Thanks for putting this up, I wrecked my wheelbase side quick release and had to get replacement from Asetek. I was one of the person that raised it as a concern to Asetek. Even their video is edited to remove the portion of the video which moves the base side quick release.
Excellent job Will, I’m a little disappointed in QC issues but these things tend to happen on the fits go around. Excited to see more from Asetek in the future and how they evolve.
Finally finished watching, my main disappointment with this is really the mounting underneath the wheel base! Just like with the new Thrustmaster wheelbase, why not use existing dimensions, to ensure that we all can mount the bases to existing rigs without having to drill holes? It seems like a silly product development overlook/decision.
Huge appreciation for the effort as far as production quality and editing. Gonna have to give Asetek's products another look, but even though it appears a better choice on paper I'm finding it hard to get past the idea of a Simucube being the ultimate option simply because of the very well-established reputation - same reason James Baldwin said the Invicta brake pedal was the best he's ever felt, but I'm still just wanting Heusinkveld. Interesting times - thanks for being a legend as always
I know exactly what you mean. Its still early days and they have a long way to go to prove themselves. Reviews are onyl a tiny piece of the picture. We'll soon know how the products stack up in real customers experiences. I havent seen much negativity toward the pedals from customers though, other than just people who found them subjectivly unsuitable.
Hello Will! Thank you so much for this review. It just confirmed at least to me that Asetek is the way to go for my budget and rig setup. Awesome job mate!
I appreciate the honesty in acknowledging your partnership with Asetek. That’s how all the channels who do product reviews should operate, so good on you man. I’m “stuck” in the Fanatec ecosystem for now with the DD2, shifter, handbrake and too many of their wheels to jump ship, but based on what I’m hearing, I might be selling soon and going an alternate route, just not sure if I want to go the Asetek route or wait a bit and see what a couple of the other big boys come out with in response (if anything?). Either way, great job as usual. Like so many others, I started down this rabbit hole when CV19 hit and you were one of the first I came across who put out consistent, fair reviews and great racing content, so I try to watch everything you throw up that pertains to me (mainly ACC and product reviews atm). Cheers and keep up the great work! You’ve earned your position in this community and should be proud of all you’ve done to share your passion and help bozos like me come to grips with things! 😉 Happy Racing! Jason
Excellent review as always. Looks to be an excellent product as well! I'll stick with my Simucube though. Still very happy with it. We are now at an era in sim racing where technology, and products will always constantly be advancing. It's like computers, phones, ect. Spend a lot of money on the top of the line products, and 6 months later it's considered out dated or old lol.
Thanks Will I was just about to pull the trigger on a SC2 pro, now I have to wait for the Invicta to be in stock at Advanced Simracing. Happy to see you run a ASR4 and give your opinion on the mounting on those rig.
Dude, I noticed you said you were nitpicking a lot. Keep up the nitpicking. These companies seem to respond to it very well! After all, at this point it would seem that the market for wheelbases is pretty solid, but it’s these everyday little nitpicky things we have to live with on the products on the daily basis. Unbelievable work you put in. like many others, I have made my decision for a la prima combo based primarily on your review of it.
Really good looking wheel base. Nice and sleek. This is what my wife said, she's seen them all on UA-cam. Using a CSL dd myself. I also have to agree it looks great.
Gosh, this looks like such an exciting bit of hardware. And as always, thrilled with how in-depth your reviews are, including tearing everything down and analyzing the quality of the guts. Amazing price value, as well.
I bought the Invicta pedals based on your review and I have not regretted that decision for a second. Looks like the Invicta base will be my next upgrade
Is it just me or does seem to not be worth the asking price? A few build quality issues and technical "anomalies" the QR issue is a big red flag for me, stiffer spring or not. Plus, for me being in the US the price isn't really worth it compared to other bases available right now. Might be more attractive for our friends in EU. Amazing content as always Will.
I'm so happy the competitive market has arrived for sim products. It means more choice, hopefully a higher bar for pricing/ value but most importantly multiple feedback channels/ larger environment for R&D ❤ Love my Sc2 pro, more than I'll ever need.
Weird. When hovering on the video thumbnail I first saw a the Moza R9 base. Nice review again! I already decided to go for the Moza GS wheel and CRS pedals since after 13 years finally my G27 gear is dieing
A couple of things spring to mind - the QR is an area of concern, durability wise, if you mount and dismount the wheel a lot. But I was surprised to see the mounting issues/choices on the base and the general little quality issues here and there.
Yes, I was surprised too. Some of the issues could have been fixed or prevented so easily if they came up with a better, or less complicated solution. I have mixed feelings. I am a bit dissapointed. And besides the issues and durability concerns, I don't like the looks of the wheel. On the other hand I like the transparency of Asetek and I am convinced quality control will improve in time. The intentions are good. And more important, I do like they didn't outsource the production to China
Cheers Will and Tom, Great review as always, Super in depth and completely honest which in my opinion is what makes Boosted Media the best review channel on UA-cam Based on this and the Invicta Pedal review, I have decided the Asetek Invicta bundle is definitely the one for me, But not right now for a few reasons listed below 1: Financial (I definitely need to save $$$) 2: The quality control issues that you mentioned 3: Waiting to see what Asetek do with their rig (I was originally looking at the NLR F-GT Elite but don't know if that Asetek front mount will work with the angled aluminium profile) 4: Waiting to see their other wheels especially the Invicta ones 5: I am not desperate to upgrade from my current setup (CSL DD, NLR GT-Track, BJ Steel GT load cell pedals)
I think this wheelbase has 2 major flaws, first is the quick release and the fact you can mount only one wheel on it currently, they said they will make and adapter so you can put 3rd party wheels, but I think you should always be able to put your own quick release just like you can in simucube. If someone wants to change from simucube or vrs, or some or fanatec they can't just change the QR on the base, they have to buy one for every single wheel which is not good. The second thing is the mounting. They could've made this compatibe with both fanatec mounts and with simucube mounts, at least I think they could, if it's not panented on some way. But no, you have to buy special mount, and if you wanna use something new and awesome like asr pro mount which you will be able to buy by itself for your P1-X for example, you can't use it. Sure, you can drill holes, and I'm sure there will be 3rd party adapters and such to fix some of these problems, but they could've made this way more simple and compatible.
I cannot agree more with you on the mounting issue for Asetek. Having such a frustrating time trying to even figure out which rig to buy after purchasing one of the Asetek bundles.
The quick release is the one thing that is in the way of my considering a jump to this motor. I have the wheel shown here and Asetek Invicta pedals. I am currently using a VRS motor with xero-play QR. I have another rig of the same type (GT Omega Prime) with a Fanatec DD2 and Heusinkveld Ultimates and I like the VRS/Asetek combo more. I'd consider dumping the DD2 given how Fanatec customer service has become but the QR is the lynchpin.
Great video! RE the front mount plate, its odd given it costs money to remove material why they didn't leave it as solid as possible (I appreciate it might not look as aesthetically pleasing) . Sounds like they need to deburr and remove the laser cut in point around the flange ID.
Hi team, love your content. Just an FYI people watch you because you're an honest man following his dream. Please don't feel the need to justify your driving during the review. It's awesome watching even when you make mistakes...... like touching the inside curb at the end of Conrod and losing the backend :) In the same situation I would have been in the wall! Besides, why do we really care what others think? Be you, be great.
Asetek has come up with a cover for the wires on the back. Just bought the invicta with the front mount:D And you dont need to fiddle with the screws to the bolt
So I just received the Invicta wheelbase and forte wheel. It’s fantastic and I’m really glad I made the change from the fanatec dd1. The FFB feel is much better detail, faster change/slew and I like the open QR ecosystem that will allow other wheels soon (June release of the QR adapter). I think I would have also been very happy with her forte wheelbase like Dave cam and boosted media says re: the maximum nm of torque, but I was able to go for the Invicta to get the max slew rate. The software js fairly good given its new, getting better with releases and active discord support folks every day and a feedback channel, I expect more software refinement there over time. I looked at the sc2 pro as well. Clearly asetek is invested in this higher end market, but honestly they made a design mistake by forcing the purchase of their mount due to their bolt pattern/hole size of 87mm which is stupid and a cash grab for buyers to get their mount or drill your own holes if you have a flat mount. Too bad as they could have avoided that complaint which is common, not a deal breaker but something to consider and know ahead of time.
@@Justdigit2 yes I really like it and it’s noticeable over the DD1. And the open ecosystem with the quick release coming this month means you can use a lot of different wheels. Fanatec has good stuff for sure but you are locked into their ecosystem, their quick release is terrible and the slew rate of the motor and ffb is not as quick or detailed. I know it’s a subjective thing but I am glad I sold my fanatec gear (it went quickly for a good prove) and switched over.
@@patrickmurray1246 Okay thanks for the honest opinion.... Where do I find an Asetek Community where they give some settings per game....i am very bad at adjusting my gear..
How is the QR system open? You still have pay for an Asetek QR and then if you wanted to change wheelbase would have to change all your wheels. Compared to fanatec, yes it is slightly more open in the sense that they will work with wheel manufacturers to have the QR already fit but you're still paying for the privilege, just slightly more convenient. The QR does look better quality than Fanatec however, of course that's a low bar.
Hopefully their quality control gets better as I’ll be in the market for either this or Simucube. Simple things like mounts not fitting properly is a big turn off imo. Im a machinists and those sort of stuff happens when quality control is low or maybe their blueprint tolerances are off. Simucube build quality and reliability will definitely be hard to beat.
I got 2 Moza rigs a R5 and R12 with CRP pedals and the whole family of Moza products like shifters and hand brake different wheels for gt racing and my favorite sim drifting and it's all been ROZCK SOLID
One thing that is really annoying is that the base switch the torque off after a few minutes hands off. Had a few times going out of the pits and no ffb 🙁. Who has this fantastic idea??? Hope this changes in the future… Imagine you wait for your stint and you forget switching on torque… 😵💫😵💫😵💫
Man im super tempted to swoop this bundle up my microcenter has the tommy kanan edition bundle for $999 it's a steal at that price the wheel alone is like $600 if you buy it by itself the bundle not onsale is $1800 should i get it
Small question, I see you lowering the wheelbase output but what's your game gain? I thougt, to keep the higher quality of FFB, the concept was to keep the base at max and lower the game gain so you can still have the headroom for big impact and don't clip? Huge review and awesome job! Can't wait to receive mine!
I prefer to lower the output of the motor in the driver to the maximum amount of torque I ever want to feel, I then adjust my in game setting to fine tune to the amount of torque I want to feel with regular driving, and check to ensure there is no clipping. In theory it makes sense to want to make use of the full dynamic range available, but personally I dont want my arms to be torn off in a crash.
I can say firsthand the quality control is an issue so far with Asetek sim sports. I’ve had their Invictus paddles since launch and already have a broken clutch arm and a leaking Thorpe hydraulic cylinder. I already have a support ticket open for three weeks now so customer service hasn’t been the best either. Instead of doing the right thing and sending you out a new set of pedals, they send you parts for you to repair yourself, which took hours.
Moza customer service is next level I had a issue with the USB port on my R12 it was my fault to Moza still fixed it no questions asked I even said it was my fault I was blessed by Moza they sent a whole new board and I soldered it in
An emergency button should be easy to press, like the mushroom-type ones. Don't need to be precise trying to find it, just smash it. Wonder how that'd work with this one.
Excellent review as always! Regarding the clutch paddles, can they be repositioned anywhere on the wheel then? They dont have to be positioned at the bottom, they could be mid height or right at the top?
Sounds like asetek isn’t without day 1 quirks, but less so than simicube and moza according to OP. From previous comments on simicube and moza on initial inception testing. From this video and others, it seems like there’s no denying built quality on the wheels they sell is limited by the limited amount of choices. Finally, do you have a video comparing the simicube 2 vs asetek forte. I’d like to see how they compare while understanding that simicube is going to be more expensive and have more power. Due to simicube being 25 vs 18 NM for thei second tier comparison
Hard to say. I have a feeling the way they measure their slew rate may be different from how Asetek measure theirs, and if thats the case then the Simucube motors may not be able to physically match the response time offered by the Invicta base. But in terms of all the other aspects we discussed I'd say yes. Remember though we are talking about very small differences. Ultimately all the top tier direct drive bases are pretty awesome these days and you're going to be satisfied regardless of what you buy.
Hello. I have watched your rev of Fanatec ClubSport DD & DD+, would you say the Asatek La Prima is better? And if both of them compared which one would come on top? THX.
Do any of the ecosystems (like Asetek, Fanatec, etc.) enable an owner to upgrade (via trade-in) from a lower powered wheel base to a higher power one by sending back the lower powered unit and paying an upgrade charge to get the higher powered unit?
Sounds like a really great start for Asetek! I'm curious, how does the driving experience of this feel like compared to the Logitech G PRO with Trueforce? I just wonder what Trueforce is like compared to the best "normal" force feedback :)
Discussed this in the review. Trueforce on the GPro has a bit more fine detail in things like road texture. But less detail and response in cornering forces which is probably more important.
Hi will great vid as always, I literally just ordered my fist dd wheelbase a SC2 Pro with an fpro wheel and invicta pedals. Should I be calling them and swapping the pro for an invicta?
Great video as usual and thank you for the content. Asetek made some statements regarding console compatibility a couple months ago. Do you know if they’re still working this and / or how close they are? Last I heard they were ready to produce but needed to secure the proper chips for compatibility. Thanks again!
You should have the same steering input ratio, but tighten up the steering rack. You're losing a lot of front tyre feel by not having the wheel rotation 1:1
Best set I ever had is the new plug and play Logitech pro wheels. Replaced my DDI podium. Podium need to be reset or glitch out or doesn’t work. I don’t have time for that I work 12 hours a day, I don’t have time for dealing shyt like this.
Hey Will! First of all thanks for the great review as usual. Please tell me what you think about my idea. I have a Simagic Mini, I would keep my wheels (with the ''female'' quick releases) and I would fit the male part of the quick release to the Invicta motor using the VRS DFP adapter (looks like both motors have the same shaft size). Yes I know all my wheels would be connected via USB, wich they already are. Thanks!
Potential issue with slip ring tech is that you're primarily just using the same small area of the full rotation. And this is going to wear first. But still a good design and materials should last a long time.
That was the first thing that jumped out to me. The conditions under which the slip-ring was rated are unlikely to be anything like what a sim wheelbase goes through. I hope it works out for them though, because the possibility of having an integrated bring-your-own-wheel quick release with USB is very appealing, although it doesn't sound like they're offering that right away.
i was initially concerned with the slip ring design aswell until i did a little research to figure out how long it might last, if you do a 24 hour race at SPA the record amount of laps is 589... 20 corners per lap, do that 589 times is 11780 corners... lets say you do two 24 hour races a week so a solid 48 hours a week of driving that would be 23560 corners, in one month if you were to do two 24 hour races a week thats 94240 corners a month, keep that up for a year and you are up to over 1 million turns... this means after 5 years or so the slip ring on a moza R5 would be finished (MOZA claim 5 million rotation lifespan on their slip ring)... lets not forget asetek rate theirs to 200 million, 1 million turns a year you should get 200 years out of it right lol lets take into account FFB though, corners are not 1 smooth motion, the wheel probably shakes left and right 3 times in one corner right so lets call it not 20 corners but 60 corners, that still comes out at about 3.4 million ''rotations'' a year... the moza would be finished in under 2 years, the Asetek will last 58 years... and thats doing two 24 hours of spa a week, every week for 58 years. By the way i know this is far from a realistic scenario and there are way more things to consider, i absolutely dont think the slip ring will last 58 years even if the rest of it does, but i think we could realistically see 20 years out of it with no issues.
Hi love your content. and your rig is sick. I have a ? I can get the Simagic alpha u or the asetek invicta price difference is about $500 usd. i do like the quick release that haves the usb on the side. What you think.
Shame on Asetek for not sending Will gear that was issue free. Busting out a Dremel…yikes! I have invicta S pedals on preorder but this kinda thing worries me.
Will has said he won’t even deal with simagic anymore after having such poor experiences with their personnel previously. That should tell you everything you need to know about simagic, it’s run by the worst assholes in the industry.
Hello Will and all the community can you tell me if I can run asetek on Ps5 i would love to play it on Gran turismo 7 .ps excellent video one more time thank you for your work.
Not sure who else to ask.. I bought an Asetek bundle, but seeing your comments on mounting, I'm wondering the best way to mount Asetek base to my TrakRacer Tr8? Will the bottom mount work even if it 'hangs off' the mounting platform ?
A few months on, where do you stand with this product? I noticed in your latest videos you are still using the SC2 as your main. I'm looking into this or the SC2 Pro and having trouble deciding. The additional slew rate is nice here, but i'm not very confident with how the wires go through the motor and having to move the quick release to attach to my rig seems risky. Any chance I could get your input?
@@boostedmedia do they actually detect what car you are driving? Wonder how else got mobile app except Cammus to quickly switch profile (soon via voice).
1:03:30 got the answer. And this is another reason to shoot DD software comparison video. Features and terminology, based on your unique experience. Common problems and different solutions in SW tools.
I've had a forte button box wheel for one month. It has the same toggles as the forte wheel, If the wheel whips around and hits your hand the toggles will break. Further, Asetek will state that usage is not in accordance with intent and will not honour their warranty. Ordering direct from Asetek also makes such claims and even returns difficult with shipping costs in Australia leaving you out of pocket. Worth noting. Great product in every other respect but not honouring the warranty left a pretty bad taste in my mouth.
Very good question and something I probably should have made clearer in the video so thanks for asking. Half our testing with the Invicta and all our testing on the Forte was done with the new firmware fix and it made no noticeable difference unless the interpolation filter was set to off, which most people wont be doing anyway because things start to feel a bit robotic. So I don't personally see it as a concern.
What is your daily driver pedal set? I am looking into getting a rig for myself and was looking mainly at your reviews and Dan Suzuki's reviews and I can't choose a pedal set. Should I go with the VRS Direct Force Pro, the Asetek Invicta set or maybe even a Simgrade R7? I know you daily-d the HE Ultimates, but saw you praising the Invicta's brake pedal and also the VRS set too. Dan said he'd go with the VRS set if he only had to have one set of pedals. What would you choose if you were only allowed to have one set of pedals?
I'm running the Invicta pedals still as they suit my driving style best. But would be equally happy running VRS or HE Ultimate +. Those are my top 3 currently.
Hey will, Would you say you need less interpolation filter/recon with the asetek base, to get completely rid of the sandy feeling around the center on iracing? The sc2 needs a recon of 6 to be really smooth, but then everything else is a bit delayed and washed out. On 3 its great, but the center and direction changed in general are a bit grainy. I wonder if the asetek base can be really that different, the settings look like the truedrive ones, just with different names haha
I can’t speak to iRacing, but experience in other sims. Any previous “grainy feeling” I had setting recon filter to “1” is now non existent for the last year or so for me personally. Granite D did some updates/work in this area I believe.
Will how do I get a hold of a universal wheel hub like you showed the video? I’m running Rally and Off-road and want to run the Rim I run in my race car
With f1 22, would you say that it feels different on this vs a csl elite? Or a csl dd? My next base was going to be a csl dd but I really like the look of this. But obviously if the difference is negligible between this and a dd then it’s not worth it. I’m really hopeful that there’s enough detail in the actual game that any upgrade from a csl elite is worth it
Its a long shot but here we go...i bought a forte recently and it gets so hot!!(You really cant touch it ) Ive under the impression that i loose a bit of strenght in corner when it heats up...im puzzled..any help please ?
I have a question. When you have the base and wheel connected. In game controllers in Windows. What does it show ? Example for Fanatec it shows base/base . If you could let me know this I would appreicate it.
Is the only quick release for Asetek bases the Asetek EU 150 quick release? Is there a EU 50 wheel base solution for third party which doesn't have USB, chips and other things? Thanks...
have to say... i was really on the fence about buying one of these and selling my simucube and honestly im still on the fence, im so close to ordering one but i cant ignore the little issues here and there, i dont think i can replace my simucube with this with a clear no worry conscience, i think knowing the QR can pop off under load would be in the back of my mind for example, when i had a fanatec DD1 even though it drove ok i knew there was play in the QR and every now and then i would wiggle the wheel in disappointment wondering if it feels any worse or better etc... i just couldn't deal with it in my mind and it had to go. gosh i dont know.... i do really wanna order this, convince me not to please haha.
I wouldn't trade my simucube for anything right now. I checked the prices out of curiousity on their website, and I don't think that's such a big gap in pricing between SC and this bases(except the ultimate). When I see QR on a wheelbase it's a big NO for me, just 1 more posible problem that you have keep in mind.
@@Martin-vn9fr yeh... thanks for the input, my other concern with the review is when talking about the QR being able to be pulled off he said asetek said to him they were going to change the springs but later in the review he said by the time the review goes live the QR might be available to buy... which means they probably didn't change the springs then and are hoping its just ignored... little things like that i just dont like, corner cutting.
@@jinx20001 I was told they are swapping out the springs in all their existing stock, which is one of the reasons a halt as been placed on shipping pre-orders, along with re-terminating the internal connection to the wheel interface we mentioned in the review.
@@jinx20001 Asetek has already called a halt to all pending shipments untill they have the springs replaced. They have also offered those who have already received their kit to take it back and get those fixed as well. in my experience, Asetek does everything but cutting corners here.
Appreciate the review but costs too much for entry. Too many proprietary parts that don’t allow for me to use my current setup. I’d have to get a new mounting solution and additional parts. Costs more than the 20nm VRS. The wheel for the price looks a little too much like a toy and the production models aren’t much better in quality. For $1000 or more. Can’t see justifying this myself. Great review and calling out the issues.
I’ll still use the SC2 Ultimate on the main rig. The Invicta is unfortunately unsuitable as it won’t blend in as well and I would need to buy hub adaptors for about 30 wheels. My needs on that rig are very specific. If it was purely just for my own enjoyment and the QR was available to buy now I would swap though.
@@boostedmedia Haha, sorry, my fault, I am stupid, watched it during work and missed the section for whatever disturbed me at this point 😂 thanks anyway for the hint!
I've also noticed how much filtering can effect forcefeedback, even on a cheaper csl dd pro. That's why I have every filtering option turned off, makes everything feel more responsive.
Looks extremely cheap… although that qr looks amazing … I have the sc2 pro wheelbase and wish I had a good quick release to use. On the market this looks the best to me… maybe I’ll just order the cube qrx and call it a day
@@philrob4468 Why don’t you like QR of SC2 PRO ? Everyone talks that QR of SC2 PRO is perfect. I bought new QR of Fanatec the PRO version and it’s rock solid, no pin or anything else needed, real race car FIA approved (prove of quality and trust for the product) and steering in&out in just seconds. In my opinion NO.1 and only REAL QR.

Really cover every base in these reviews, great stuff!
As a Dane, I have been looking forward to this review for quite a while, crossing my fingers that the outcome is positive!
Love what you do!
Thanks very much for the support!

I also have to agree it looks great.
ur wife sounds like a cool chick
Gosh, this looks like such an exciting bit of hardware. And as always, thrilled with how in-depth your reviews are, including tearing everything down and analyzing the quality of the guts. Amazing price value, as well.
I bought the Invicta pedals based on your review and I have not regretted that decision for a second. Looks like the Invicta base will be my next upgrade
Have you used vrs or imsims tantento pedals?
Is it just me or does seem to not be worth the asking price? A few build quality issues and technical "anomalies" the QR issue is a big red flag for me, stiffer spring or not. Plus, for me being in the US the price isn't really worth it compared to other bases available right now. Might be more attractive for our friends in EU. Amazing content as always Will.
I'm so happy the competitive market has arrived for sim products. It means more choice, hopefully a higher bar for pricing/ value but most importantly multiple feedback channels/ larger environment for R&D ❤
Love my Sc2 pro, more than I'll ever need.
Weird. When hovering on the video thumbnail I first saw a the Moza R9 base. Nice review again! I already decided to go for the Moza GS wheel and CRS pedals since after 13 years finally my G27 gear is dieing
Sounds like the one I will want, Excelent review and WOW what a system!!
Brilliant review Will
You da man 👊
Another great review, Will. I'm starting to feel very inferior with my DD1 nowadays :(
Brilliant video as always 👍
Amazing review as always...
Cheers Will and Tom,
Great review as always, Super in depth and completely honest which in my opinion is what makes Boosted Media the best review channel on UA-cam
Based on this and the Invicta Pedal review, I have decided the Asetek Invicta bundle is definitely the one for me, But not right now for a few reasons listed below
1: Financial (I definitely need to save $$$)
2: The quality control issues that you mentioned
3: Waiting to see what Asetek do with their rig (I was originally looking at the NLR F-GT Elite but don't know if that Asetek front mount will work with the angled aluminium profile)
4: Waiting to see their other wheels especially the Invicta ones
5: I am not desperate to upgrade from my current setup (CSL DD, NLR GT-Track, BJ Steel GT load cell pedals)
Maybe I should start opening up wheel bases! lol
Waiting on my pre-order from November 2022 to be queued up for fulfillment!
Andre will have watched this review and gone through a whole spectrum of emotions as you alternately spanked and caressed his product.
Great review as always I’m just stuck now between Asetek invicta or Simagic alpha u as wanting to upgrade from fanatec csl dd
Hi team, love your content.
Just an FYI people watch you because you're an honest man following his dream.
Please don't feel the need to justify your driving during the review.
It's awesome watching even when you make mistakes...... like touching the inside curb at the end of Conrod and losing the backend :)
In the same situation I would have been in the wall!
Besides, why do we really care what others think?
Be you, be great.
The first one that goes on sale between this, simucube and vrs is what will get my business
What did you end up with?
Asetek has come up with a cover for the wires on the back. Just bought the invicta with the front mount:D And you dont need to fiddle with the screws to the bolt
Great review.
So it's a massive upgrade?? I am a bit concerned on the Asetek company. Fanatec has earned their professionalism....
@@patrickmurray1246How and where you sold your DD1 so rapid ? I want to sell my Fanatec stuff like DD2 and others but can’t get it sold
@@boostedmedia makes sense, thanks for your answer!
@@TheDoK666 you're welcome
When will console support be available on the Invicta wheelbase? As soon as that happens I’ll buy it. Outstanding review Will!
Ouch that’s not great news.
Moza customer service is next level I had a issue with the USB port on my R12 it was my fault to Moza still fixed it no questions asked I even said it was my fault I was blessed by Moza they sent a whole new board and I soldered it in
Hi Boosted, does this base also work with drivehub? thanks in advance and thanks for the top video.
Im no engineer, but it seems like they overlooked quite a few things here.
An emergency button should be easy to press, like the mushroom-type ones. Don't need to be precise trying to find it, just smash it. Wonder how that'd work with this one.
1:02:55 - they've implemented quite unique feature that almost eliminate the need to have the button.
I see problems with QC. Not a SC killer in any stretch at this stage. Looks waaaaay better without that awful plastic cover.
Excellent review as always!
Regarding the clutch paddles, can they be repositioned anywhere on the wheel then? They dont have to be positioned at the bottom, they could be mid height or right at the top?
Really wanted to like Asetek if it wasn't for such a pain in the ass to mount their wheelbase to cockpits out there.
Great video as always Will. Do you think Simucube can match the detail of this base with software updates?
Hard to say. I have a feeling the way they measure their slew rate may be different from how Asetek measure theirs, and if thats the case then the Simucube motors may not be able to physically match the response time offered by the Invicta base. But in terms of all the other aspects we discussed I'd say yes. Remember though we are talking about very small differences. Ultimately all the top tier direct drive bases are pretty awesome these days and you're going to be satisfied regardless of what you buy.
Awesome answer. Thanks man!!
Hello.
I have watched your rev of Fanatec ClubSport DD & DD+, would you say the Asatek La Prima is better? And if both of them compared which one would come on top? THX.
I wonder why they did come with a formula wheel first. I was under the impression most people uses gt wheels
@@boostedmedia oh alright, didnt watch the whole review. Thanks for replying!
Thanks!
Just about to get a VRS D Pro base after your update review. Still worth it in comparison to the Forte?
Honestly I think you'll be over the moon with either.
How does it compare to Simagic? Doubting between these two brands for my next set after coming from a Fanatec Clubsport
Between this and Simagic is what I'd be most curious on
@@thelizardfolk Glad I'm not the only one wondering😁
It would be miles above a simagic. Simucube is miles above and will is saying this is the same if not better.
@@barrymanon9459 I heard the sim magic alpha u is close to the simucube
Will has said he won’t even deal with simagic anymore after having such poor experiences with their personnel previously. That should tell you everything you need to know about simagic, it’s run by the worst assholes in the industry.
Do you happen to know the actual slew rate of the VRS DFP?
Other than Moza R16, this is 2nd best looking base I've seen. Too $$$ vs my $565 Moza R5.
Hello Will and all the community can you tell me if I can run asetek on Ps5 i would love to play it on Gran turismo 7 .ps excellent video one more time thank you for your work.
Not at this time unfortuantely.
5:24 - Why is there no "Simagic" in the diagram?
Does the USB-C work as a pass through for other brand pedals/shifters?
are you still using this base and if you are is still worth it?
Not sure who else to ask.. I bought an Asetek bundle, but seeing your comments on mounting, I'm wondering the best way to mount Asetek base to my TrakRacer Tr8?
Will the bottom mount work even if it 'hangs off' the mounting platform ?
Not sure sorry. I don’t have experience with the TR8
What did you end up with?
Wheelbases need to start adding per-car automatic profile switching, like motion platform software does. Its sooo much better.
Fanatec are doing that now. Works really well
@@boostedmedia do they actually detect what car you are driving?
I wonder if the base will stay as responsive under oversteer after the firmware update to prevent power supply cut out.🤔
Very good question and something I probably should have made clearer in the video so thanks for asking.
@@boostedmedia thank you very much for your response! The spring in the Asetek shop is harder than the one included with the throttle pedal right?
@@schadow0418 yes it is

Hey will,
Would you say you need less interpolation filter/recon with the asetek base, to get completely rid of the sandy feeling around the center on iracing? The sc2 needs a recon of 6 to be really smooth, but then everything else is a bit delayed and washed out. On 3 its great, but the center and direction changed in general are a bit grainy. I wonder if the asetek base can be really that different, the settings look like the truedrive ones, just with different names haha
I’m pretty sure asektek bought simucubes code and software then implemented it into their product.
@@barrymanon9459 yeah that’s also what I was thinking
I don’t notice any grainy feeling at all with the filter turned down as low as 1
I can’t speak to iRacing, but experience in other sims. Any previous “grainy feeling” I had setting recon filter to “1” is now non existent for the last year or so for me personally. Granite D did some updates/work in this area I believe.
How do you compare them to VRS mate?
Will how do I get a hold of a universal wheel hub like you showed the video? I’m running Rally and Off-road and want to run the Rim I run in my race car
With f1 22, would you say that it feels different on this vs a csl elite? Or a csl dd? My next base was going to be a csl dd but I really like the look of this. But obviously if the difference is negligible between this and a dd then it’s not worth it. I’m really hopeful that there’s enough detail in the actual game that any upgrade from a csl elite is worth it
Its a long shot but here we go...i bought a forte recently and it gets so hot!!(You really cant touch it )
Ive under the impression that i loose a bit of strenght in corner when it heats up...im puzzled..any help please ?
sounds like a faulty unit
is it better than simcube 2 pro?
I wonder why they are keeping the La Prima so quiet. I can't find anything about it.
Dont order this shit. Let them other alpha buyers get it. Will take 1-2 years when all the little problems will get Sorted out.
They have also offered those who have already received their kit to take it back and get those fixed as well. in my experience, Asetek does everything but cutting corners here.
do they make a Quick release so i can attach other steering wheels onto the base, than just asetek ones?
Appreciate the review but costs too much for entry. Too many proprietary parts that don’t allow for me to use my current setup. I’d have to get a new mounting solution and additional parts. Costs more than the 20nm VRS. The wheel for the price looks a little too much like a toy and the production models aren’t much better in quality. For $1000 or more. Can’t see justifying this myself. Great review and calling out the issues.
When do you think you will be getting the la prima in Will
May have been asked already but will you continue to use your ultimate on your personal rig or migrate to this base?
I’ll still use the SC2 Ultimate on the main rig. The Invicta is unfortunately unsuitable as it won’t blend in as well and I would need to buy hub adaptors for about 30 wheels. My needs on that rig are very specific.
If it was purely just for my own enjoyment and the QR was available to buy now I would swap though.
That's 5400USD in case anyone is wondering
Isn't there any chance to mount it directly to the rig (like a CSL DD for example?), so do I need the metal thing to buy from Asetek?
