    Good stuff Dan, and I literally have made a start on doing this recently, using containers for Carrots, Parsnips, and even Root Parsley, as the crop is greater and more vigorous than what I used to grow, which was Potatoes.

    Never knew you could do this with carrots. I will say they're a lot tougher than I thought. I missed a few a 2 summers ago and they actually came up this last spring and flowered, now that's in -40-degree Fahrenheit North Dakota winters.

      @homegardens7682  Рік тому

      Wow that's cold. Yes, they are rather hardy, I left some in the ground here and the squirrels were eating them during a snowy period a few weeks ago.

    Valuable knowledge. The women love their plants/flowers!

      @ThirstysURL Рік тому

      Once taught a group of women how to get higher germination rates. Best knowledge I ever game.
      Btw soak them in water until they sink if they don't sink they're dead and won't grow.

      They need tapping past the water tension too.

      No longer than 24hrs or they'll drown.

    What size poly tunnel do you have? Thanks

  • @Annie-49
    @Annie-49 Рік тому +1

    My carrots were rubbish for two seasons on the trot. They were really tiny. They looked great to start, but then they just seemed to stop growing. One year I kept their containers in my poly tunnel, the next year I put them in out in raised beds, but they never grew well. I had finger sized carrots. Well, never give up! I will have another go this year. Third time lucky? 🤔

    I grew the same variety and despite abusing them by not thinning out much, got a reasonable crop. I think they just want to grow, so great for limited space growing for a smaller size. I may go for a giant next year.

    • @homegardens7682
      @homegardens7682  Рік тому +1

      Indeed. Certainly a vigorous variety Denise. I may do the same. We can see how we both do.

      Was just wondering the same. I assume. The carrots you pulled were from the original bucket? Would be great to know how well the transplants went.

      They did well. Very important of course when transplanting they are put in straight. I wanted to include the footage in the video but I lost it somehow. It might be on some storage somewhere here so will have a look through. If not, I will repeat this again this year and make another video on the subject
