Thanks for making a beginner bag series and one that comes every other month. I’m not necessarily a beginner but I’m not really an intermediate either. Had subscribed to the original bag making bees club, which I love, but some of those were just beyond my level and I never could get it done in a month due to job, life, etc.
I signed up! So excited to grow my skills in a less overwhelming manner. If you haven't done it already, can you do the "Zippy Clutch" with the angled zipper by AmyLynne Designs?
I second not buying the adhesive velcro ever. I tried using it for a car trash bag, the adhesive melted when hot so it wouldn't even hold up the bag, and it was impossible to sew in place to reinforce.
Question: The Babe Box - is it a good choice for getting to know non-cotton bag making fabrics? I have some experience making bags and wallets and so on, using denim, quilting cottons and Kraft-Tex, but that’s it. No experience with water resistant canvas or pul or vinyl or waxed canvas or pseudo-leather or … I would like a bi-monthly (or even once quarterly) simple bag examples with these more “exotic” fabrics.
Hey Jess. Do you have a link to an online store that sells the binding you used? Your links section does not have anything listed for the water-resistant canvas or the binding you used for this project. I've also looked on the pages of a few of the vendors you typically reference in your videos, but the colors they have are very limited. I am excited to make a few of these bags for the holidays. :) Thank you!
Concerning the waterproof canvass, what weight do you use. I have seen a 16oz and it looks too thick. I have seen an 8oz material and wonder if that is the one? Thank you, Kim
I go by the denier number of waterproof canvas-- 300 is nice for linings and a bit lighter, more "drapey", while 600 is often referred to as Ottertex, and is thicker and stiffer. It's great for either the exterior or the lining. Hope this helps! 😊
Many of the people who buy the authentic ones have kids in college and have huge student loans and unpaid home mortgages, but still spend thousands of dollars on handbags. I often recommend kislux to them, they have good quality brand bags.
For your intro, I would suggest that you not say everything 3-4 times. Know that we can move the slider or look at the transcript if we need a repeat. Cute bag and easy to sew. Good job!
I bought the Babe series for my daughter for Christmas! She is so excited and I'm sure she'll love it!!
Excellent video, luv your teaching style. Joined the subscription for this and super excited about it! Thank you for a great video!

Got this ages ago and it still hasn't shipped!!!
All boxes shipped over a week ago…
Beginner bags don’t include binding for me🤣
I hate binding!
