►2 large eggs
►1 cup (210 grams) granulated sugar
►1 cup (8 oz) sour cream
►1/2 cup light olive oil or vegetable oil
►1 tsp vanilla extract
►1/4 tsp salt
►2 cups (260 grams) all-purpose flour (*measured correctly)
►2 tsp baking powder

Sour cream isn't readily available in my locality and even when it's available it's priced over the moon, so I usually make my own sour cream especially for cheesecake but I didn't have enough in stock for this recipe, so I used around 60g sour cream and the rest I used Greek yogurt (incase you don't have that... then, you can just hang plain set yogurt in a muslin cloth and let the whey come out for an hour or two) and it came out soft. The tanginess of the strawberries and the dusting of sugar complements quite well!

Thank you! I received lots of strawberries from the food bank and needed to make something out of them, and this recipe looked great - I substituted strawberry yogurt (also from the FB) for the sour cream, and made a "cheesecake topping" out of 2 T cream cheese, 2 tsp sour cream, 1 tsp lemon juice, a few drops of vanilla, and 1 cup of powdered sugar, then I put a few fresh strawberries on top for decoration. :)

Hey everyone! Some substitutes for sour cream is buttermilk (in this recipe: 1/2+1/4 cup of milk + 1 teaspoon of white vinegar), greek yogurt is another substitute and even normal curd will work.

hi, i couldnt help tasting 2 pieces, the latter with a bit of the sauce and it was truly delish, tender, moist and with a fine crumb!! i've made 3 similar cakes from 3 different chefs and theyre all quite nice but your sauce is a geat additional to a lovely cake!

The results amazing the taste, fluffy, soft. I will be knocking on my neighbors doors this afternoon giving pieces out. I tied this recipe today and wow it was delicious!! I only added half of the sugar because my whole family can't really eat sweet things and they loved it !!! I didn't have the sour cream but substituted with yoghurt and added some lemon zest and juice. Oh and also, I let the halved strawberries for the top merinade in a tablespoon of sugar for bout 10 min and it didn't come out spongey and tasted great.
Simply said it was delicious!! Just waiting for the rest of my family to come home to eat the remaining half of the cake :)))

The lemon or lime juice is needed to brighten the taste of the strawberry sauce. You only need about 1 tbsp for every 2 cups of strawberry sauce. You'll taste the difference immediately.
@@gospeldva try about 1 tsp to 1 cup of strawberries, and 1/2 c of sugar. It doesn't matter if it's limes or lemons. It's the acidity that brightens the taste of the strawberries. The ratio is 1 tbsp per 2 cups of SAUCE.

I made this cake yesterday as I had some macerated strawberries sitting in the fridge. The cake turned out amazing but I baked it at 350 F for 50 mins and it was perfectly done. Thank you Natasha.
