Thanks Elwyn ...we were watching the planes at Lakenheath last Friday and saw these all take off and return ...we were in Wales the previous week and missed every F 15 and F 35 that flew through the loop ...oh well that's the way it goes... keep up the great work..thanks once again for keeping us entertained 😊
@@ElwynR totally agree, my son and I were in cad West car park and was absolutely fantastic to watch them all come through and the sound reverberating off the mountain sides was biblical.
Went up there on wed afternoon , saw 2 f15s with the vapour trails, literally blown my mind, truly incredible pieces of kit. Amazing footage brilliant 👍 thanks , i need more ! Again!
✨🏆✨Outstanding session! Amazing light, great perspectives, perfect dew point for the killer vapor + those wicked eerie disappearing-reappearing lingering wingtip vortices' trails. Absolutely top shelf.
Really If you've seen 1 F-15 You've seen enough. Don't get me wrong, I love Airplanes, But 9:04 of exactly the same thing pass after pass. Oh well some are easily intertained, W/ boring Video. But then no one Begged me to watch.
Those Young Men In Their F-15s Came All The Way From RAF Lakenheath & "Our Elwyn" Got The Great Footage There In Wales...Thanks Heaps Elwyn Glad The Young Men & Their Aircraft Safely Made It...They Were Doing "Air Attack Sorties" Looked Like They Were Doing Great & Hope They Learned A LOT From Each Other :) :) :) :)
“Where Eagles Dare”…..and ElwynR. A magnificent gathering of Eagles, you totally nailed it at 3:27 gorgeous photo. My only fear is you won’t be able to top this posting…..(I’m sure you will)Thank you so much for posting this….just going to watch it again 👍
For the 1st time ever in over 20 years I was there for the mass Eagle flyby, it was absolutely fantastic. Not sure why though I couldn't get them on my uniden bear at 3500xlt on any of my Lakenheath or low level saved frequencies, I normally get them, so I'm not sure if they are using different frequencies now than what I have saved. Superb video as always Elwyn.
Epic Elwyn, it was awesome from where I was on Cad, and you had an extra 10 passes from Spur. Long process for me now trying to work and edit my video.
Gentlemen there is nothing in this world I love more when Camping in Wales, than the Sky Roaring with the Sounds of Freedom and Democracy. So relaxing and brings a tear to the eye. 😂
Beautiful as always. Wonder if you've ever been so lens focused while standing on not quite an even surface if you've ever experienced a tumble down the side?😉 Also, because the aircraft are so close to the "ground," if any feathered friends have struck them during passes?
I have fallen a couple of times! not whilst taking a photo though but when walking😊 and yes the Jets can and do suffer bird strikes but I have never witnessed one.
The way they pull the water out of the air is awesome! You should try pointing a speed radar at them, I wonder if it would set any warnings off onboard. 😎👍
Loved every bit of it and what a lovely day too, thanks so much for your efforts as always Elwyn. Has anyone opened a mobile cafe up there haha, soups and sandwiches maybe ('The Mach Soup Cafe'), I'm determined to do it:) All the best to you x
I am visiting the UK from New Zealand in 6 weeks and have a spare day when my wife wants to go shopping🙂. I'm thinking about heading out to the Mach Loop for the day (from Birmingham). Any tips about visiting would be appreciated. Specifically: Will my 500mm lens be too long? Which is best, Cad East or West, to get shots of the aircraft with terrain (rather than sky) in the background? How long does it take to walk up the hill (I'm 63 and moderately fit)? What's the weather typically in early October (thinking probably cold and windy, possibly wet)? I'm fully prepared for the eventuality that I may see nothing all day. Appreciate any advice - I only have one shot at this. . . won't be coming back.
I think CAD West is only about a 15 minutes walk to a decent height. I think CAD East is longer as people usually go higher that side and it's steeper. Also depends where you start from, as that's from the car park which is often full, though you can just about park down the road to the west. Weather? It's Wales so could be sunny/20c+ or 10c and raining, or both or somewhere in between... I'm from Birmingham, even if you see nothing in the rain, a drive through Wales will be better than staying in Birmingham! 😅Good luck!
