I have lived in Vegas for 40 years. I have seen this city grow and change...where other cities make their old buildings historical landmarks, we like to implode buildings and build new ones...we are funny that way. And I've seen the beginnings of the buffets when they were bad and priced at $1.99, to petty damn good at $8.99, to the best in the world at $60.00 for dinner. As for things you can do for free/or cheap...we have Red Rock Canyon and yes the rocks are actually Red. And Mt Charleston. That is for the nature lovers. Yes both are off the strip, but Vegas is more than just the strip or downtown. There is also the Hoover Damn overlook, as well as Lake Mead itself...even though the levels are low, it is still the largest man made Lake this side of Mississippi. And it's amazing to see. And the biggest thing to do for free, the strip itself...walking or driving it during the day is really cool. But doing it at night, it's the only place in the world that you can see from space. The lights are definitely a sight to behold. Things that are pretty cheap, the NEON Mueseum, even though we implode buildings, we keep the signs that were a top those buildings. The tour is literally a history lesson in Las Vegas, and if you go at night, all the signs are lit up. It's amazing. Another Mueseum, our Mob Mueseum. I don't even think Chicago has one of these. When the mob was here it was actually one of the safest cities in America...not the mention our ex mayor was the lawyer for several of those men. U name another city that has enuf guts to vote a "mob lawyer" as their mayor? Oh and his wife is the current mayor. One last thing, the Mirage Volcano, if you want to see it you might want to make it fast. The Mirage has been bought and they are doing what we always do, imploding, and building a brand new hotel. Like I said we are funny that way... Yes we can be expensive to stay here. And now that we have the Raiders (NFL), the Golden Knights (NHL), The Lights (AA MLS), and might and I do mean might be getting the Oakland As (MLB), and even talks of an expansion team for the NBA. We are now a sports town.. Either way, spending money, or doing things for free or cheap..all I can say, enjoy your stay here... Sorry this post was so long....wanted to get as much info in this as possible.
"And I've seen the beginnings of the buffets when they were bad and priced at $1.99, to petty damn good at $8.99, to the best in the world at $60.00 for dinner. Vegas has such a great vibe! I live in Salt Lake City so it’s only a 6 hour drive for me! I’m going at the end of March for 5 days to celebrate my 23rd birthday. I always was so fascinated with Vegas when I was a kid, and it’s so amazing to finally go now as an adult and enjoy what Vegas has to offer! It’s such a fun place. My favorite thing to do there is just walk around the strip and sip my drink!
We have enjoyed the Flamingo Habitat twice. We got to know an old bird through the docent the first time, and sadly she was gone the second time. But they definitely remembered her when I asked about her. Thanks for the video!

Great tips Ruby, thank you. Based on my experience, I would add: - The Fabulous Las Vegas Sign - Train wall painting on the place of the former LV train station with some details about the beginning of LV - Golden Nugget (Guinness Book) - Golden Nugget Shark Tank Swimming Pool - Piece of original Fremont lightning - Visiting the famous TV Show Pawn Store (popular in Europe) - Art Installations at Tony Hsieh Container City It's not free but a lot of fun - Senor Frog Bar with all those funny signs.
Great video, Ruby! Here's a couple of things you missed downtown: Ringo Starr's hand prints at the El Cortez, and the world's largest nugget of gold at the Golden Nugget.
Awesome Video! My mom used to love going to Bellagio with her husband. She died last month, just one month and a week before her 82nd birthday. She would have loved this video!!!
I remember being in Vegas in December 1999. We just stood and watched the fountains at the Bellagio for hours. It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas was a favourite plus I recall All Night Long by Lionel Richie was played a lot.
The M&M store is awesome, but I got roped into buying an $18 bag of M&M's and realized I could have just gone to Walgreens. Same weight bag was just $4.99. You just have to be smart when you're at those stores. Hershey store is the same.....more expensive than the corner store for sure. Great YT channel Ruby!! Keep it up!

When I started going to Vegas in 2000 there were tons of live bands at every casino. Even the old Sahara had throwback "Lounge" rooms and the R&B acts really were legit. I remember going to NYNY and seeing a Doors tribute act, then later that night the same guy was Rod Stewart. There was also an AMAZING Prince experience at the old Monte Carlo. You can still catch a good cover band at a lot of places (I think), Mandalay Bay had one last time I was there. But it is nowhere like it used to be. Still, I think you can find guys on piano at the fancier places and a live DJ is cool, too. Lots of talented people in Las Vegas but Nashville is my #1 spot for live music now.

Container Park was interesting. Also we went on a mini bus called the Loop and it took us around the art district and too a shopping area. The driver was a tour guide and pointed out all the interesting places. Not sure if they still do that but it was free.
Thanks a lot! How nice of you for sharing your video. I appreciate your precious time greatly! Looking forward for more videos to come ahead. Can you give lists of decent restaurants to go to, reasonable in price. Also, clubs with live bands to go to for dancing. Thank you.
Thank you for your information you present in your videos.... We are going to Vegas in JAN24'. This is our first trip there and we wanted to experience before we PCS to the Philippines... Your tips are greatly appreciated. We are staying at Ceasars Palace. Being retired military and current DoD Federal employee, it will be a treat for us. Which store are you in, at the beginning of the video? ( 0:21 ) it appears to have things I would like ☺️
Thank you so much for this video. I am going to Vegas this month and this time other than the spa I don't want to spend a lot of money on other things. Walking around and going to see these events are great things to do. I just wrote them down. Thanks again
Container Park was interesting. Also we went on a mini bus called the Loop and it took us around the art district and too a shopping area. The driver was a tour guide and pointed out all the interesting places. Not sure if they still do that but it was free.
Oh they still do.
@@Pizzapartayy1416 is it still free?
@@IAmHisBeloved5 it is still a free shuttle service!
Thank you for the video it was like a mini trip
Thanks a lot! How nice of you for sharing your video. I appreciate your precious time greatly! Looking forward for more videos to come ahead. Can you give lists of decent restaurants to go to, reasonable in price. Also, clubs with live bands to go to for dancing. Thank you.
Thanks Ruby! Love your vids!!!
Awesome video.. Thanks for the tips👍
We've heard so much about the place, but was very hesitant going as we are both not very much known as gamblers.... and basically, the place is very intimidating. But we love dining... and your videos have made us very excited to vacation prior to our retirement.... Thank you Ruby....
