Other ways of cheating pipe in the front fender wells. All the holes welded shut on bumper at a show that doesn't allow loaded bumpers, double body panels list goes on.
Another thing is the rocker panels and the frame take a piece of angle iron that's just as wide as what the top of the frame is and weld it down. Then take a sledge hammer and pound the rockers into the frame. Feel normal on the channel frames if you stick your hand in a spot connect that angle iron to where you talked about in front of the humps. You can bring the angle iron all the way up to the front body mount and suck the body tight against the frame had to tell anything unless experienced.
You can also lay flat steel on top of the frame where the body sits down on and wrap it around the humps and down throw some grease or mud on it. Too noticeable on fords though mainly on cars that has the body sitting flat against the frame. Some other signs frame has clay stuck all over it, painted frame, tar, and pretty much any thing else as a cover up. That all hooked together you're left with what's up front. Bolting the A-frames down after an inspector leaves is another one.
with the bubble top (or newer) model fords they cut the front frame at the fire wall and pull it down ford front ends 98% of the time go up anyway so the give it more time to do so and it make the fronts alot harder
He even tried running a hidden gas tank for more run time and all it did was bust and catch fire( fire ended his night, figured he suffered enough losing the car to flames) a lady was declared the victor with a '78 Chevy sedan that was about 2 and a half feet shorter.
as for filling holes. i bet u i could make those holes dissappear without adding steal other than weldmaterial. u just use a mig and go tap by tap all the way around. grind it all flat. fill the low spots with weld again amd grind it flat again. but like u said. who is gonna not cheat on purpose
Me too, this car was built after warning the cheaters what I could do. Watch the old Buckeye derby on here. My 6 hour 71 stock build. Against 7 cheated cars. I took them all on and won.
Good ideas but not even close to some of the stuff they run around here 80s moni Carlo I helped a guy cut a full-size impala frame down to fit this car an he ran agenst the full-size cars after his ran 2 mini an in the full he stood a 80 model chevy up
Do you know if the cadillac fleetwood frames from 1985 are tough? I just bought a fleetwood brougham stretch limo for the european banger races so i'm wondering if they're tough wreckers or not
Man you would not believe how much people cheat on the rules, adding sheets of metal, bolts, and who knows what else. Guess I need to cheat with them next year. hmmm
Yeah there's many ways to bend the rules as long as you can get bye the tech guys I don't know about you but I've seen cars sent home it also has to do with what kinda money is at stake small time state fairs a little easier but big money shows you really gotta be on top of your game and for the most part they know all the tricks and so do your fellow competitor's that will scream bloody murder if they think something is a foul didn't mean to bust balls very informative but take it with a grain of salt just my opinion thank you
Rust hides everything lol I learned how to weld on derby cars as a kid from the frame seams to drilling out more spot welds all over the body the early 70's Chevy wagons were the best things other than imperials
A long time ago someone put cinderblocks in between panels , they knew right away after a few good hits didn't even wrinkle stuff that this individual was cheating
hey where i live they demos are really different and they don tech the cars really hard what can i do to a 83 caprice 4 door to give me a advantage??? the prize to win is $1000

Don't forget tilting the front, a lot of people do that around here.
People used cut open frames and put another frame inside of it and weld it solid
