I felt the need to point out, before I get a bunch of comments about it, that i misspoke when covering the rig I was using. I said it was a Carolina rig instead of the Texas rig. By the time I noticed what I did I had already uploaded the video and was only minutes away from posting the video… anyhow,…. My bad. Thanks for watching. You guys are awesome and I greatly appreciate the support
I caught a bunch of kelp greenlings in Fort Bragg Ca.- I filleted them on the table in the yard, went inside for a bit, and when I came out to bag them, there were threadlike translucent Worms wriggling out of the flesh! I never ate those kind of fish again.
One of the best catch ever happened there for me. Hooked a rock fish and while reeling in it got snagged. Then it slowly started coming to the surface and a giant Ling swallowed the sea bass and after a bit of a fight we landed it and it still had the full bass in its mouth. Ate both that night while camping out there.
Caught my first ling of the season that way just a couple weeks ago in the same spot. Hooked a little lingcod and a 37” female ate it on the way in. I jumped in over my boots to grab it before she let go
We call those hitchhikers. If I'm out in the boat and i hook a bass closer to the bottom, I'll let it fight a little and then reel it in slowly. You'll sometimes entice big lings that way. Just need to net them before they break the surface of the water
I get to go hit the south jetty tomorrow. Pretty stoked! Thought I'd just pop by and re-watch some of your jetty videos to remind myself what I'm doing out there!
I’m so ready to get back to some coastal fishing. The backpack full of fish was pretty epic. I will never forget that day of fishing. It was so much fun. I definitely got lucky
I’m up and down that trail and out on the jetty with my little dog almost every day that the weather permits. I’m starting to think that as long as I’m out there anyway, I should come home with something to eat! Thanks for the great vids. Maybe we’ll see you out there one day.
Been watching a lot of your videos lately and you've become one of my new favourite youtubers. Always informative and great vibes, keep up the great work, man!
OMG my knees were hurting just watching you walk around on those wet slipper rocks. Nice fish ~ worth the walk. Thanks for sharing I think I'm going to have to order some of those "Fishlab Lures" They look nice and I know I'll put them to use up here in Washington ~ Tight Line
That place takes it out of me everytime. If i'm out for a few days, this is usually my last stop. I don't think i could start out doing a jetty trip like that, it'd be all i did lol. I've made that walk back so many times without fish, i can't believe i even go back, but it's the rare days like these that have me putting up with it. I'm fishing with those jigs on my next trip. I can't wait to use them! I like how small the heads are for how heavy they are. I have a spot i want to target some ling with them... hopefully it works out! Tight lines
Thanks for your videos brother. I'm from Vancouver and recently started to fish/crab in Garibaldi, OR. The jetty fishing is awesome and your videos have helped me get better. Thank you so much. Keep it up 👍
Thanks for watching! It always makes my day to know that any of the videos I have done, or any of the info that I have put out has helped someone catch their first fish or just simply learn something new that helped them become a better fisherman. I will be coastal fishing again early spring, stay tuned for more content...... if I can keep up my lucky streak lol... thanks again and good luck out there.
Fantastic video Nick! I especially loved the fish swinging all over your pack on the way back🙂 That is one nasty walk, but the rewards were evident. I'll have to get some of those swimbaits myself, but don't think I could walk that far any more--a few too many hard landings thanks to the ol` T-10!
I always love days like these. I'm just glad I came up with SOMETHING or that would have been a horrible walk back. I've been to too many places where it's a long hike in and you never seem to care about the long walk back with fish until you are making a long walk back and loaded up with fish haha. Thanks for watching
Awesome video Nick nice to see you back action . Don't give up on this honey hole on these jetties which produce some fantastic action videos on these rocks , you really earn your fruits of your labor when you do these long Marathon walk . 😉😃😉😃😉😃
Great video as always! I've never fished the North Jetty for the same reason as you, walking through the rocks AND the sand is just so taxing. Great to see you catching fish again, man. I'll be out there soon
Good to see you back on the jettys bud! My van was recently stolen and all my fishing gear with it haha. So gonna be gettin set up again this weekend and get back out there. Hope to see ya around for Ling season!
Love your videos! Can you please share with me what rod and reel you prefer fishing these jetties and going after Lings, Rockfish and Greenling. Especially the awesome rod your using. Much appreciated!
As always, it's great to see your videos pop up!! Too many years of smoking took the gas out of me for that far of a walk... (that's a subtle hint for you there my friend.) I always enjoy the jetty videos. Keep 'em coming!!
What is the brand of the worm/ grub and color of the one you catch the ling cod on? I caught several baby lings last year from the beach use berkley gulp sandworms. Maybe I need to try a big worm. Thank you for the great videos!
To be honest, I don't think the North side fishes any better than the South, they both have their days of producing fish, or not. The death march back from the north side is one thing but doing it after getting skunked definitely has me preferring the south. Which side i fish usually just depends on the wind, it kills the audio lol. Let me know how it goes if you make it out there.... and be careful, i'm a friggin mountain goat and that place has tripped me up.
I have seen a thumbs up alot of your videos my man an I must say you guys up there got some really nice size blacks off your jetty's we get them here in Humboldt County just below you but most time not that big off the jetty but the fishing has been pretty insane here as well lately and I have been blessed to catch alot really good size rock fish in this new year keep the good content coming be safe out there everyone
Hey im new to fishing and dont really know what to do with the fish after i catch them before i get it into my fridge. I noticed you had then hanging on your backpack, did you put them on a string in the water until you left? Wont they go into rigor mortis and the meat wont be good? Really appreciate any advice from anyone thanks
Hey I’m curious how you keep the fish fresh out on the jetty, especially worse case scenario: long hike out, long day fishing, warm day and direct sun.
I am.... I've been using the Cedros lately since I like it a bit more but that Rockaway has seen a load of fish and I love it's ability to flip fish when you are on the jetty, keeps you from having to get down so close to the water to bring in a fish.
I keep trying to talk myself into fishing in the winter. I just gotta man up. I really appreciate you getting out there. How cold is it on the coast. In the Jan _ Feb. Months.
I have fished it a few times and never had much luck. I don’t even consider fishing Nehalem jetty these days. Barview jetty is close and you’d have better chances of catching fish there. Fishing the beaches for surf perch can be pretty productive as well
I don’t think I mentioned what kind they were. That is the Strike King Rage Swimmer. I don’t recall whether it was the 4.75” or the 5.75” though. I’ve had good luck with them but I’m pretty sure those fish will bite anything if you manage to get it around them. Those rage swimmers are perfect for the setup I was using though.
How long does it take to get out to the end of the north jetty? I am from idaho and tried to get out there and it got dark before i made it past the kelp mats.
Maybe your neighbor, King Slew fishes out from under the same bridge and posts up on YT. My wife said no whining about only catching Rock and Greenling. Three kinds is a winning hand for the day.
Yeah, fishing the North jetty is an actual death march. Haven't gone out there too many times just for that reason. I've occasionally wondered why there weren't the bones of those that didn't make it back along the trail. lol
I genuinely enjoy your videos. They're concise, straightforward, well explained.... annnnd..... you react like a grown-up unlike 90% (hyperbole but seems to apply) of other YT'ers who jump & shout constantly... they're having fun but if they acted that way out fishing with me I'd have to do some chumming. Point of my comment is actually a suggestion for your gear. You carry a pack so ice chests are out I'm sure.... buuuut... how about a collapsible ice chest? watching you struggle with managing your catch. a chest in the 30-60 gal range would work to keep your catch out if the sun. Add a collapsible 5-gal or what ever size bucket would let you drag up sea water for the chest. plus you could keep water in the bucket to bleed your catch if you want. Amazon prices have the ice chests running from about $22-$45 and buckets are about $12. Anyway just a thought.
I misspoke but didn’t catch it until I had already uploaded the video and was writing the description. Thanks for pointing it out though.. took like 3k views before someone mentioned it
@@AnglingAddictsPNW no worries. i imagine most folks watching your vids are fairly new to fishing in general and not old bass fisherman... lol i like your style and have shared your vids with a few friends that are just getting started with the coastal fishing around coos bay. keep it up, hope your channel grows well

Back in the day ADDICTED fishing was angling addicts Northwest correct? Was your channel around before that or did they come out after?
One of the best catch ever happened there for me. Hooked a rock fish and while reeling in it got snagged. Same thing happened to me on the North Jetty when I was a teenager! But the big ling got away as I pulled it out of the water.
That would be f’n epic to see bro! Congrats man haha

Nice fishing. I'll be in Oregon 2024. Need to hit up some mountain lake on the kayak. Got my license. May have to hit coast too

Inspiring me to get out there and do some fishing. I live RIGHT THERE!!!
That’s one hell of a walk but it was worth it that day congratulations
love that newport area

Great video, but I have to say the Oregon coast has some of the most gnarly looking fish anywhere.

I'd be thrilled to backpack those 🐟🐟🐠!!
Wow, getting Lingcod from shore. Nice. I have to be in a boat 15 miles out n the Pacific here. Awesome fishing day.
That was an epic day of jetty fishing for sure! Love that Texas Rig for any kind of aggressive species that likes to eat swimbaits!

Brilliant Pal..
Black rockfish might be my favorite. They're easy to clean and seem to give the best fillet for their size!
excellent vid as usual. I made that walk out there and told myself, never again. Haha
Awesome Nick

How many inches is that blue paddle tail?
Awesome!!!
Nice catch,! But I think you need a better drag reels.
Do they bite year round? I am in bc and fish on the island but haven’t had bites this month
Around what time was this? I went in may a couple years ago and it was good. I was wondering yo early I can head out.
What’s your ideal tide? High or low? And if it’s not a favorable tide will you still fish the jetty?
Hey im new to fishing and dont really know what to do with the fish after i catch them before i get it into my fridge. Great video brother.... love the mixed bag.... rockfish are tasty too.... do you bleed your fish.
Hey Nick I am headed out this weekend for a camping trip at fort stevens. I want to hit up the jetty as well! How can I get a hold of you?
Where do you park to get out to north jetty? I've only fished south.
Hi how's it going .any suggestions where to buy rock fishing gear online .I live in bend and wanted to get stocked up before heading to the coast
What gopro are you using?

When best tide for rock fishing?
what kind of swimbait was the blue one? Imay have missed it in the video.

where do you go
no video since last fall
What size EWG hook do you use for your Texas rig?
Yeah, fishing the North jetty is an actual death march. Haven't gone out there too many times just for that reason.
I've occasionally wondered why there weren't the bones of those that didn't make it back along the trail. lol
How many miles of a walk is it to the jetty?
Ohhh shaaaaaat bruddah, u made me exhausted just watching u hike back.. LMAO
Do you fish all yr
Is the north jetty at this certain location generally rougher than the south jetty?

Awesome. Anyone else notice the seal at 9:02?
I only noticed it when i was editing... they were all over the place looking for the herring. I should have taken a bit more video
dude, that is a texas rig. the carolina rig has a stopper that keeps the weight somewhat up the line. sometimes even pegged

Another Great video. Always look forward to them. What jetty was that?
You gotta close the fishes mouth before you measure it. That place looks amazing though. Tight lines congrats on a amazing video and great catch.

Beautiful catches again Nick! You tend to do good under those rocks as always.
