Rockers and Metal Heads are the best! I’m not saying any other genre-lover is NOT ;). It’s just the knowledge and street-smart defense for their favorite group (Band-Maid & BABYMETAL, in this case) is super cool and super healthy. I mean the passion, man - even for those who strike a more neutral tone! B-M & BM are helping revitalize the music industry not only because of their music and performances… but because of their awesome Fans!
As much as I do love and enjoy Band-Maid, you can't compare syncopation to any other song...like seriously that song is a perfection of a songwriting and combine with the whole performance, it should've been no contest for syncopation. But thats just my personal thought
Totally agree. Band Maid is amazing, but there's no comparison point to Syncopation. The song is so epic! The drumming, solos, singing... The best of Babymetal.

It's like comparing apples to oranges, both groups are great in their own right but their styles are totally different. I love 'em both but I admit that I listen to much more BAND-MAID these days.
@@TheAdventuresofTNT I have to agree with Andy here. This is like comparing apples to oranges. What we have here are 2 great bands that are great for very different reasons.
If you're interesting in a 'round 2' for BAND-MAID, maybe pit them against other groups that are more similar to them in style, such as Doll$Boxx or Aldious. I also have to agree that the videos were just about to kick into amazing when they got cut off. But I can see why you wouldn't want to play too much of the song it you plan on doing a full reaction to them in the future. And yes, you should do full reactions to these songs. You won't be disappointed.
The three biggest differences between BM and B-M, to me, is: 1) The Music - the emotional attachment to the song. BAND-MAID’s songs and sound beat more in sync with the heart and soul of rock n’ rollers. BABYMETAL’s music is designed to produce a spectacle to behold. Any emotion generated is tied heavily to “show values” and appearance while the music is designed to generate pure, high-energy flash. IMHO, there’s little guttural grip to what they do or how they sound. In other words, B-M evokes heart, soul and water eyes while BM offers mind, energy and glassy eyes, if that makes sense; 2) The Players - the raw talent and incredible story of five young women and how they came together purely for the love of the music and with very little experience… to play and write their own music at the level Band-Maid does is, indeed, extremely rare! Kind-a like the Beatles, right? Creating a seven or eight piece mixed ensemble who play contracted material is, again, to me, less Impressive, no matter the attractiveness and musicianship. 3) The Presentation - B-M is raw, straight forward, a bit nerdy and humble. They standup and deliver their own music… HARD! BM is choreography and calculated. Watching BABYMETAL makes me feel like I’m supposed to like them because there’s so much going on. Band-Maid grabs my heart and gut and won’t let go. In conclusion (sort of) - BAND-MAID’s genre is becoming more of a crossover of rock and memorable hooky pop with metal, punk and cultural influences (Maiko) offering a possible wider commercial appeal in the years to come. BABYMETAL’s genre, while a bit more narrow than BAND-MAID’s, also has a steadfast fan base willing to travel eternity with their Kawaii Metal group. Both are hot, awesome and successful - a marketers’ dream. So that’s one thing THEY HAVE in common.
What of Su with her vocals and performance .do you think she doesn't have a future Also you could not get more humble than Babymetal . Even after getting moaned at by some fans about the Yui saga who then turned up in Babymetal reactions in comments saying Band Maid is better play there own instruments ect " you know who you are" In a recent magazine interview Su and Moa said they had heard the comments and they will try to work and improve there performance for there fans , how humble is that. Things are really heating up here at the Tom Clark University of Intellectual Excellence. I was a fan of both bands but cultural Marxism has taken over the campus and I don't feel safe expressing my tru feelings any more in case I am labeled a Nazi. Antifa came to my dorm the other day demanding to know iff I was a BAND MAID follower or a Baby Metal devotee . I just made hand signals and pretended to be deaf. The truth is that my most secret and shameful desire , the thing I think about when I'm alone is when Su Metal replaces Saiki as Band Maids new singer but I dare not tell anyone. I don`t know, maybe Lzzy Hale or Tatiana of Jinjer? :) That's what the K-pop bands are doing right now, when conquering the US market. Anyway, as far as I remember, Babymetal has an episode with a guest appearance at their concert by vocalist of Judas Priest.

A heavily produced dance team backed by studio quality musicians will seldom produce the organic energy level that virtuoso musicians just 'cutting loose' will impart to an audience. The most amazing aspect of the winner in this case is that even the recorded performance transmits a measure of the same raw power that someone who was at that concert would have felt. The viewer somehow knows how great it would have been to be there at that one spontaneous moment. While both groups are arguably at the pinnacle of their respective styles and 'deliver the goods' with panache … the power, emotion and simple joy of one over the other is undeniable. I think we are witnessing the evolution of Rock n Roll along two distinct lines... and the future is bright indeed.

@The Adventures of TNT That's good news. I'm a huge fan of both groups, although I would have leaned toward 'Syncopation' in this matchup. I'll be seeing BABYMETAL at the LA Forum in October. BAND-MAID just announced some European shows for 2019. Hope they add some dates in the USA soon. Last year they played LA and San Francisco in November.

Speaking of big shows, I heard BAND-MAID has recently signed a contract with LiveNation, Inc. (pretty sure I got that right) which is the biggest concert promoter in the US (and one of the biggest in the world), which hopefully means they're looking to do a lot more, and possibly bigger, shows here in the US in the near future. I don't know much about Band-Maid and haven't heard the song before. It has a good groove, but to me there's hardly a song on this planet that can keep up with Syncopation. I have to agree with others here that the image at the end was a bit too much. Congratulations to the Band-Maid fans, though. :-)

Honestly i used to be a BABYMETAL's fan, but when i first listened to Band-Maid, their music just blew me away. I think BABYMETAL is really good, but their genre may not easily accepted for some people in the first time. Band-Maid was born as an all female Hard-rock band, more catchy and familiar So for me BABYMETAL are kinda like idols and performers, and Band-Maid are artists whom play their own instrument
You know the body is also an instrument and Suzuka and Moa/Yui are the best at using it. Suzuka at using her voice and Moa/Yui at expressing themselves with dance moves. All these skills requires some quality training, long time and hard work to develop at the level these girls manage to accomplish. The two bands has members who are the best at what they do, IMO. And that makes them unique all over the world. We should enjoy them both instead of trying so hard to try to say which of them is better when the obvious answer is both, they both are bringing diversity, fun and quality to the music world.
You know The Kami Band is also Babymetal and they are great. Don’t understand this used to be a fan bs. Either you like the music or not. I happen to love both bands but when I hear your used to be a fan comment I immediately think, oh look another Yui fan NOT a Babymetal fan.
This comparison is pointless. These two bands couldn't be more different from each other. They are both amazing in what they do. I love them both, but I would never compare them or choose one over the other.
This is a bit like a ‘Beatles vs Rolling Stones’ type thing. BabyMetal/Beatles are/were a bit more polished and experimental, where Bandmaid/Stones are/were more gritty and rocking. Certain similarities, while having definite differences. Either way, plenty of room for both. Perhaps someday we will look back on this time musically as ‘A Japanese Invasion’. 👍

@Jose Miguel What I really like about Su-is her stage presence and to see her strut on stage. It always reminds me of the theatrics of Freddie Mercury.
One thing that always bug me when i comes to comparison between BM and Band-Maid is that people (and probably Band maid fans) trying to either discredit the girls of babymetal not to play instruments or they pretend like kami band isnt there. Like they ignore instrumentals, which is ,in my opinion, superior to Band-Maid. Guitars and Drums no doubt. Bass is great on both sides for a different reasons because different styles of Boh and Misa.
The issue IMHO is this: Band Maid plays their own instruments. Without them playing live, there is no show. Baby Metal female singers could literally do their entire show to a pre-recorded soundtrack. They don't really NEED Kami band to be there. Kami band are amazing musicians, but they are not the stars of the show. Now if Kami band did their own separate act, that would be a totally different conversation.
@@martinmetal7481 they had BabyBones pretending to play in the beginning. The music was prerecorded or musicians hidden in the back. They made their last real appearance in IDZ. As a side point, I could have seen them at The Red Brick Wharehouse in Yokohama but I didn't & don't follow Idol. I only found them about a year later when I got back to the States.
Both Band-Maid and Babymetal are excellent. The only negative with Band-Maid is (as you can see from the comments) their fan-base is incapable of promoting their own band without putting down another. It's unfortunate because Band-Maid deserves better fans. Fans that believe they are capable of standing on their own.

Well, I think it’s a bit silly those kind of competitions - oh before I forget, I got the biggest, just saying 😇 Both acts are great, but completely different. Babymetal did blow me away from the first listening, I remember when I first heard Megitsune it was a positive shock. Second positive shock was my first Band Maid concert back in 2016 and I confess Band-Maid was the more sustainable experience until now. So for me Band-Maid always wins, definitely the hottest thing out there since decades. Saw Babymetal as well as Band-Maid live several times over the last years. As much I love Su’s voice too, Saiki has more range and touches me harder emotionally. And I‘m a bit worried about the direction Babymetal took the last year. The 2018 shows left me behind surprisingly unimpressed compared to g.e. the Wembley Show 2016 or at Makuhari 2015 - a rather generic Avenger-Style Rock Musical Show. I hope they will find their strength back again. I guess we could be just thankful to get so many great female bands from Japan for every taste to discover that we should spare us this puberty competitions - but anyway my rock heart will always beat especially hard for Band-Maid, top notch in every aspect.
Of course I am biased. I think Band Maid and Baby Metal are two different kinda bands. I like in Band Maid that it is an all female band and they remind me of my favorite band next to Band Maid. AC/DC :D

You can pick whatever winner you want: it's your channel and your opinion. But the method of only playing the first two minutes of each track is ridiculous when you're comparing two tracks. And the picture you put at the end of the video with the 'painted on' black eye and bloody nose on a picture of Su and the caption "Bitch, I hope your ancestors felt that beating!!!", is just bad taste and completely unnecessary. The most infuriating thing about this reaction video, however, is in the comments: the absurd, conspiracy theory type, noxious comments from the Band Maid fans towards BABYMETAL. Personally, I like BABYMETAL (quite a bit) more but I like both BABYMETAL and Band Maid, for different reasons. The Band Maid fans that left those toxic comments here, however, should be ashamed of themselves! Really ugly and disappointing!
I appreciate your comment and yes I do agree some of the comments here are very toxic but this is not a comparison of the groups this is just a battle over which song or performance was better. The ending screen is reminiscent of the ending screen of a fighting game. People are taking this way too seriously instead of having fun with it.

I heard Band-Maid and Babymetal live last year and they both sound amazing. Both concert had such an amazing atmosphere. For me its a close call but I go with Band-Maid

I'm going to go on record here to say I don't think TNT deserves all the hatred. There was no intention on their part to start this crap. It was all in fun but a few people ruined it from the start with unnecessary negative comments. Most of the comments were fine. For example, I have no issue with someone saying they believe Saiki's voice is better than Su's voice. Even though they are DEAD WRONG!! :)
You are absolutely correct. But I don't mind hate or anger. Usually my battle videos get a lot of dislikes and hate. No one wants to see their favorite band lose a fight. I don't want people to think the results are definitive.

@@laughingbuddha2948 It is true that the pic of Su and comment is in bad taste. I'm not sure how old she is in that pic but if she is under age like I suspect, then that sort of thing is garbage. I am willing to assume he was not aware of her age in this case. I also understand he does not have the connection with the girls that us hardcore fans have so I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. If I'm wrong about my assumptions then its a whole different ball game.
I don't like the rule of 2 minutes that you are using, especially if you start the 2 minutes of time at the beginning of the song. If it must be only 2 minutes, then I think it'd be a better test to compare the final 2 minutes of each song; that way you'd be more likely to be comparing the (generally, for most songs of any band) hottest part of songs, and not just comparing the build-up portions without the parts being built up to. As it worked out, you cut out on BAND-MAID just as one of the hottest performance elements they've ever done was about to start: a guitar battle between Kanami and MISA. That was frustrating!
Band-Maid is a self formed group that does it all exceedingly well. Their performances are raw and spontanious. Babymetal was an act pre planned from start to finish by others. They perform their roles very well. Not so sure about Babymetal II since they have yet to define them. Band-Maid hands down.
You are absolutely right. There is no other band like Babymetal and alot of people judge them individually as a group but do not understand that they are a package deal. Babymetal in whole is a topnotch experience.
Im a 41 yrs. Old mother and my 19 yrs old son introduced me to babymetal, I would agree to martinmetal, theres no other band like babymetal and bandmaid is uhmm....I would prefer listening to kana boon than bandmaid haha
The concept is kind of silly. Music preference is not something that can be easily quantified into a winner or loser. To me Bandmaid, though talented, is just kind of boring as nothing stands out as something I have not heard before. For Babymetal quite often their songs are very original sounding compared to other metal songs, and that stands out to me. I will say though that I do not find Syncopation very original, as it sounds like a slightly heavier Paramore song.
You do realize you are also comparing Kawaii Metal (experimental idol group by a funded company) to a Rock group (formed out of inspiration)? Band-Maid may be boring for you since technicalities isn't your thing.. while Babymetal is a phase. If you see them as more original then I guess you haven't been to the J-pop world for long.
Ive had to please to see them both live and you cant really compare them . The best about these shows are the people who visit them! Everyone is so nice there

Babymetal will probably always be my favourite group, but Band-Maid is way up there. At the end of the day, they're completely different, so I can't really compare them :D
it's still Babymetal for me and for Band Maid no matter how hard me try over and over they just can't make me fan of them ... i just don't know ... maybe to me the music not fast enough ? or maybe the sound not hard or sharp enough , maybe ? Scandal band is the 2nd band that have enough everything that make me their fan but only for their old songs before Yellow Album , sadly for me the new songs from Scandal feels not the same as they use to be.
I think if you're going to do something like this then you might as well listen to the entire song rather than just a tidbit to actually make a good judgment. Though you shouldn't exactly compare the two and just enjoy the bands respectively.

I make the videos short because I don't want to take up to much of my subscribers time BUT if people would like me to listen to the full songs then I will since its been a complaint of my videos. Next, this isn't really a comparison of the bands, its battle to see which song was better in the time frame alotted. And yes, I do enjoy both bands, babymetal more than bandmaid.
Babymetal started out on no budget too. The company wasn't going to put any money in such a risky project, it was more a passion project for Koba to see if it's possible to do this. In that sense they are completely similar to how a normal band would get a record contract and get a budget to do stuff. You can even see in the way things are organized around Babymetal that the merchandise, tickets they sell, etc. doesn't go so much into the bigger company, but goes into a budget to build bigger shows.

You do know Babymetal played shows right across the US and Rock on the Range then Europe also Festival in Europe Download in the Uk then a concert with Judas priest in Singapore then five concerts in Japan and then 3 festivals in Australia last year and have been doing similar things every year since there teens. In there school holidays when still at school all that and school work.🤘

Both bands excel in their genre, Band-Maid in Hard Rock and Babymetal in Heavy Metal. However, if the argument here is, Band-Maid won because they are playing instruments. I think that's not a sufficient reason. It's worth noting that there is a lot of rock (slow to hard) bands/metal bands in the past and in today that have lead vocals that don't play an instrument, yet are renowned as great bands of their time. That reason alone makes Band-Maid and Babymetal equal, coz both bands have the music sound of their own. Now, if we will add other criteria, Babymetal will win this (should not be existing) comparison. 🔹Founded their genre "Kawaii Metal" which is now officially listed as a legit genre. 🔹Diverse music genre - apart from the main genre they founded, they're mixing a lot of genres in all corners of Music, not to mention their choreography. 🔹Achievements - I'll let Google give you the answers to this, such as local and international awards and music charts. One best example is they're now in the TOP 10 of the best metal bands OF ALL TIME (that literally means since the human race have invented or become aware of MUSIC and its genre named Metal) according to Metal Hammer. 🔹Awesome Live performances worldwide (not just in their land Japan) 🔹Uniqueness - I think this is the best edge of Babymetal. From the year they've started until now, there's no other band (specifically in JP) that is doing what they are doing right now - they are successful in doing a weird mix that shouldn't fit, but they made it work. Another reason why Babymetal is unique in a very obvious way? Well, if you'll scan the girl JP hard rock and metal bands, you'll see a lot of them that are almost similar to Band-Maid like Passcode. But again, this comparison should not exist because these bands are great at their own art. A band will still be a band even if all its members are just using their vocals to create instrumental sounds, so again, the "not playing instruments" big contributing reason why Band-maid won is insufficient, at least for me.

It's understandable when fans feel it for their idol in any part of the entertainment industry in general. Even though I hate it to rub it on you, Kawaii metal exists and they're the ones who invented it, Since their style and sound don't fit any subgenre of Metal, they were given the title as the inventor of an unknown mix to the METAL genre. Indeed, they're not even using that title to address themselves, coz seriously, have you heard Michael Jackson tell the public that he's the renowned King of Pop? of course fans and other respected names and entities in the music industry will give him that title - that's almost the same with BM given the title of a Kawaii Metal band. You need to first figure out what's the difference in style and sound between a rock band and a metal band before implying your argument. In this case, listen and look closely at both bands or as you say "groups" and then list down the aspects or elements that are present and missing for both bands/groups. Also, I don't really care whether people want to call BM a metal band, a metal group, or a Jpop metal group. @Jose Miguel I agree with you and to be honest I like them both, kudos for Band Maid for being good musicians as well as vocalists but Babymetal paved the way for bands like Band Maid. You might not like them but it's because of them that Japanese female bands and even some Male bands get so much international attention these days. And those girls took a lot of BS and grief from the rock world in doing so as well as the super talented band they have backing them. And even though they were only teenagers and only spoke Japanese, they never quit, they never let the criticism or the nasty comments get them down and kept grinding it out. Give em credit where credit is due. For all they have done, all they have accomplished and all they have been through they deserve a little respect.

I admit that I am a huge musical snob and come out of years of playing drums in rock jazz fusion bands. I never said anything derogatory about the baby metal musicians. I think they are very good and I would love to see them with a real lead vocalist who can belt.

Seems to me your only comparing the girls to the girls .. so in that case Su is a better singer than any of them .. however Band Maid is a whole group of seriously great musicians .. so in your view and in mine as a musician I would agree if I was looking at it .. girls vs. girls .. but that's where you get it wrong Babymetal isn't just the girls , its the Kami band too and they are Incredible musicians.. in my opinion way more talented the girls in Band Maid .. so comparing the whole groups Babymetal wins . .. I will say this Babymetal is heavily managed .. and they still use lots of backing tracks and the shows are same every night , its not as raw as Band Maid .. AND also BabyMetals latest album has a couple of good song but it has sent them back to a place that is unattractive for me as a musician , what was great about them .. great songs and incredible musicians the management seem to have forgotten what attracted people to Babymetal .. they have put masks on the band .. moved them way back .. no amplifiers on stage .. seriously … wtf are they thinking .. then they are doing really J-poppy songs like DaDaDance and a few other songs that are sending them back in time to their early teens .. not good. They have maybe 3 songs on the new album that show growth and maturity in Babymetal as a whole .. the song Shine is a great example of mature growth excellent music,, Arkadia .. and Shanti ..Shanti 2 other great songs .. unless they get so unscripted and let this band step forward and write good music with them .. instead of management picking those teeny-bopper songs than I think their appeal may be reduced to children and the legitimacy they achieved among all ages will disappear. I will always support them cause they were just kids when this all started … and now as women their journey is just beginning so I will always be interested where that journey takes them . One thing is you can’t compare these 2 bands on vs challenge.Babymetal’s genre is different from Bandmaid. They are just rock or hard rock. BabyMetal has done different genre’s and has surpassed BandMaid sounds. You can’t compare the sound and performance of the real show with BabyMetal. Go to a their concerts first before you do VS challenge or do your homework first

It’s just the knowledge and street-smart defense for their favorite group (Band-Maid & BABYMETAL, in this case) is super cool and super healthy. As much as I do love and enjoy Band-Maid, you can't compare syncopation to any other song...like seriously that song is a perfection of a songwriting and combine with the whole performance, it should've been no contest for syncopation. But thats just my personal thought

I have to agree with Andy here. This is like comparing apples to oranges. What we have here are 2 great bands that are great for very different reasons.
If you're interesting in a 'round 2' for BAND-MAID, maybe pit them against other groups that are more similar to them in style, such as Doll$Boxx or Aldious.
I also have to agree that the videos were just about to kick into amazing when they got cut off. But I can see why you wouldn't want to play too much of the song it you plan on doing a full reaction to them in the future.
And yes, you should do full reactions to these songs. You won't be disappointed.
Babymetal is something you watch, an experience, it's a full package. Band-Maid is something you can listen to.
The three biggest differences between BM and B-M, to me, is:
1) The Music - the emotional attachment to the song. BAND-MAID’s songs and sound beat more in sync with the heart and soul of rock n’ rollers. BABYMETAL’s music is designed to produce a spectacle to behold. Any emotion generated is tied heavily to “show values” and appearance while the music is designed to generate pure, high-energy flash. IMHO, there’s little guttural grip to what they do or how they sound. In other words, B-M evokes heart, soul and water eyes while BM offers mind, energy and glassy eyes, if that makes sense;
2) The Players - the raw talent and incredible story of five young women and how they came together purely for the love of the music and with very little experience… to play and write their own music at the level Band-Maid does is, indeed, extremely rare! Kind-a like the Beatles, right? Creating a seven or eight piece mixed ensemble who play contracted material is, again, to me, less Impressive, no matter the attractiveness and musicianship.
3) The Presentation - B-M is raw, straight forward, a bit nerdy and humble. They standup and deliver their own music… HARD! BM is choreography and calculated. Watching BABYMETAL makes me feel like I’m supposed to like them because there’s so much going on. Band-Maid grabs my heart and gut and won’t let go.
In conclusion (sort of) - BAND-MAID’s genre is becoming more of a crossover of rock and memorable hooky pop with metal, punk and cultural influences (Maiko) offering a possible wider commercial appeal in the years to come. BABYMETAL’s genre, while a bit more narrow than BAND-MAID’s, also has a steadfast fan base willing to travel eternity with their Kawaii Metal group. Both are hot, awesome and successful - a marketers’ dream. So that’s one thing THEY HAVE in common.
What of Su with her vocals and performance .do you think she doesn't have a future Also you could not get more humble than Babymetal . Even after getting moaned at by some fans about the Yui saga who then turned up in Babymetal reactions in comments saying Band Maid is better play there own instruments ect " you know who you are" In a recent magazine interview Su and Moa said they had heard the comments and they will try to work and improve there performance for there fans , how humble is that. Loyalty works both ways .🤘
Things are really heating up here at the Tom Clark University of Intellectual Excellence. I was a fan of both bands but cultural Marxism has taken over the campus and I don't feel safe expressing my tru feelings any more in case I am labeled a Nazi. Antifa came to my dorm the other day demanding to know iff I was a BAND MAID follower or a Baby Metal devotee . I just made hand signals and pretended to be deaf. The truth is that my most secret and shameful desire , the thing I think about when I'm alone is when Su Metal replaces Saiki as Band Maids new singer but I dare not tell anyone. Exactly. You stopped just seconds before the bass/guitar battle has started between MISA and Kanami. Which is, of course, their signature thing.
A heavily produced dance team backed by studio quality musicians will seldom produce the organic energy level that virtuoso musicians just 'cutting loose' will impart to an audience. The most amazing aspect of the winner in this case is that even the recorded performance transmits a measure of the same raw power that someone who was at that concert would have felt. The viewer somehow knows how great it would have been to be there at that one spontaneous moment.
While both groups are arguably at the pinnacle of their respective styles and 'deliver the goods' with panache … the power, emotion and simple joy of one over the other is undeniable.
I think we are witnessing the evolution of Rock n Roll along two distinct lines... and the future is bright indeed.

Speaking of big shows, I heard BAND-MAID has recently signed a contract with LiveNation, Inc. (pretty sure I got that right) which is the biggest concert promoter in the US (and one of the biggest in the world), which hopefully means they're looking to do a lot more, and possibly bigger, shows here in the US in the near future. Guess we'll ave to wait and see.

Honestly i used to be a BABYMETAL's fan, but when i first listened to Band-Maid, their music just blew me away. I think BABYMETAL is really good, but their genre may not easily accepted for some people in the first time. Band-Maid was born as an all female Hard-rock band, more catchy and familiar
So for me BABYMETAL are kinda like idols and performers, and Band-Maid are artists whom play their own instrument
You know the body is also an instrument and Suzuka and Moa/Yui are the best at using it. Suzuka at using her voice and Moa/Yui at expressing themselves with dance moves. All these skills requires some quality training, long time and hard work to develop at the level these girls manage to accomplish.
The two bands has members who are the best at what they do, IMO. And that makes them unique all over the world. We should enjoy them both instead of trying so hard to try to say which of them is better when the obvious answer is both, they both are bringing diversity, fun and quality to the music world.

This is a bit like a ‘Beatles vs Rolling Stones’ type thing. BabyMetal/Beatles are/were a bit more polished and experimental, where Bandmaid/Stones are/were more gritty and rocking.
Certain similarities, while having definite differences. Either way, plenty of room for both. Perhaps someday we will look back on this time musically as ‘A Japanese Invasion’. 👍

One thing that always bug me when i comes to comparison between BM and Band-Maid is that people (and probably Band maid fans) trying to either discredit the girls of babymetal not to play instruments or they pretend like kami band isnt there. Like they ignore instrumentals, which is ,in my opinion, superior to Band-Maid. Guitars and Drums no doubt. Bass is great on both sides for a different reasons because different styles of Boh and Misa.

The issue IMHO is this: Band Maid plays their own instruments. Without them playing live, there is no show. Baby Metal female singers could literally do their entire show to a pre-recorded soundtrack. They don't really NEED Kami band to be there. Kami band are amazing musicians, but they are not the stars of the show. Now if Kami band did their own separate act, that would be a totally different conversation.

As a side point, I could have seen them at The Red Brick Wharehouse in Yokohama but I didn't & don't follow Idol. I only found them about a year later when I got back to the States.

Both Band-Maid and Babymetal are excellent. The only negative with Band-Maid is (as you can see from the comments) their fan-base is incapable of promoting their own band without putting down another. It's unfortunate because Band-Maid deserves better fans. Fans that believe they are capable of standing on their own.

Well, I think it’s a bit silly those kind of competitions - oh before I forget, I got the biggest, just saying 😇 Both acts are great, but completely different. Babymetal did blow me away from the first listening, I remember when I first heard Megitsune it was a positive shock. Second positive shock was my first Band Maid concert back in 2016 and I confess Band-Maid was the more sustainable experience until now. So for me Band-Maid always wins, definitely the hottest thing out there since decades. Saw Babymetal as well as Band-Maid live several times over the last years. As much I love Su’s voice too, Saiki has more range and touches me harder emotionally. And I‘m a bit worried about the direction Babymetal took the last year. The 2018 shows left me behind surprisingly unimpressed compared to g.e. the Wembley Show 2016 or at Makuhari 2015 - a rather generic Avenger-Style Rock Musical Show. I hope they will find their strength back again. I guess we could be just thankful to get so many great female bands from Japan for every taste to discover that we should spare us this puberty competitions - but anyway my rock heart will always beat especially hard for Band-Maid, top notch in every aspect.

You can pick whatever winner you want: it's your channel and your opinion. But the method of only playing the first two minutes of each track is ridiculous when you're comparing two tracks. And the picture you put at the end of the video with the 'painted on' black eye and bloody nose on a picture of Su and the caption "Bitch, I hope your ancestors felt that beating!!!", is just bad taste and completely unnecessary.
The most infuriating thing about this reaction video, however, is in the comments: the absurd, conspiracy theory type, noxious comments from the Band Maid fans towards BABYMETAL. Personally, I like BABYMETAL (quite a bit) more but I like both BABYMETAL and Band Maid, for different reasons. The Band Maid fans that left those toxic comments here, however, should be ashamed of themselves! Really ugly and disappointing!
I appreciate your comment and yes I do agree some of the comments here are very toxic but this is not a comparison of the groups this is just a battle over which song or performance was better. The ending screen is reminiscent of the ending screen of a fighting game. People are taking this way too seriously instead of having fun with it.

You are absolutely correct. But I don't mind hate or anger. Usually my battle videos get a lot of dislikes and hate. No one wants to see their favorite band lose a fight. I don't want people to think the results are definitive.

I am willing to assume he was not aware of her age in this case. I also understand he does not have the connection with the girls that us hardcore fans have so I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. If I'm wrong about my assumptions then its a whole different ball game.

I don't like the rule of 2 minutes that you are using, especially if you start the 2 minutes of time at the beginning of the song. If it must be only 2 minutes, then I think it'd be a better test to compare the final 2 minutes of each song; that way you'd be more likely to be comparing the (generally, for most songs of any band) hottest part of songs, and not just comparing the build-up portions without the parts being built up to. As it worked out, you cut out on BAND-MAID just as one of the hottest performance elements they've ever done was about to start: a guitar battle between Kanami and MISA. That was frustrating!

Band-Maid is a self formed group that does it all exceedingly well. Their performances are raw and spontanious. Babymetal was an act pre planned from start to finish by others. They perform their roles very well. Not so sure about Babymetal II since they have yet to define them.

You are absolutely right. There is no other band like Babymetal and alot of people judge them individually as a group but do not understand that they are a package deal. Babymetal in whole is a topnotch experience.

The concept is kind of silly. Music preference is not something that can be easily quantified into a winner or loser. To me Bandmaid, though talented, is just kind of boring as nothing stands out as something I have not heard before. For Babymetal quite often their songs are very original sounding compared to other metal songs, and that stands out to me. I will say though that I do not find Syncopation very original, as it sounds like a slightly heavier Paramore song.

You do realize you are also comparing Kawaii Metal (experimental idol group by a funded company) to a Rock group (formed out of inspiration)? Band-Maid may be boring for you since technicalities isn't your thing.. while Babymetal is a phase. If you see them as more original then I guess you haven't been to the J-pop world for long.

Scandal band is the 2nd band that have enough everything that make me their fan but only for their old songs before Yellow Album , sadly for me the new songs from Scandal feels not the same as they use to be.

Thank youf for the suggestion. I make the videos short because I don't want to take up to much of my subscribers time BUT if people would like me to listen to the full songs then I will since its been a complaint of my videos. Next, this isn't really a comparison of the bands, its battle to see which song was better in the time frame alotted. And yes, I do enjoy both bands, babymetal more than bandmaid.

Babymetal started out on no budget too. The company wasn't going to put any money in such a risky project, it was more a passion project for Koba to see if it's possible to do this. In that sense they are completely similar to how a normal band would get a record contract and get a budget to do stuff. You can even see in the way things are organized around Babymetal that the merchandise, tickets they sell, etc. doesn't go so much into the bigger company, but goes into a budget to build bigger shows.

You do know Babymetal played shows right across the US and Rock on the Range then Europe also Festival in Europe Download in the Uk then a concert with Judas priest in Singapore then five concerts in Japan and then 3 festivals in Australia last year and have been doing similar things every year since there teens. Im go with babymetal because where i can find a band that sing good, dance and have awesome musician behind them. l also love SU-Metal because with that dance and jump her voice still stable and good.. Both bands excel in their genre, Band-Maid in Hard Rock and Babymetal in Heavy Metal.
However, if the argument here is, Band-Maid won because they are playing instruments. I think that's not a sufficient reason.
It's worth noting that there is a lot of rock (slow to hard) bands/metal bands in the past and in today that have lead vocals that don't play an instrument, yet are renowned as great bands of their time.
That reason alone makes Band-Maid and Babymetal equal, coz both bands have the music sound of their own.
Now, if we will add other criteria, Babymetal will win this (should not be existing) comparison.
🔹Founded their genre "Kawaii Metal" which is now officially listed as a legit genre.
🔹Diverse music genre - apart from the main genre they founded, they're mixing a lot of genres in all corners of Music, not to mention their choreography.

🔹Uniqueness - I think this is the best edge of Babymetal. From the year they've started until now, there's no other band (specifically in JP) that is doing what they are doing right now - they are successful in doing a weird mix that shouldn't fit, but they made it work.
Another reason why Babymetal is unique in a very obvious way? Well, if you'll scan the girl JP hard rock and metal bands, you'll see a lot of them that are almost similar to Band-Maid like Passcode.
But again, this comparison should not exist because these bands are great at their own art.
A band will still be a band even if all its members are just using their vocals to create instrumental sounds, so again, the "not playing instruments" big contributing reason why Band-maid won is insufficient, at least for me.

I see you're a fan of a group/band that you think should have got more attention and maybe the recognition of being the first to mix rock/hard rock music with choreography and pop vocals. It's understandable when fans feel it for their idol in any part of the entertainment industry in general.
Even though I hate it to rub it on you, Kawaii metal exists and they're the ones who invented it, Since their style and sound don't fit any subgenre of Metal, they were given the title as the inventor of an unknown mix to the METAL genre. Indeed, they're not even using that title to address themselves, coz seriously, have you heard Michael Jackson tell the public that he's the renowned King of Pop? of course fans and other respected names and entities in the music industry will give him that title - that's almost the same with BM given the title of a Kawaii Metal band.
You need to first figure out what's the difference in style and sound between a rock band and a metal band before implying your argument. In this case, listen and look closely at both bands or as you say "groups" and then list down the aspects or elements that are present and missing for both bands/groups. Also, I don't really care whether people want to call BM a metal band, a metal group, or a Jpop metal group. Their existence alone that irks their haters is more than enough for me 🦊🤘
One last thing, If other known and renowned metal personalities, bands, and award-giving bodies accepted, acknowledged, and recognize them as a subgenre of metal music, then what's our authority to argue with the respected legends in the metal music industry which had tons of knowledge and experience throughout the years. As simple as that, no need to complicate things - more knowledgeable and experienced people have spoken.
However, if you are still bothered by BM given the title of being a Kawaii Metal after the things that I suggested you do and after the things that I've said above, then it's up to you.

@Jose Miguel I agree with you and to be honest I like them both, kudos for Band Maid for being good musicians as well as vocalists but Babymetal paved the way for bands like Band Maid. You might not like them but it's because of them that Japanese female bands and even some Male bands get so much international attention these days. And those girls took a lot of BS and grief from the rock world in doing so as well as the super talented band they have backing them. And even though they were only teenagers and only spoke Japanese, they never quit, they never let the criticism or the nasty comments get them down and kept grinding it out. Give em credit where credit is due. For all they have done, all they have accomplished and all they have been through they deserve a little respect.

I admit that I am a huge musical snob and come out of years of playing drums in rock jazz fusion bands. I never said anything derogatory about the baby metal musicians. I think they are very good and I would love to see them with a real lead vocalist who can belt.

Seems to me your only comparing the girls to the girls .. so in that case Su is a better singer than any of them .. however Band Maid is a whole group of seriously great musicians .. so in your view and in mine as a musician I would agree if I was looking at it .. girls vs. girls .. but that's where you get it wrong Babymetal isn't just the girls , its the Kami band too and they are Incredible musicians.. in my opinion way more talented the girls in Band Maid .. so comparing the whole groups Babymetal wins . .. I will say this Babymetal is heavily managed .. and they still use lots of backing tracks and the shows are same every night , its not as raw as Band Maid .. AND also BabyMetals latest album has a couple of good song but it has sent them back to a place that is unattractive for me as a musician , what was great about them .. great songs and incredible musicians the management seem to have forgotten what attracted people to Babymetal .. they have put masks on the band .. moved them way back .. no amplifiers on stage .. seriously … wtf are they thinking .. then they are doing really J-poppy songs like DaDaDance and a few other songs that are sending them back in time to their early teens .. not good. They have maybe 3 songs on the new album that show growth and maturity in Babymetal as a whole .. the song Shine is a great example of mature growth excellent music,, Arkadia .. and Shanti ..Shanti 2 other great songs .. unless they get so unscripted and let this band step forward and write good music with them .. instead of management picking those teeny-bopper songs than I think their appeal may be reduced to children and the legitimacy they achieved among all ages will disappear. I will always support them cause they were just kids when this all started … and now as women their journey is just beginning so I will always be interested where that journey takes them . Oh yeah and BTW I chose thumbs down cause to me it isn't a battle between just the girls .. the Kami band and the girls are BabyMetal for me that gives them the difference for the win. ..

One thing is you can’t compare these 2 bands on vs challenge.Babymetal’s genre is different from Bandmaid. They are just rock or hard rock. BabyMetal has done different genre’s and has surpassed BandMaid sounds. You can’t compare the sound and performance of the real show with BabyMetal. Go to a their concerts first before you do VS challenge or do your homework first
