People talk about how stewie pioneered a style of play abusing smokes, but there's also the flip side. He forced teams to learn to be careful how they put down their smokes and how they treat them. A smoke covering most of an opening isnt going to cut it anymore. It has to be pinpoint perfect or else it will get abused

he's not playing stupid, he knows how to push through the smoke. usually if you push through the smoke you have disadvantage, player on the other side sees you way before you can see them. but stewie pushes from side or jumps through (followed by a mid-air HS) to make it less advantageous for him. also he has element of surprise.

To some extent I miss that about esports. The fighting game community is more set up for trash talk since people play 1v1 instead of having a whole team that has to act a specific way. With team based games, sponsored teams with orgs attached seem to have stricter requirements or at least have gotten much more "professional" over the years. I don't mind that for the most part, but I do wish there were more players with some bite, some taunting, mind games to mess with opponents, or just the perfect type of charisma to talk mad shit with a smile, only for it to then be very satisfying watching them get dumpstered by your favorite player/team.
The fact that he was hated back then for making stupid plays to becoming the first NA team to win the major and win the grand slam shows that no matter the hate or backlash you get from the media, use that to motivate yourself and thats what Stew did.

In the game u dont just go for kills. Instead you prioritize on winning and to win theres different strategies, pop flashes, smokes and also roles in the game. The kills are to stop such awpers wich are annoying at times when being good and rushers, supports, etc. The game is about winning not frags

CT thinks I'm going for bomb. A-site retake, 1v1 or 1v2, Ts have smoked bank. In most cases they smoked the bank because they want to watch other angles. You can go through the smoke quietly because T thinks no one will push. Most likely their first position would be in the left side of the truck close to bins stairs, so pre-aim there.
at dreamhack austin I saw him coming out of the bathroom and on a whim said "hey Stewie, I love your work." he looked at me like I had pulled a gun on him
I love going through smoke as well. But you dont even have to go through, sometimes you can just use an opponents smoke to your advantage when they leave a tiny gap to aim through.

It got even hotter when I'd do it with an awp cos that shit was just straight up disrespectful.
