Don't normally comment on videos but I just wanted to say thank you. I was so intimidated when building this model. It was destined to remain grey forever. However I followed your guide and I am now the proud owner of 1 painted throne! Keep up the good work I love they style and pace of your tuition and cant wait for the cloak vid!
Haven’t painted a model since the old hexagon pot days, I’m shocked how effective these contrast paints are! The glow effects you manage are simply amazing.
@@ThePaintingCoach Just found it out:) 1.Prime in black 2.Cover entire model in incubi darkness 3. Wash with coelia greenshade And now here is the trick: Dry brush! 4.Dry brush the upper 2/3rds thoroughly with kabalite green with a large brush and the cracks on the lower part lightly with a small brush 5. Dry brush the upper 1/3 part with sybarite green (fanning out from the orb) with a large brush (and cracks lightly with a small brush) 6. Lightly dry brush the entire model with gauss blaster green. 7. Dry brush the "circle" around the orb lightly with moot green 8. Canoptek alloy for the border of the Blackstone 9. Corax white on the orbs and the lightning 10. Tesseract glow on the corax white parts
Fantastic video!! I would love to see you paint Ahriman, from the Thousand Sons, he's a gorgeous model and would lend himself well to your style. All the best.

Is it just me, or does the Iron Warriors color look a lot brighter in this video than it does IRL? (or is it the lighting maybe?) Apart from that, obviously another awesome tutorial by The Painting Coach!
This is a question for the painting coach as well as other experienced painters. What do you folks use to stick the sub assembled parts to corks and model holders when painting sub assembled parts?
Great question! It depends really on what the contwct point is like - so for example if it's a big area like a whole base, I'll use blu tac. For smaller areas like feet etc i'll drill a pin into foot (usually the heel) and use that to spike into the cork Hope that helps!
excellent tutorial - do you find that its trouble to leave the black parts painted only in chaos black if you have to go back with abbadon black for mistakes does that not leave you a weird shade difference?
Thanks for the comment - i think I mentioned at the start but I do always put a very thin layer of abaddon black over any chaos black for the reason you noted!
Probably not - you can either just paint it white with a few coats of corax white, or spray it using some cardboard to shield other parts of the throne - hope that helps!
I’m getting my own Szarekh soon, this will be incredibly helpful.
Glad it will help!
@@ThePaintingCoach Saved this video and the Szarekh painting tutorial as well. I’ll enjoy painting him for sure.
Bob/CTan looks marvelous. Especially when he is attached to that remarkable throne. Great job. I can’t wait to see you tackle the silent king.
Thanks John - appreciate it! Won't be long haha!
I love the outcome of the Throne , i wasn't convident with the Blackstone but now it's alright , i can't wait for the King itself , great vid !
Thank you - I appreciate it!
Fantastic as always! I have learned more from you than in the last 5 months combined. Amazing teacher, easy techniques and cool models.
Thank you so much - that really does mean a lot!

First time viewer, this looked amazing! Can't wait to watch more of what you paint!

brilliant painting and guidance thinking of getting into warhammer models beacuse i used to paint and make airfix
Awesome glad you found it useful! I will warn you it's a slippery slope haha! I used to paint Airfix when I was a kid too!
I did both back in the early 90s sold or gave away the lot in 97, now I'm considering this as my midlife crisis! 🤣
I couldn't possibly encourage you but i will haha
Can’t wait to have a crack at this one myself. Hope your having a great week!

I have a question, in the very beginning you mentioned iron breaker and iron warriors which one are you using?
Probably Iron Warriors thinking about it 👍🏻
At some point, can you do light coloured robes? I did my blade guard veterens with green after many attempts and lost hair of the "GW style"
Cheers - yeah I guess I will get to round to it at some point as soon as I find a relevant model!
are you gonna make a tutorial on the Primaris Invader ATV and the other new space marine one?
Probably not - I've got a load of Space Marine vids and the techniques for these are essentially the same - I may do the techmarine when it is out

2 minutes in and subscribed! ✌️
Awesome thank you so much! I really appreciate it!
Where do you get your broken toad brushes ? Would love to give them a try maybe kick something back if you have a link.
Cheers - I appreciate that - I don't hage an affiliate link for these - i ordered them from the BT website
Look at the size of that thing!
It's decent!
Oooof. We might share a brain, coach. We certainly dont share painting skills, but...maybe the brain. This is brilliant! Cheers as always
Thanks Rob - appreciate it! I hope I can help with the painting!
Are you gonna do the void dragon as well?
Yes - week after next 👍🏻
@@ThePaintingCoach nice can’t wait! You helped me improve a lot with painting, thank you!
That's awesome to hear :)
And I don't see thunderhawk blue on the paint shelf, is it gw?
Yes it is 👍🏻
@@ThePaintingCoach I wasn't able to find it but I think I can mix a couple others to get a similar color
It's a mid tone between Dark Reaper and Fenrisian Grey if that helps
Went to another store today, they had a spot for it but we're sold out
So ive already glued the ctan onto the throne. Do i need to remove it from the throne to paint it?
Probably not - you can either just paint it white with a few coats of corax white, or spray it using some cardboard to shield other parts of the throne - hope that helps!

Really enjoyed the vid was the base slightly warped by an chance
Thanks! It was although totally my fault - i was trying to dry it faster with a hair dryer and warped it slightly!

When are you going to get an airbrush??????????????????
Haha I have an airbrush! I need to make sure that all my tutorials are accesible to everyone so I go this way :)
@@ThePaintingCoach Time for the Painting Coach to do some miniature airbrushing tutorials. Seriously, there are almost no good ones on UA-cam.
I see loads, but I'll see what I can do!
Unfortunately I don't like it at all. has only limited something to do with GW's. what a shame 😞
How do you mean? The model or the tutorial?
