      Could also be interesting to make a two story dome system: a second smaller some inset on top of the first dome.

      Depends on the materials you're using. Basically, think like a rain drop. If you use polycarbonate, just use double sided glazing tape and trim the poly 1/8" inboard of the frames. When they go together, fill that 1/4" space with a high quality sealant like sikaflex. Also put clear silicone between the frames as you assemble. You can also use UV stable flashing tape as an extra layer of protection. I choose siga wigluv black. Just make sure whatever it is is high quality.

      Amazingly well. I like to put a clamp latch on the windows so you can secure them if you know for sure some insane weather is on its way.

      So the bottoms are PT and they are sitting on compacted gravel. Then they are anchored into the ground with earth anchors

      @trilliumdomes  Рік тому

      @Trillium Domes Thanks for the reply. I was hoping for a bit better solution.
      Unfortunately, with my experience, outdoor silicon jobs (even the best quality) are never lasting, I presume especially with polycarbonate as it would expand and contract allot? How are your structures standing against time?

    • @trilliumdomes
      @trilliumdomes  Рік тому

      It depends on a lot, what materials you use, the purpose of the dome, what foundation type. This one was 7k in materials and cost for all twinwall polycarbonate and aluminum shakes, the door, plywood on the pony walls etc. So you could certainly build it for much cheaper.

Wood and concrete foundations for instance are anchored the same way a traditional structure would
