I'm not just about regurgitaing information from the backs of seed packets!
    Just because all my resources are 'free of charge', to everyone, doesn't mean they aren't good quality. My objective is to make sure that there's no need to be rich to get access to great gardening information. I smiled each time you said wow... That's exactly what I say when I get an unexpectedly large carrot. It's like unwrapping Christmas presents...... or maybe I need to get out more :-)

    Great job there Steve , over the past yrs we never had any look with ours in the ground so stopped trying, we then had two blue water butts that were split so I cut them in half and put carrots in them, I have to say I was gobb smaked at how good they were, I did a rainbow mix and and nantes , tbh I did over sow but we still had really good size caroots come out and we also had a few go to seed, which the dog had raw.
    We left the smaller ones in just to see what would happen in the winter months, I was shocked that we had nice fresh big carrots on Chrismats day and there was also a few left over in mid Jan, ok some not in the best of shape but just has nice to eat .

      Carrots are amazing, we harvest them every week of the year, winter carrots are vastly better than summer ones though : all the best - Steve

    Gorgeous crop. I’m unlucky with carrots 🥕 finally got some to overwinter and grown beautifully but they all went to seed and when I pulled them up they were thumb sized. I’ve just ordered these tubs so will be trying tubs carrots this month

    Hi Steve,glad to see you are in good health,I have some Notion pages Onions,Sowing and Kalettes on my computer but they are not showing on my Notion main page where i have Carrots Brassicas andPotatoes.Any idea on how to get them all together.The Onions etc are bookmarked.Cheers Rob Walker

      Actually I'm not sure Rob, I use notion a lot, but the way I use it is fairly simple. I'm assuming you are trying to integrate pages from my book hosted on Notion, into your own Notion account? If so the best way I know of is for me to share the book with you, rather than for you to bookmark pages, send me the email address for you notion account if you want to try that : All the best - Steve

    Great looking carrots, I grew a couple of tubs in January that I think are ready to harvest, thanks for the reminder. Just a quick question if I may. I can see my garlic are going to be small this year and I’m not sure they will last through until next year. Can I use some of last year’s garlics now to do a couple of tubs of green garlic for harvesting in late winter/spring next year. Thank you.

    • @SteveRichards
      @SteveRichards  Рік тому

      I’m not sure but I think it might be a bit late now, it will probably die back in September. I normally plant my green garlic in October and it’s ready in mid spring. You might be able to fool it though : all the best - Steve

    • @christinathompson1630
      @christinathompson1630 Рік тому

      @@SteveRichards I don’t think I’ll be able to fool it with potentially some 40 C temperatures this summer. It’s already consistently in the 30’s. I’ll wait until October or November when I plant the rest of the garlic. Thanks very much for sharing your knowledge.

    Hi Steve I have never been successful with carrots so trying again this year. How do you know when to harvest before they go to seed? Thanks

    • @SteveRichards
      @SteveRichards  Рік тому

      They go to seed in spring usually, so just harvest this years sowings before then, sometimes an early March sowing might go to seed in May or June, but that’s rare, April and May sowings are safe

    You had a couple going to seed, and you can only eat so many at a time. When they are at this point would you remove them from sun so more don’t bolt? Thanks
