Hi Aqib. We created this video with one of our custom built Live Schematic simulations. We've got over 190 simulations like it, and you can interact with them on our website. Here's a direct link to our session on Directional Control Valves, so you can see all the resources we have on that topic: www.lunchboxsessions.com/explore/hydraulics/flow-directional-control-valves
I like how clear and slow you explain this material to the viewers. It definitely an effective way to enable us in order to understand the video clearly. Good Work.
When trouble shooting electric over hydraulic, always pull the coil off the valve stem and verify its clean in between coil and valve stem, and that stem is not slightly bent. Both can be a real showstopper, and turn up in equipment regularly.
Thanks, haha. One of our programmers made that music. We've stopped using it in our newer videos, because we bought a better microphone and don't need the background music to "hide" how awful our sound quality used to be.
Oh super. Glad you got it figured out. If you had some dirt or grit in the valve, and you can figure out how it is getting into the system, then you could prevent it from happening again. Typical points of entry include filling procedure (dirty pail and funnel), low quality tank breather (it's worth it to get a high quality one with a desiccant for moisture control as well) and scored/scratched cylinder rods among others. - Carl On www.fluidpowerworld.com we did a two part webinar last fall that you can still download and watch re: contamination. www.fluidpowerworld.com/webinar-dealing-contamination-sources-hydraulics-part-1/ www.fluidpowerworld.com/webinar-dealing-contamination-sources-hydraulics-part-2/
What would it indicate if you pushed both manual overrides and they both stayed pushed in? I have that problem on a autocrane crane. Will not scope in or out. Thanks. Your video is very clear to understand. I never knew how they worked but I get it now. Thanks again
Can these solenoid valves be actuated in such a way to feather the hydraulic flow by using a rheostat or are they only able to be operated fully open or fully closed?
Thank you, very interactive explanation, i've a recently changed 2 solenoid valves, because even if not energized, it keeps holding the pressure, and find it to hot, testing the ohm of the coil find it as the datasheet..any thoughts about ?
when spool is in null postion, should we get oil in A and B, we have tested on Directional valve, we inserted 150 barg on P and we are gettingoil drop on Port A and B, is this normal in Null Postion without any command to Solonoide valve
hellow, please tell me if you know.I have a kafee maschine and during make a capucinno explosed e high pressure hose( this one who get in the solenoid valve ) i changed the hose and for a short time came pressure 3 sec and after this exploded again my ask is what can be broken ? solenoid valve or i have problems with hight pressure boiler? the watter ist warm...THanks Răspunde
I’m having trouble where the valve will work in one direction not not the other and even pressing the manual pin still will not make it work in the other direction
Hello, I have a jeep 2004 with hydraulic fan motor, with solenoide Valve to control speed. Seems the solenoid is not working. Can it be serviced, there are no replacements available. Or how do I try it, to discard a malfunction SOS please
WHEN I OPENED A SOLENOID VALVE, I HAVE OBSERVED THAT THERE ARE SMALL GROOVES ON THE PISTON PART OF SPOOL. WHAT IS THE USE OF THOSE GROOVES? WHAT IS THE TYPE OF FIT USED IN SOLENOID VALVE BORE ID AND SPOOL OD?
We make them from scratch. Our animators draw the graphics in a vector drawing program (like Adobe Flash or Adobe Illustrator), and then write the the software code (JavaScript) that powers the simulation. The simulations run right in your web browser.
I have a problem with a genie s40. Won’t steer because pressure won’t bleed off the opposite side of cylinder pressure is applied to. It has a similar type of valve, only solenoids are stacked rather than opposing. No one can figure out my problem. Steering valve and solenoids are new.
We don't use any program - we make the simulations all by ourselves. You can read more about them here on our company site: www.cdiginc.com/live-schematics
I'm glad you like them! Our team of artists/animators/programmers draw the graphics in a vector drawing program (like Adobe Flash or Adobe Illustrator), and then write the the code (JavaScript) that drives the simulation. The simulations run right in a web browser, like any web page. Thanks for pointing out the broken link - I've edited the comment and fixed the link.
In a hydraulic directional solenoid valve symbol, if there is a colored triangle symbol next to solenoid symbol then such valves are called as Hydraulic Pilot operated solenoid valves. But my doubt is how does a solenoid valve operate on Pilot pressure, it operates only when we give electrical signal to the solenoids. Kindly help me to understand this.
Hi Peter. Thanks for registering. LunchBox Sessions will be open to the public soon. We'll email you when the time comes. Until then, enjoy the UA-cam videos, and let us know what topics you'd like to see covered.
My skid steer has one solenoid not working I switched the wiring and the wiring and the swapped sides on the solenoids (they are interchangeable) problem is definitely in solenoid do they ever stick and just need tapped to start working ot seems to be a sealed unit the replacement is $305
The solenoid itself is only a coil of wire - no moving parts. It can be checked with an ohm meter. If you mean that the entire solenoid valve is sticking, and only works when you tap on it, then there may be some contaminants that are causing the valve to jam. A new valve may solve the problem but only temporarily if the contaminants are still present inside the system/fluid.
Raven4122 I've done hydraulic work on heavy equipment and the dusty conditions were the root cause. Change hydraulic filters often! The systems are very sensitive to dirt. It's not something that can you can see. The oil may look clean and still be contaminated. Jim.
Thanks for the advice jim I will take your advice and yes The new solenoid fixed my issue I will be doing a short video since I have found none.. Thanks again..
Hi, Can a faulty Pressure Control Valve, of a diesel car's fuel injection pump, cause hard starts in the mornings ? You see, I've checked almost everything else (battery, starter, glow plugs, EGR, MAF, etc., etc.) and all working well. The hard starts only happens in the morning, I dont get hard starts throughout the day, not in between trips, not even between short trips. Hope you can help. Thanks in advance !
how its operated in one solenoid with two functions?means one directional valve have four function like outrigger beam cy,extend and retract, and other outrigger jack cyl.extend and retract.pls described
yusuf sayyed it sounds to me like you are describing a circuit that also has a sequence valve (no additional solenoids). Either that or it is simply a matter of two cylinders in parallel and the one that is easiest to move (lower pressure) goes first.
There is a problum in my amt car when I put in D position car runs in 1gear 2 gear 3gear slips while accelatter suddenly check light comes on deshbord car will become slow car will not run then have to switch of car after one minute start the car check light not there put in D mode car will run an again same problem can somebody solve this problem
True enough Shaine, a solenoid which causes motion (moves an armature,..a steel slug as it were) contains a coil in order to create the magnetic field. So the coil is only that, a coil of wire. A solenoid on the other hand can push a spool/poppet (inside a pneumatic or hyd valve) , unlatch a doorway, or close electrical contacts (inside a relay). But yes sometimes folks use a term which they learned that does not fully properly describe a device. Thanks for commenting.
I have no idea What any of this means. The only Valve I recognize is the one that's peddles shovelware & hateful assetflips. Why was this in my recommendeds? I'm not complaining, just curious.
How did you create this video and it possble to make it interactive?

I was beginning to wonder if anyone in the hydraulic world can just be straight forward... Faith restored!! 👍 Thanks
I like how clear and slow you explain this material to the viewers. It definitely an effective way to enable us in order to understand the video clearly. Good Work.
Very informative video. Now I realize what mistake I was doing while trying to open a valve. I was bypassing it by keeping the solenoid energized !!
Glad it helped
When trouble shooting electric over hydraulic, always pull the coil off the valve stem and verify its clean in between coil and valve stem, and that stem is not slightly bent. Both can be a real showstopper, and turn up in equipment regularly.
the best material for training, simple as possible.. nothing couldnt be better
its wrong
Epic fucking music in the background. I felt like an epic space battle was about to happen during this great educational video!
Thanks, haha. One of our programmers made that music. We've stopped using it in our newer videos, because we bought a better microphone and don't need the background music to "hide" how awful our sound quality used to be.
That's what it was. Cleaned and it's working perfect. Thanks alot
Oh super. Glad you got it figured out. If you had some dirt or grit in the valve, and you can figure out how it is getting into the system, then you could prevent it from happening again. Great video 👍 Thanks for posting
Great video! Very straight-forward and easy to understand.
Great explanation , thanks for making this helpful vedio. 😊😊😊👍👍👍
Just needed a quick refreshment and you delivered it perfectly. Thanks for posting!

Little tip, If the override valve does not work, make sure the main nut is tight
What other issues would cause a valve not to be able to be manually override?
@@gregpartain4307 they get rusty and seize up
never too old to learn!! so, the de-energised valve returns until spring force?
Thanks for posting this. I wii be very useful for training the apprentices of my trade at the plant that I work at.
We’re glad that you found the video helpful.
Good video but please drop the background music!
very simple thank for explanations
You guys are best in making simulation, can you post a video on yuken's MRP 01 reducing moduler valve.
Hindi speech
What would it indicate if you pushed both manual overrides and they both stayed pushed in? I have that problem on a autocrane crane. Will not scope in or out. Thanks. Your video is very clear to understand. I never knew how they worked but I get it now. Thanks again
Can you tell us what model of valve you have? It sounds as though your main valve spool is stuck (contaminants).
Wonderful .......Its very Nice video i would like to see more videos from you like that .. Thanks N keep sharing ..
excellent material & explanation.Thanks
Sumant
excellent animated video!
thank u ,will u plz keep a video on difference between the solenoidal and directional valve exactly and different types of valves and their workings
Heyy boss if it's possible you upload video how vaccum generated valve working. Thanks

Superb video 👌
Very good well explained
good presentation .
hello sir the hydraulic videos are too good thank you. How good is to use snubber in the hydraulic system?
Hi, your videos are very good, but do you have any video with proportional valves?
Thanks Marcelo. Stay tuned, we will make videos on proportional valves at some point.
its wrong information

how come my co 2 valve doesnt have a pin hole to poke ?
Not all directional valve include a mechanical override feature. It is an option for some models.
Thanks a lot
