I like your video very much, thanks a bunch for taking the time to explain this setup, this rig is amazing, also the video is wonderfully done, no shaking, crystal clear, straight forward
Thank you for the feedback! I never know if these types of vids will pick up many views but I figured it’d help those that are looking for something like this. It is by far my favorite setup. Thanks for watching, hope this helps
I learned this rig for Nick in one of his earlier videos. I'm not a bass fisherman, so Lord knows when I might have figured out the setup on my own. I shall forever be indebted; this is a game-changer at the jetty.
It is a killer setup.. i like those weighted hooks as well, though i usually reserve those for bass fishing the lakes and ponds since i lose those less often there... Texas rig was the first setup i ever used for bass, it's nice that it can also be used for rock fishing!
Bro im from a desert and came out on a week trip and used all your advice.... Friggin killed it so far! Thanks man for not being a selfish fisherman. Ive had a great time. Oregon fishing is awesome theres fish everywhere. In gold beach now will be hitting coos bay in a day then on my way home. Thanks again 🤙
This setup worked great minus me not catching anything but I had 20 mph winds against my cast and tons of seaweed lost one lure due to my own my own fault but I snagged someone else’s lure oddly enough and it was in great condition. Thanks for the tip
Anytime! i covered this setup in a video i did last year covering "7 jetty setups" but i know that not everything gets watched, and considering the amount of positive feedback i've received since then, i figured i should put another out covering JUST this rig.. Thanks for watching
i started fishing with it on the jetties just over a year ago and found instant success and it has been one of my go-to setups ever since... and it's still typically the first rig i throw when im out fishing for largemouth... effective and versatile
I have only gone a couple times over a lot of years. Seems it would be easier from a boat lol.. that’s still one fishery I’ve wanted a better crack at for a long time
Yo man I know this isn’t pertaining to rock fishing but I’ve been tryna find some good spots on the coast for salmon this time around was wondering if you knew any good bank fishing spots?
Thank you, every little bit helps.... and this setup made a huge difference for me when i started using it, not just catching fish but actually being able to run it along the bottom and learn what the structure was like in the areas that i was fishing.. good luck out there
Hey Nick, are you going to do any springer trib vids ? There are nook's in one of our Portland rivers , things are looking up for this trib ,the fish are not big 10 to 15 lb. But I'm not complaining really just glad to see them. 😁
oh ya! I will be out there very soon.. i've been waiting for mid-late may to get started.... basically the rain we are getting right now and for the next couple of days... the rivers and tribs should all be producing on the drop
haha ya you usually don't ever see me do it on video because i know i would get the "you're doing it wrong" comments lol, but maybe i will throw it in with one of these other vids ;)
@@AnglingAddictsPNW You should try the Palomar knot for tying your hooks. It's easier to tie and at least as strong. You just thread the line thru the hook eye, than put the free end back thru the eye. You then take the loop you just made and make a half-hitch over the mainline and the free end. Than you pass the hook thru the loop and cinch it down. There are illustrations on line. The only tricky part is keeping the loop around the mainline instead of the hook shank as you cinch it down. My experience is that it's a stronger knot than the fisherman's, probably because your cinch is around a double line not just the main.
i've used rocks before but didn't use a zip-ties, i usually just had a piece of weaker line tied to it or through it depending on whether it was one i drilled a hole through or not... it's much better than throwing lead in the water
I could say Texas rig and have a majority of people not know what I’m talking about. Just because we know what it is doesn’t mean everyone knows.. cmon man
You're an information Gold mine!!
I'm just glad so many people are finding this info useful... it's the little things :)
Thanks so much for what you do on here, Nick. Super helpful!

This is my favorite was to run my soft plastics. Sometimes I’ll use the weighted bass fishing hooks also. 🤘🤘

thanks for all the great tips..I'm working on the coast and going to be hitting the jettys after work amap...
Good tip on using the rig to learn the bottom.
it helps so much! anytime i fish a new spot i throw on this setup to "feel things out"
Thanks Nick.

Thanks for this i launched a lot of gear off the jetty and this looks like I will get more than 2 cast befor i re-tie.
haha i was the same way before using this rig. some areas are just to rocky or snaggy.. this setup is perfect... good luck!!
Right on man I would definitely try it
That is a bass rig that I've been using for years for saltwater fishing. Glad you figured it out

I do apologize the comment sounded a little too arrogant I do watch your videos and thank you very much for serving our country
No problem, it didn’t sound arrogant to me. I appreciate you watching! Thanks for the support
Me too. I started using this method in the 80's. But, for the people that don't know, Great Tip
Just used this with a tube soft bait so much fun man!!!!!
Great setup . Thanks for sharing the great info.
Thanks for sharing!
anytime! thanks for watching
Guys, where do _you_ get your bullet weights from?
Nice one Pal...
Thank you Maurice.. this is one of my favorite setups for the jetty
I’ll have to try this one out!
it's definitely worth giving a shot! and is a good setup to know for future use.. you never know what's going to entice them... good luck out there
Good info thanks!
anytime! This one was a game changer for me and i was able to fish so many spots where i was usually getting snagged up.. good luck!
Is this rig good for gulp mullet
Nice 👍
Do you walleye? Thanks for the tip

That's how I have my teaser trailer setup above a bigger swimbait
I've only done that a few times, but it's been a while.. i think i need to give it another shot.
I’ll try it
Great info!

Have you gone out for springers yet?
I’m just about to start hitting the rivers and tributaries around here.. im pretty excited to get back out
Yep... I liked it before I've even watched the whole thing! (To be continued) 🤣🤣🤣
haha thanks!
Hey nick- could u do quick video on how u do ur 7 wrap fisherman knots on Hooke- I haven’t seen it done like that before- appreciate your time bro. 🙏🏻
haha ya you usually don't ever see me do it on video because i know i would get the "you're doing it wrong" comments lol, but maybe i will throw it in with one of these other vids ;)

have you ever tried to use small rocks as weights, using zip-ties as a harness?
i've used rocks before but didn't use a zip-ties, i usually just had a piece of weaker line tied to it or through it depending on whether it was one i drilled a hole through or not... it's much better than throwing lead in the water
Thats a great rig! I just have one question. Dont we wanna use a swivel to connect the leader, to minimize line twists?
No we don't. That is only necessary for spinners or something that rolls on the bottom when drifting.
@@randymagnum8721 good to know. Thanks!
Texas rig, man. Could just say that and save the hassle.
