  • Another one that's been kicking around for a while, waiting to find its final form. Using the old Gibson ES 125 into a simplified board. Keeley Germanium Amplifier, Keeley Germanium Super Phat Mod, Big Ear Z-Delay. Splitting dual mono into 65 Princeton RI and Tweed 5F1 "Champ" kit build.
Germanium fever in the air these days in the guitar circles... figured I'd throw a few things onto a board just to play along.

Thanks! 1955 ES 125. All original except the knobs. Obviously missing the pickguard. My dad bought it off someone at work back in the 80s when I was a kid and it was always the guitar around the house growing up. Eventually my dad passed it to me and it's been fun having an old friend around. Solid build and I love the sound. They're still a relatively affordable way to get into a vintage archtop.

One question: what is a germanium? I think you mean "geranium."

@@pz29 it’s just a little pun. Germanium is an element that was commonly used to make transistors for electronics decades ago and can be used to make diodes as well. Silicon (not to be confused with silicone) is more stable and sort of the modern alternative. In the world of guitar pedals though, germanium is often attributed borderline magical properties for how components made with it sound.
