- Misskittyvideo/Kitty Terry has remastered both audio and video from original tapes to gift you all this INCREDIBLE performance from the original Eric Clapton band (Erics best boogie band to date!) playing LIVE on the Old Grey Whistle Test in '77. Why I give credit to George Terry for playing background guitar is just me being nice as he deserved so much credit for being the rock behind Eric at the time. Eric was the genius.Sergio on percussion has passed away and along with Karl Radle and Dick Simms, but not before being memorialized in these videos, spending his time on earth wisely. "Tell The Truth" was originally written by Clapton and Whitlock around the George Harrison "All Things Must Pass" sessions (and a version was even recorded!), but wasn't released on a record, and was kept in the can. Eric re-recorded it as a much slower version on "Layla and Assorted Love Songs" with Duane Allman as Derek and the Dominoes.....however, Clapton's American band -, Carl Radle, Jaimie Oldaker, Dick Simms, Yvonne Elliman, Marcy Levy and guest starring Sergio Pastora to boogie this one RIGHT! .
Clapton held the groove, and Yvonne and Marcy are unparalleled on vocals! This is IT! The energy just emanates off the screen as you watch these great musicians groove with one of the worlds most influential guitarists. I can feel it now, Who"s been foolin' who? Open your eyes and take a look at your heart, Wow. I can see it yeah!
I watched out in the audience... this was one of my favorite songs the band was playing, not only in music but in message!!! I hope you will enjoy this as much as I have....

Who has forgotten? I would surmise more have forgotten about Yvonne Elliman and Marcy Levy.
Not all songs. "I Am Yours" and "Layla" aren't co-wirtten with Bobby.@@Bluharzo

Yes, too many of this calaboration have gone to form Heaven's Band. Most recently Jamie Oldaker on drums left Tulsa. RIP to all of them.

i saw Clapton (for what I believe was the 461 Tour) on July 4th 1974 (Columbus OH and it was indoors at the basketball arena on Ohio State campus me with 1st row seats) and I remember they played Mainline Florida so I saw George didnt I?... also im pretty sure Eric was wearing his Eric Kleptomaniac tshirt)

Crossroads 07 in Chicago, Clapton laid the crowd to waste with this! Doyle and Derek were totally in a groove, basically pushing Eric to pull out all the stops! As he should ❤
It doesn't happen very othen that a group of musicians are as together as this band. Vocals could not be any tighter. Perfect a perfect song.

I saw EC with this band in Houston in the 70s.Really great show.
I was 11 in 1977. I always liked Eric Clapton even before I knew who Eric Clapton was. Now that I am old and have wisdom, I like him even more.

I had the great pleasure of seeing this lineup in 1978 and still smile when I hear it.
I was lucky being in Tulsa for these times. I played in bands with Dick Sims and Jamie Oldaker. A long time ago. I’m not sure about George Terry and Yvonne but Marcie is still with us

Thanks a million for this! The Domino's were my favorite band of all time. Close enough. To see Carl playing was thrilling for me. Eric is in great form and "Blackie" sounds great. I saw these guys live in 1976 and they killed it. Thanks!

Thank you Patrick...George was the glue but once he left Eric fired everyone and put a band together that no drinking...drugs...smoking all disappeared...we didn't do those things so we kept to ourselves..I love Eric...he was good to me...I just didn't realize the rest of the band was hiding drug use...fooled me..they always played great every night and Eric never hit a bad not...How did he do that??? 1 of the dumbest things Eric ever did was let Bobby Whitlock walk out of his musical life & his personal life. What a shame. Tell the truth about that Eric. At least he did right by B.W. somewhat in the end.

I was fortunate enough to see this Band playing live in Vancouver BC in 1978, I was 17 back then. Amazing concert, Clapton and Terry along with the Band were mágical! Thanks for posting!!!

George terry is one heck of a guitarist and in my opion never received the atention and accolades he deserved. He was a HUGE influence on EC upon EC's return to recordign in what led ot the 461 Ocean Blvd album recorded in North Miami Beach in May 1974. It was George terry who turned EC onto Bob Marley...Great playing by this verion of the EC band, with terrific vocals by Ivon Elliman, MArcy Levy and EC
Yes he was great once but has mental health issues now..so sad but will always love him..he has become mean...not aware of what he is doing..we appreciate the kind words

Somewhere inside there must be soem level of disappointment or resentment via the lack ofup front credit he should have recieved for his work with EC starting with the 461 Ocean Blvd era. I used to see him play around Miami Beach back befor thta and as a young student guitarist, I was always knocked out by his playing. His influence on EC during thta fragile time for EC coming out of his heroin/recluse era can not be underestimated. His playing pushed EC, no question in my mind about that in a way only Duane Allman and Derek Trucks have in EC's career playing along sied a 2nd guitarist.

Just a side comment "backround guitar" ? my ass, he's techically 2nd guitar which is not taking away from the fact that he's a grade A player, holding hos own and more with EC. I saw this group on a couple of different shows. EC should get more credit for putting the talent together and writing the music. I want to say this was after the 461 Ocean Blvd album. An underrated effort that got bad reviews. Even though I haven't gotten over the breakup of Cream or Derek and the Dominoes, I remain a staunch fan of Eric Clapton. The critics have been given way too much airplay. Not all guitar players end up playing metal.

Makes you wonder how much George Terry played on EC's albums; like the great slide on "Next Time You See Her," for example...

Thanks so much Kitty,George is a brilliant guitar player,i saw him in 1975 in Sydney With Eric's band.I especially liked his playing in the Freddie King sessions too ,that slide was awesome.I think he was Eric's best guitar player for the band, & yes Eric is a genius,& this band really grooved.
