Are any of those techniques doable from a sitting position? I'm used to flying from a cross legged position on the ground. I usually just throw my bixler with my left hand, which is admittedly weak and clumsier, but is good enough if I launch into the wind. I'm planning on getting a wing (z-84) for my next plane and i'm wondering how i'm going to launch it by myself from my position on the ground :\
I just used your method yesterday on my new delta wing. It worked great ! Thanks for sharing!!
Thanks I'll try that just after my fingers heal...
Haha

The bungee launcher is excellent, but more to carry to the field. If you don't mind the extra stuff, it is certainly the way to go.
Wing launch face, we all have a special one lol. I only fly VAS antennas, keep the greatness coming!

This helped me get my first wing in the air, thank you!
Thanks for the clear demonstrations.

Nice leg Flip @ 3:58 :)
thank you very much god bless you and your familly
Deals Gap! I'm going there this weekend. Then off to the Circus the following week.
Excellent tutorial. Thanks.

Perfect. Thanks.
How much throttle?
In most cases full throttle is best. In some of my very light wings I use 1/2 throttle.
Can I launch it like throwing a boomerang?
What model is the wing? Maker?
Thanks for the video!

Sitting is tough. Most wings need to be throw hard or they will stall. If you sit, make a launcher with some surgical tubing and a simple tent stake.
Thanks Alex. I throw a wing like crap. lol.
k now how do i land it?
Alex, great but with a zephyr II with 2.5kg it's very difficult ...
+Koestel - Use the Sky Hook method. It should climb right out with no issues.
+Video Aerial Systems
ok I will try :-)
Top ! it works thank you !!
What's all that stuff mounted to the top of the wing?
Groot McEffe - Old FPV Video gear and a Mobius HD camera. It’s how we rolled in 2015 ;)
What body is that?
your arms are so strong
You should see my hand! fml
I just destroyed 2 wings trying to launch last weekend. I'm sticking with my catapult
what is that wing?
vas anibus
Aditya M where could I get one of those?
💯✌️😎🤙🇺🇸
FUTABA 9C!!!!!!!
We need to talk bro, lol..your technique needs work. You need to learn the Left Handed Sally Side Saddle
+squishy654 - Maybe I should try that ;)
