@Sith Master Jar Jar Binks maybe but me personally to the people who will just agree with him no matter what says more about them than him. That they need people to tell them what to think because they are incapable of thinking for themselves or forming their own opinions.
For starters, I think we have to give credit where it's due. While the SW line has had a lot of issues with their set designs and choices, this set does demonstrate specific things that the community has been asking for: 1.) phase 2 Commander Cody, 2.) a lot of clones in a clone-related set, 3.) continued printing on the hip piece (although why the gunner doesn't get that is beyond me), 4.) for a troop carrying vehicle to actually have the space to carry troops. These are specific things that make me appreciate that there is some progress. I do agree with all the things you mentioned that could have been added. Honestly, for an extra $10 I would've liked 2 crab droids, get rid of the spider droid and battle droids, 2 super battle droids, and a 212th airborne (if they wanted to faithfully recreate those movie scenes). But again, to me this set demonstrates more of how Lego is beginning to listen more to the community rather than it demonstrating how they don't.
I think it's because the p1 plain clone minifig pack has those same legs and also I'm hoping wee see a phase 2 regular clone set in 2023 so that explains the reuse of legs and why it doesn't have a hip print
More over, the airborne trooper used in grievous starfighter would fit great here, and that figure actually has hip printing! Crazy why they didn't just chuck him in here but hey Lego is Lego after all

I really think the holes in the helmets just add more customization options. Some clones wore flashlights and antenna things so I think they are ok. But I agree a crab droid would have been nice to see
Except it doesn’t add more customization options. The new holes are way too high up for antennas to look good on the helmet. So we’ve now essentially got holes that are useless for anything other than a visor, and that make the helmets look worse when they’re empty. It would not have been hard for LEGO to put the holes in the right place and just make a new visor mold.

@@TheGW923 have you put an antenna in the new helmets? I understand it looks like it may be too high up, but it may be in the same spot as phase 1 or mando helmets. I suggest making this call once we actually see an antenna in the new helmets before making a judgement.
@@benoberle9312 No it’s actually pretty objective. If you look at an actual clone helmet, antennas are supposed to attach lower down. LEGO put the hole in the wrong spot.
@@cyberdragon5247 I have not personally put an antenna in, but the hole is really high up on the helmet. It is definitely not anywhere close to the right spot. I have an image that makes this very clear, but can’t link it here.
The point where antennas are supposed to attach on Phase 2 helmets is the circle thing LEGO already had on the previous mold. Instead of replacing that circle with the hole, they put the hole above the circle without removing it.

I only really have one major counterpoint and that's the helmet holes.
I think the Phase 2 helmet in general should have holes in the same way that the Mandalorian helmet does. It'd be ideal to have every clone from now on have the 'new' helmet with the holes, and they can phase out the older one (which is probably what they're doing). The thing is with the 187th Troopers and Hunter is that they are already in production. You could use the argument of 'but this clone doesn't have holes' into infinity until you reach a point where there's no clones for sale. I think we should celebrate them implementing the change going forward instead of criticizing the change for not happening sooner (although it definitely should've, that's a criticism for 2013 LEGO not 2022 LEGO).
In a perfect world, LEGO changes the mold for every clone on the market to just abruptly cut out the (hopefully now considered) old phase 2 helmet. I guess that's just too much effort for them for the few groups/people who'd notice and care. I don't think this is the biggest sin they've made here.
The biggest problem is that the hole should've been done better. The fact the helmet has the smaller round shape directly under the hole looks ridiculous and as though they just took the helmets and drilled another hole in vaguely the right place. The new hole would be fine on it's own, but they should've shifted the old spot up a bit so that the hole looks like a part of the actual helmet (like with the mandalorian ones) or just flattened that area altogether
I would be very ok with every clone having holes if they weren’t in the eyesore position they’re in now.

@@MandRproductions It's sad that we don't get clones as much as we used to...but honestly...unless LEGO was going to favor demand over current relevance in trends in the non-LEGO community...then we can't reasonably expect them to do this to the extent it was before. 2008-2014 was the Clone Wars era when the Clone Wars was airing, so it was a trend among the general population and SW fans so they could justify making tons of sets and that's why it got saturated with Clone sets. But with the Sequels and these new Disney+ shows... it's just not justified anymore. It's a bygone era that we have to somewhat cope with. The same applies to the 1999-2005 waves, Star Wars was born in the prequel era of pop culture and now we're moving away from that. Now that's not justification for LEGO to eradicate Clones, because the demand is clearly there. It's not like they don't make half the sets OT sets and they just ignore the other major trilogy people care about. Which is clearly wrong. Part of this is that we had significantly fewer Star Wars sets released for these last few years than we were used to. TL;DR the Clone Wars era is a bygone era in Star Wars, and the LEGO community must adapt although definitely still demand these clones.

And also lego is all about creativity so the holes on the helmets can help kids create their own clones and stories. I mean the phase 1 clone troopers all had holes on their helmets I didnt hear anyone complain about it.

This is a complete coincidence but *technically* the Clone Wars hadn’t ended when Cody and the gang were on Utapau because General Grievous hadn’t been killed or the planet hadn’t been freed so on a technicality the box art isn’t inaccurate but 100% by coincidence
My take... If obi wan was in the set it would have the Skywalker saga box art. They put clones in a set and no other main figure so they put clone wars box art because it's the most fitting box art just going off of the figs

We should definitely strive for better in SW sets, but I kinda disagree on the helmet hole one. I get that it wasn't integrated very well, but I'd rather take the visual hit if it means being able to customize more clones. What if someone does want to add an antenna or visor to the 212th troopers, or gunner? A shame they didn't adjust the mold to make it look better, but I still think every P2 Clone should be given the new helmet going forwards
i grew up with holes in the clone trooper helmets so it doesn’t really bother me that much, i just wish it lined up with the circle
It probably would’ve been better if they had moved the first “hole” up on the helmet instead of leaving it and then adding a second one. they could’ve tried to like print on the visor or something so it’s good that they did this so you can customize clones. If you really hate them clone army customs sells just helmets

While I understand the customization part that's also the problem. Most of the time lego doesn't include such customizations such as antennas and visors
Genuinely completely disagree - starting to feel like we’re in “impossible to please” territory. The droid complaint is silly, the palpatine hologram was expected by nobody, the helmets are an actual response to criticism from Lego - I mean this is a fantastic, 10/10 as it is. Let’s give them their flowers for once

Counter points to your arguments:
1. Why is the other clones having helmet holes such a bad thing? It allows for customization because not every clone looks identical that makes no sense to use the holes fir just one helmet. You don't complain about open holes on Mandalorian minifigures.
2. The palpatine hologram isn't completely necessary considering Obi Wan isn't even in this set, there is no one to execute order 66 on.
Sure, it isn't "necessary" but it would be a nice "head-nod" to the prequel films. It makes way more sense to include the hologram here than it did in Vader's Castle, or even the First Order SD.

There are no accessories in this set to customize these clones. In sets like the mandalorian battle pack, accessories were included. Thats why he doesn't dislike the holes in the madalorian helmets, but does dislike the holes in these clone helmets.

Ok but, the phase two Cody looks good,the helmet holes are actually pretty accurate to Cody. And I still think the holes in the helmets aren't the worst things Lego have produced
I personally don't find an issue with all clones having the holes in the helmet, as every phase 1 clone does, and this gives us uniformity.
The problem isn't the holes, it's the placement. They are why higher on the figure then they should be.

Very good points. I still love the walker though. We can never have too many at te sets. I'm hoping LEGO will finally give the CIS as much love as they do with the republic. Would be nice to see some CIS ships and the larger droids like the octuptarra droid.

I think LEGO is going to release at least 1 CIS set in next year’s jan wave to provide opposition to either the AT TE or republic fighter tank.
I think it will most likely be a homing spider droid or a hail fire droid.

For the first time since April, I finally got the Republic Fighter Tank. It wasn’t possible to find until now for me. Not bad but I’m hyped even more for this set now.

I'm content at this point. Although everything you mentioned (besides the helmet holes, i like em but that's just me) would make the set slightly better, but none of them are really a game changer. According to my current standards for Lego, this is the best possible outcome i was expecting for this set.

And that’s why it’s a 8.5-9/10 set and not 10/10 to me. None of this is make or break and I never say it is. Current LEGO standards (low) allow stuff like this to happen.
my main complaint with Lego star wars is that other themes like Harry Potter get new molds seemingly left and right whereas its rare for Lego star wars to get new molds that are almost necessary. Also the pricing. Some sets we're getting a just straight up rip-offs, like the general grievous starfighter.
also, and I can't stress this enough, WAIST CAPES!! There are so many characters in the last few years that really needed them. Like the snow troopers, and some of the bad batch squad. The printed on ones look so bad

Still the best looking walker. I love how they did the joints. I have no complaints with this set to be honest. The only thing to me is the crab droid should be included, but again, I don't care that much because this is for the AT-TE and Clones, which they did and for that I'm shocked.

2. Disagree - I don’t think they needed to do that. For the expensive price I can see a case, but since there is nothing like an obiwan and that lizard thing, I’d disagree
3. Disagree - this is where I am more certain in my disagreement. The only case I can see for them doing no holes is on an 18+ set, geared towards adults who want to display with no holes in the helmet. This set is not 18+, this is geared at non-adult audiences who will more than likely want to prioritize customization and play with the holes in a helmet, versus worrying about the holes so small to where you have to put them within a foot of your eyes to see clearly, detracting from the accuracy of the helmet
4. Agree - price of the set should warrant either a swap for, or addition of, a SBD or two
5. Agree - not as much of an expert on box art, but reasoning is great and I agree
I fee like Lego should of added the palpatine hologram because an average fan would care more about that than the box art the are goinging to throw away being accurate. I also assume the might already have super battle droids in plan for the future because Lego plans the sets in advance.

I think the reason for Lego not including a hologram piece is because it’s not trying to depict the Order 66 scene, but it’s trying to create an Utapau battle set or something like that.
But had they included Kenobi and a Varactyl, and a large climbable stone wall, then this would have been the perfect opportunity for that.
And even then, if you have any of the sets that come with that exact piece, which I’m sure you do, you could easily take that piece from that set, and attach it to Cody.
That would have been cool instead of the spider droid if they made it like 10 bucks more
I completely understand where you’re coming from. For me, the equivalent of this is the Marvel CMF. It was great, and something I’ve wanted forever, and yet some of the decisions made were so bad, even though they could’ve been easily changed

The DC CMF just had a bad selection(It obviously should’ve come with Zatanna and Doctor Fate) and the Marvel CMF was so inaccurate and cheap with the details(two of the characters had no leg printing, and two others reused their face prints from sets)

It’s more complex than that but yea, P2 clones either needed holes or P2 Cody needed a specific mould for the visor. The problem isn’t that they added holes full stop. It’s that they are actively producing 2 helmet versions but not using them properly. The holes are in a bad spot of the helmet that I think looks bad when not in use. Hence Cody good, 212th bad with holes.
I do think the holes on all helmets is a good idea. It returns the customization element to Lego Star Wars clones. Now, if they do not include any antennas, visors, or binoculars (its about time we got a binocs helmet attachment) in the set, I think that would be a problem.
This is why I love mega construct, they listen to there community and buyers. They try to do what the buyers want and like. And make things we like to.

it's not always lego's fault, it's Disney that we should since lego needs their approval for figures and designs. Also, I would add two airborne troopers as well to this set.
I agree with most of his opinions but I think the helmet holes aren’t that bad especially because of customs I think it’s a huge upside! But if you hate them just put a visor on 😂

5:34 They made a custom Leia hologram for the Obi-Wan's hut set, and that was a $30 set. I think they should have been able to afford to put one in. Plus, they could have just used the Palpatine hologram mold from the Star Destroyer

I agree with all of this stuff, but I'll be the first to admit that it's not a big deal in the grand scheme of things. I think they moved the holes to make the visor pieces line up better with the face plate printing on the helmets, but I agree it looks ugly when not in use. The Palpatine hologram piece would have been great, but, as I already have one, I don't really care that much. The lack of crab droid bothers me a lot because this is just Lego being too lazy to design a new crab droid model and instead just tweaking older spider droid models. I also don't even think the spider droid model is very good anyway because the ball socket design for the head doesn't look right at all. I wish they'd make a version of the 4/4 dome piece with a stud on top, so the could use that and still have the antenna on top of the head. Still much more good than bad and I'm just really happy to see a big prequel set because it feels like ages since we had a big non UCS one.
Something that I am wondering is why did they change the droid blasters to Gun Metal shiny color? Black would have been just fine as in years previous. The odd thing too is that they have been keeping it somewhat consistent as well through the newer sets, with droids usually carrying these shiny blasters now.
Droids have had gunmetal blasters for a few years now lol, more accurate and more variety in blasters, cant complain.
100% agree. Lego clearly can do these things. I mean for a set this big Lego could’ve left probably just a few spare parts to make a crab droid it’s that simple but no Lego seriously just has to leave it’s community with inaccurate B- sets instead of making that last bit of effort and seriously those helmet holes are ridiculous, but clearly this is all we can expect out of Lego nowadays.
I get why Ryan sees problems in the AT-TE, but I think the title of this video should be changed cause' the set doesn't suck entirely.

I know they should've had the old helmet mold without holes but the mandolorian has holes in his helmet and you never complain about the look for him( or any other mandolorians that don't have accessories in their helmet)
The problem aren't the holes because they are there, the holes are just sticking out to much out of the helmet which is not the case with the mandalorians!
Also ALL of the phase 1 clones have holes in their helmets, that wasn't a big deal

I’m really sad that it’s never gonna be on sale due to giant lego fans buying them out and not leaving any for kids who want to play, as I’m not a huge collector and want the set to play and display. Unfortunate how the lego community won’t give smaller people a chance because of their “army building”
I know what you mean, it should be 1 maybe 2 per person at least for the release, I’m gonna be staying up at midnight to try my best to snag ONE for myself, I’m just hoping I can get one before the scalpers buy like 5 at once to sell on for more money on eBay, I’m not greedy I just want one of these things for myself for my small clone army, I had a hard time getting A fighter tank and that little clone command station because scalpers snagged the lot of them
Same, and I live in Australia so everything is more expensive and the collectors have a better chance of getting the set, and that do not supply enough to cater for the demand for clone sets. And this AT-TE will be $230, where as in America it is $140 and the conversion is about $200.
@@CT-7567- Yh I do think buying multiple of them before people can get one for themselves and making those people miss out on a set they really wanted is wrong, we as a Lego community should be helping each other out considering how wanted this set is and once everyone has got one, then it’s ok to buy multiple

I think as an addition that the Cody minifig could be a little better, maybe a new visor piece and a jet pack that could even be a neck bracket piece and a 1x1 with one side round printed piece
The continued exclusion of the B2 Super Battle Droids is unfortunate but not a fault of this set in particular. The version they used up until the mid 2010's was notoriously prone to breaking. Hopefully they get around to making a new and improved version for future sets.
I agree on many of these points , but I think what we have now is a solid set with some desirable aspects to it. I personally hope we see Cody in a cheaper set due to the fact I'm on a budget this year and probably will be going forwards.
Imo I still think it’s a great set despite some of the dumb things. I will never care about box art ( I know you said it’s not super important ) but I’ve have never cared about the box because I like the sets more obviously. I do think you’re right about the crab droid though, it is a simple thing they could’ve added in the set but didn’t, but if they did do it they could have made it 5 to 10 dollars more for legos sake lol. I think overall it is a 10/10 set for me, but I also think you make very good point’s.
I agree with all of this, I can already tell that the holes in the helmets is going to trigger me. I also think that they should have included ONE airborne trooper because those were iconic parts of the scenes too.
Does anyone know if this is compatible with the original lego republic dropship like the first few lego AT-TE were? No one seems to be talking about that feature, it would be great if this one can be picked up and transported by the dropship like the original lego AT-TE.

I feel like in regards to the hologram of palpatine, that if anyone has any extras and decides to buy the set that it would be an easy fix, and then that's that.
I honestly prefer having having the clone wars box art, since when I think of an AT-TE, Commander Cody, the 212th, etc., I think the the clone wars first rather than episode three, plus I think it just looks better and compliments the set better.

I agree with everything you said. But we still have to be cautious not to criticise too much because Lego gets constructive feedback and hatred mixed up in the reaction to a set. Lego has to realise that these improvements are for the best.
But They might get cold feel and not do another set like this and fall to the dark side once again of designing a Lego set.
I will admit I wanted more from the set but I love it just for being a at-te and have fun with it I absolutely adore this. Set for my own values also just wanted to say thank you for reading and I hope you have a nice day
The Box Art discrepancy: First World Problem

Alternatively, instead of using the Spider Droid or Crab Droid, Lego could've made another smaller Octuptarra (Combat) Tri-Droid, as there were several of them in the Battle of Utapau in Revenge of the Sith (and having a not ugly version of the Octuptarra Tri-Droid in Lego would be great), and as it's one of the more iconic Separatist droid types in Star Wars, it'd be cool to have more representation for it in Lego.
However, I kinda disagree (mostly) with the helmet hole take. I agree that their placement is ugly (they'd look much better on the weird ear bits of the helm instead of that weird back groove), but for play features they're great, especially if they have an accessory pack/spare Cody visor. One thing kids and most CT fans love is customization. Speaking of the visor though, I hate that they're still using the -ugly- old visor mold from the TCW sets from like 2010.
I feel like it's high time they redesign it to make it more accurate with clone visors in canon (less bulky and square). Even Phase 1 visors canonically are much smaller and more curved than this old Lego accessory. Also, a helmet-mounted macrobinocular accessory would be nice for clones(especially because they went through the effort to model them in the Skywalker Saga game).
Also the boxart colors are frustrating lmao, I feel you there.
For the Palpatine hologram, there’s a piece in the 2020 Obi Wans hut that could be used for Palpatine. Yes it’s not the absolute best mold as I think the Leia buns are on the piece, but it could still be used for Cody

I can’t lie, I don’t have any sets made from before 2020. The oldest one that I own was the senate trooper battle pack and it was also the first one I got. But because of this, I never got any previous ATTE’s and this looks like one of the best sets that I’ve ever seen. I’m super excited to get it. I used to say, “ima buy 4 of ‘em” but now I’ll probably just get two of them. This is just because I like to buy even numbers of sets.
I actually think this set is amazing NOT PERFECT but certain things like the spider droid I completely agree especially with lego’s company motto but certain things like the holes in the helmets I don’t have a problem with but I agree they could have just used the mold without holes. I agree that the palpatine hologram should have been there but it isn’t a deal breaker but it’s still sad that it isn’t in the set
MandR, I think we all see your points for every missed aspect of this set. The only problem is, Lego will never go this far to make it perfect. When us fans ask for an AT-TE, they listened and we got it. The stopping point for Lego is having an AT-TE, not having a good one, they don’t care, people will still buy this set, a lot. It doesn’t affect Lego whatsoever if it’s not a perfect set, so for those reasons it will never be perfect.

As far as the box art goes, the same thing could be said for the background being Utapau, that it should be Yerbana or Zygeria matching with the Clone Wars styling. However, to your point, it's a lot harder to push that arguement since the designers said it was based off of ROTS.
My biggest issue is they didn’t make a new mold for the jetpack, but instead printed it. They were willing to make new molds for Cad Bane, and the Inquisitors (which are very nice) but the most wanted minifigure by fans in so long, they didn’t add the jetpack to be detachable.
They’ve been printing jet packs for a while on clones. It allows them to fit in seats, we all expected that, way different from more crucial molds on these other figures
@@FGxBeaver Which other clones have they? I don’t remember. All I know is they did it for the 501st troopers, and if you want to sit you can always remove it.

@@Ginkrepeerc_ try the inquisitors without the mold. Significantly worse, and far from accurate, code looks mostly the same with or without the jet pack. It isn’t crucial to the look of his whole character unlike the inquisitors, it’s an accessory and it’s till printed. Not to mention if you take it off the inquisitors they are straight downgrades from previous models.
I’d argue the backpacks were more significant in the bad batch figures and those were all printed, much more of a letdown than Cody but they were still printed. Although I’d argue it was still ok, I think they’ve established they will print backpacks on clones.
I really only have two minor complaints to add on: the shooters on the cannon should be able to rotate up and down with the cannon or just in general, for better play. The last 2 did it. Second complaint is the ammo for the shooter should be trans blue instead of green

7:11 Well, for Phase 2 Cody the positioning of the visor on his helmet is accurate to the shows, comics, and movies since it didn’t actually go onto the circles of the sides of the helmet; instead resting just above it.
That’s gonna be the case with any Phase 2 clone using that visor piece (especially for LEGO since where those circles are placed on the helmet, if you have the holes on the helmet there and you place a visor on it like that, it’s gonna end up covering up the printed visor on the helmet).
Now, when it comes to the antennas for the Phase 2 Clones, those were attached to the circles on the helmets. So yeah, I can see why holes on the circles should be required there in that case. But since this is LEGO, so long as they can use attachments on the helmets, they’re not gonna feel the need to change the positioning of the holes.
So if the holes are able to use antennas, which they probably will, won’t it look weird with an antenna

I am just satisfied with what i am seeing, and coming back to LEGO late last year was good timing, getting an AT-TE with Cody and the gang for 120-110 Euros, can't wait.

Been thinking this ever since it was revealed. I’ve got the old 2013 one, and it’s virtually identical. Those that don’t have the 2013 one will enjoy it, but pretty lazy from the Lego group imo

@@bomb1243 almost the entire fanbase because the holes allow you to put accesories on the helmet like rangefinders or visors
For some reason they didn't do that when the phase 2 helmet came out (phase 1 helmets wich where realesed earlier than the phase 2 ones have holes) so a lot of people wanted that feature on the phase 2 helmets too
