I’m a 73 year old woman who has been a Ryan Gosling fan for years. The biggest reason is he doesn’t take himself too seriously and he is genuinely funny. Aside from his great dramatic and action actor chops, he’s truly musically talented. It’s not a fluke. I knew he would knock it out of the park at the Oscars, because he really is an old pro, having been performing since he was a young kid. Now! If you know anything about “The Scarlet Pimpernel”, you’d know that if the right director did a remake, with Ryan in the lead, it would be a blockbuster! Please like this comment, so we can hopefully make this happen. Ryan could win his own, very well deserved Oscar!
The movie is good, very funny, but I am a girl, the intended audience. Ryan was hilarious. At the very least you should watch the I am just Ken scene from the movie. It was epic.
There are great songs throughout the movie. This one, Billie Eilish’s song which won the Oscar, Dua Lipa, and The Inigo Girls are just a few artists on the soundtrack.
This is the only song in the movie. Ken realizes he is his own person and kind of blossoms during this song. There's a really funny fight scene with the character Alan. (“He's Ken's buddy, All of Ken's clothes fit him!”) There is a cameo by a very famous person, they wanted to be in the movie and would take any role. (They're a merperson.) ALSO, Sylvester Stallone wanted to be in it but was filming elsewhere. Director Greta Gerwig was extremely detailed. All of the scenery is spot on. Ryan Gosling slides off the hood of a car, but Ken's legs don't bend, so it was awkward. 😆 During a scene with some Barbies, if you look closely, you'll notice Alan in the background standing still, looking at a wall. No one is "playing" with him, so he's just there. It's funny and smart.
There are small subtle actions in this performance throughout, that a person wouldn't get unless they've seen the movie, soooo, it'd be great to see you do the movie reaction. 👍 Maybe you've stated it previously, but I don't know why you don't want to see it, & to just watch RG's parts would have things taken out of context, & there's enough misunderstanding about the movie already out there by ppl who watched it with a defensive attitude & weren't actually paying attention, or perhaps didn't watch the whole way through.
i am completely infatuated with the song and the amazing performance ever since Oscar night. i watch it every day :-). so bummed it did not win. so sick of brittle voice girl performances!
Now we just need Matt Damon, Florence Pugh, Timothee Chalamet, Anne Hathaway, and Gal Gadot to appear in a Barbie sequel, with Emma Stone as Barbie’s best friend Midge who’s in love with Ryan’s Ken, and Cillian Murphy as Human Ken in the real-world, who’s Sasha’s (Ariana Greenblatt) teacher, and the love interest of Margot’s human stereotypical Barbie (Barbara Handler) in a Barbie sequel whenever Greta and Margot are planning on doing it right after when Greta gets done filming Chronicle of Narnia on Netflix. I DO hope that the original actors like America Ferrera, Ariana Greenblatt, Will Ferrell, Kingsley Ben-Adir (who also played Raggae singer Bob Marley in Bob Marley: One Love) Scott Evans, Alexandra Shipp, Michael Cera, Dua Lipa, and John Cena (Mermaid Ken) appear in the sequel too. Also, I think they should bring back Mark Ronson to compose and write more songs for the sequel (probably make it a musical this time) and probably for a Ken movie and Allan spin-off. We definitely need a musical broadway. Let’s start a petition!
