@@matolati As far as I know, yeah they were. I remember hearing that when they were originally making Hybrid Theory, they obviously needed to find a producer for their first album. The first producer they worked with cut them an amazing deal, but it was under the stipulation that the band cuts Mike Shinoda because they didn't believe Linkin Park's Rap-Rock mixture with two front men was going to work. Chester basically told the guy to eat shit since he wouldn't abandon Mike under any circumstance. They decided to take the leap of faith and look for another producer, which for a brand new band this decision could've been damning, but of course we all know how Hybrid Theory turned out. Linkin Park truly created a masterpiece, there are plenty of legendary rock bands with smash hit albums out there like Queen, AC/DC, and Led Zeppelin, but Hybrid Theory is unique in that not just a few songs, but EVERY SINGLE SONG on that album is an unforgettable hit. Even 23 years later I can recite every lyric to every song on that album, and I know I'm not alone in this. I think It'd be safe to say that a group of band members capable of dropping an Album like Hybrid Theory, followed closely by the almost equally as legendary Meteora, had to have been nothing short of best friends.

The tendency to think in all or nothing ways, to see things as all good or all bad is one of the cognitive distortions associated with depression. The solution is trying to see the shades of gray, but that's easier said than done. I've struggled with depression my whole life, and I've worked as a therapist for 20 years, so I know how hard it is to achieve that. But it's worth trying. It's worth fighting that fight. And the gift Chester gave us was helping us all to feel a little more heard and a little more seen, and in identifying so strongly with that we help each other to feel a little more heard, and a little more seen, and a little bit less alone. Never stop fighting. And never stop caring about each other. That's what drove Chester, and remembering that and spreading that message is the best way that we can honor him. ♥️
