Maria is so sweet! Hope you bring her along somewhere else or see her again soon. Take her out to explore a new place together where they speak Spanish could be very useful.
She was so so nice.. in Simons work you could meet people who are dodgy. She was so down to earth and very welcoming. So big shout out to Uruguay lovely country and people
I loved seeing her showing you around and showing you the sights! You two have such great travel chemistry together! She should join you on more videos as her schedule allows, she's great!
Simon. I vote yes on bringing back your old intro music. It always peps me up for the day. Also great video. I’m very interested in visiting Uruguay now. I was missing that beautiful Welsh accent too!
I'm a Canadian living in Uruguay for 25 years now. I love it here. Fortunately I make a good living here and compared to Canada it is less expensive. For the Uruguayans it is very expensive here.
Seeing a lot coming here in Buenos Aires too and governments really have to step in to reduce the ongoing gentrification, locals shouldn't have to deal with the consequence of high living costs on the other side of the globe. This is exactly one of the reasons extreme right movements are rising.
Yes, a 2 Bedroom apartment in North Vancouver BC Canada runs at $2500.00/month, and food, gas, and electricity has all gotten out of hand. To buy an apartment along the water in North Vancouver (No Beach - old industrial site) starts at $1 million. As a Retiree, my wife and I are Hurting Bad, I miss the Canada pre 2015, when people could fulfill their dreams by hard work, but now there does not seem to be any hope.
What a fantastic lady you met. She was so lovely. Brought you all across the city and got you to a place with lovely food. I'd love to visit her country just from this video. Great video again mate look forward to the next one. Ynwa Liverpool mate
Thanks for the videos Simon. Always make me feel positive and wanting to travel again. I've not travelled for over two years due to illness and surgeries but will be doing again soon. Loved watching the videos.
Hey Simon, there was an amazing video. I feel like you taught us so much in just that short few moments about a place. I’ve never really known anything about stunning. Food looked really good. I do like matte . Great video.
So good to see a new video pop up from you, loved it! I hope there is more to come, iv just gone through and watched pretty much every one of your old vids, i need more!! 🤣
That still doesn't change the fact that there are 49million kangaroos in Australia and 3.5million people in Uruguay which means if the kangaroos were to invade Uruguay, each person will have to fight 14 kangaroos ...
Very nice to see you in Uruguay! It is indeed a very underrated country and very unknown outside of LATAM, probably our own fault for having zero marketing. A few points to add in terms of the costs of living in Uruguay: - It is expensive yes, but Uruguay has the highest minimum salary and highest GDP per capita in LATAM (maybe except some colony islands). - Flats by the Rambla are expensive, but you can buy a 1 bedroom flat for maybe 150k or 200k USD max. You can find for around 110k USD in some neighborhoods around it. - Teachers in Uruguay make a bit over 1000 USD a month (44 000 pesos), it is maybe more than in some countries in Europe. - It is a country of only 3 million people so the internal market is very small. Most things need to be imported. - Uruguay protects lobbies, which have exclusivity to import certain products. This makes it even more expensive. You should return one day and see Punta del Este, Punta Ballena and some of the costal towns.
I honestly think he's cost Liverpool trophies this season, absolutely awful conversion rate. Need to sell him or loan him out. Good player but can't finish.
Super video Simon. I've read that it's the most European style country in Latin America. I'ts great that you show us some of Uruguay and to know its one of the safest countries in South America to visit and life.Beautiful place!
Have a friend that lives in Uruguay. We haven’t spoke in a while but she was so in love with her country. Uruguay is so full of life and exploration and discovery. Some of the most important discoveries of all time were made in Uruguay.
I was in Punta del Este, Uruguay in March 2023 and honestly it's one of the best places I have ever visited. Them late night empanadas after the bars close just hit different. I have plans for Viña del Mar in Chile for March 2025. That red wine gonna hit nicely.
Surely his football knowledge annoyed you slightly🤣 I’m English and when he was banging on about Darwin Nunez all I called think was what about luis Suarez..Diego Forlan..Edison cavani..🤦🏻♂️
Made me lol when you was talking about how clean the place was as you were walking past all that graffiti. Even your friend Mary said how people are complaining about it 😂😂
Im from England but i hope to visit Uruguay and Argentina went to Montevideo and punte del este when i was 2 years old. My mum is from Montevideo and uncle from Buenos Aires Argentina two great countries i will visit and the beaches and architecture in Montevideo is so beautiful

I actually walk fast so I appreciated the pace, and we only had a couple of hours so🤷🏻🤣

I’m out of breath just watching this how fast they are going 😀
This was honestly your best video ever. You need to do more like these where you get a local and run around all the place and they explain stuff.

Simon not liking mate and offering to send Yorkshire Tea is hilarious.
I don't like mate either and I have never drunk coffee.
What a sweet soul Maria is! Her matte drinking reminds me of my daughter who is hooked on matte following a visit to Buenos Aires...
Aww, I love Maria's energy and how proud she is of her city. That sandwich looked fire. Now I want one.
To be fair it seems like a very nice place to live

$500 for a studio apartment?! That’s a really really good deal here in America.

Yes, but the minimum salary in Uruguay is 500...and average salary is between 900 and 1200..so it's not that cheap
