I have a large, double level deck. It's 20 years old. I have painted it three times with Cabot Solid stain paint. Still looks like new and haven't had to replace any wood. Great protection product.
Good to see things side-by-side.
I have a small porch with 3 steps. We’re renting right now so I had my landlord pick out the stain and sealer for me to do. Wood was very weathered but it turned out good because I flipped each board over revealing the better half and I’m doing like 3-4 coats for a very nice look.
Glad to hear it!
Can you please tell me which video the image at 2:21 comes from? That looks like the trashed decks I see most often. I would like to see how you treat a surface like that. Thanks.
I pressure wash, fill in and sand everything first before painting. Keeps it looking new. With the price of lumber today, spending $300 in materials and paint is a bargain.
Wish I could buy some Oil based Olympic Solid Color Stain…as I had better luck with it than Cabot Stain. Anyone agree?
Hi, just did my deck with you Cabot solid. However, I'd like to have glossy tone to it. what clear coat do you recommed on top of a solid. I did the Brickstone and looks beautiful amd looks like it will last.
What did you decide to put on your finish for a glossy look?
We want to do the same for a bar we are building.
@@cherigarton1639 up till today i kept the original finish right off the can. For a deck is good enough. For your countertop project, there's some great epoxy countertop videos here in YT.
camilo Pichardo hows your deck now looking a year later?
I have a solid wood door, bottom half is very sun damaged down to splintering wood but top half has stain and a clear coat. What prep do I need to do before using your solid color acrylic stain and sealer?
Great question! Please visit www.cabotstain.com/en/how-to/prepare for more details about how to prep the wood before you begin. We hope this helps!

Use a semitransparent oil based product on horizontal surfaces, that way when it fades all you need to do is clean and recoat.
What do you recommend for a fence semi solid or solid?
Hi Jaime, thanks for reaching out. Depending on the final look you're desiring for your fence, we recommend you take a look at our product descriptions to understand the differences between the solid finish and semi solid finish: bit.ly/3E5gwak
New deck railing one coat of semi-transparent stain. I want it a little darker. Can I apply a second coat?
Hi Jr, we do not recommend a second coat of this product. We recommend one coat only.
Have your dealer give it a darker tint for future reference.
Can I use this product on my fence?
Hi Richard,
Yes! Our Project Helper can assist you with picking the best product for your project: bit.ly/3esh9A0
