1 day before my exam for english language and im watching this story, its so good and soothing to hear i fell asleep on my desk and started dreaming about it Thank you
Good luck for tomorrow guys - adored the story. It's great to cram all my revision into the last few hours of the night before (just like every other exam)
Technically, it's more efficient to cram right before the exam since you wouldn't forget what you revise, unlike if you study before hand. Your brain is fresh for the exam and can actively retrieve what you have covered quickly.
are you allowed to use other peoples stories in the exam? i have mine next year and i thought it would be classified as plagiarism to use it or write many of the phrases she used
Thank you! We did a mock exam of this paper and after i'd watched this video i got 27/40! I believe this is pretty good for my first time. Although sadly i had to skip Q4 in favour of Q5 meaning i missed out of 20 marks which affected my grade. I got a 4, and i believe if i manage my time better netx time i could reach a 6/7
Here are some tips for anyone else that I don’t think were included in the video: -vary your paragraph sizes so your reader doesn’t lose interest easily - also vary sentence types and sizes for the same reason -try and avoid dialogue completely as it normally won’t work and drags on throughout the narrative -keep ambitious vocabulary very consistent and completely disregard words like cold -try and end the story as a cliffhanger; don’t completely wrap up the narrative or it’ll be rushed and might not make sense also gave the bonus of punctuation type of ellipses -limit yourself to 1-2 characters to avoid complexity -try and keep it in an hour span of time to also avoid complexity OR you can talk about: Para1 before before event Para2 before event Para3 event Para4 after event Para5 after after event Hope this helps some people ❤
@@osatomwenmuisaac894 I personally find it very cliché which is a red flag that I examiners look for. I have just finished year 11 and received 9's in both so you take your pick on what to use. Use your own intuition of what a good answer looks like.
@@osatomwenmuisaac894 No, this is a grade 5-6 answer I'd say. You need to be using complex vocabulary, metaphors, and language devices. However, I would recommend doing the description question as it uses less time (you don't have to plan a plot) and you can go more in depth in techniques. Good luck if you've still got your GCSEs!
@lukie9936 I would say definitely since there are so many things in the picture you can go in depth describing. It also doesn't really require much of a structure like a story would so you can save time there. You can still get high marks though, I got a 9 for my literature and I did the descriptive question. Hope this helped!
love your videos! i really want to know if this AQA spec kinda method can be applied to edexcel spec. im mainly asking because 99% of vids on yt are for aqa so it would be so helpful to know that i can apply the same methods for my own exam board and still get a 9! :) :)

I have been away from education for a long time, plus English is not my first language, would I be able to do this 😢 I just started GCSE last week, exam board with Aqa it's so scary Please what book would you recommend to enhance my vocabulary?
noooooo if the examiners pick it up for plagiarism then they might disqualify you so you can’t get your grade and there’s also a change big chance that this won’t be the question that they ask in the exam
You can try, but honestly, it's not worth it as, I'm 99% sure they are not going to ask this question. However, I recommend you to just memorise the structure, followed by lots of sophisticated words that you can use for your story -- Include vocabulary for the main themes: Thriller, horror, adventure/discovery and the rescue life task. If you know the structure and lots of strange descriptive words, you will be fine.
you’ll do well. revise before bed and skim through notes on the way to school. if all goes wrong, there’s no harm in resitting. you have so many chances to re do it in the future. ignore what everyone says, it’s not shameful at all. you’ll do fine
I really don't want to be rude but this story is not 40/40... It sounds like something I would write in year 6. Too many adjectives and they are not very sophisticated, also childish onomatopoeias in a GCSE 'grade 9' answer are a no for sure. Like I said, I don't want to hate because your channel was helpful when I was doing literature but please just consider this as constructive criticism.

100% and if time keeping is an issue - complete the exam backwards (start with Q5, then Q4, Q3, Q2& Q1) 😊
an hour and a half till my exam and this really helped me understand abit better since language has never been a strength of mine.❤

"Also, if grass is a carpet, that's a metaphor" you have no idea how much that cracked me up. Brilliant.

-vary your paragraph sizes so your reader doesn’t lose interest easily
- also vary sentence types and sizes for the same reason
-try and avoid dialogue completely as it normally won’t work and drags on throughout the narrative
-keep ambitious vocabulary very consistent and completely disregard words like cold
-try and end the story as a cliffhanger; don’t completely wrap up the narrative or it’ll be rushed and might not make sense also gave the bonus of punctuation type of ellipses
-limit yourself to 1-2 characters to avoid complexity
-try and keep it in an hour span of time to also avoid complexity OR you can talk about:
Para1 before before event
Para2 before event
Para3 event
Para4 after event
Para5 after after event
Hope this helps some people ❤
