There is nothing wrong with Streisand's politics. She's anti war, pro environment, pro civil rights. You just don't like her because she's been a vocal critic of Trump and Bush.
@@sansone12 She can believe any thing she wants. It just not a good look for your popularity when you piss 50% of the population off. I really don’t care what she believes, all I was saying is it would have been better off to stay silent.

When I was a senior in high school, our all school musical was Funny Girl. I was in the choir and also had a bit part in the production. As a result, I knew all the songs from memory and became a huge Barbra Streisand fan. I listened to all her songs for many years. I am now in my early seventies. I was introduced to Lucy Thomas just a couple of months ago. I now have all 4 of her albums and have listened to every video on her UA-cam channel. There is no doubt in my mind which version of Evergreen is the best and it isn't Barbra's. I have never heard a better female vocalist than Lucy Thomas. To me, Lucy's voice sounds sweeter, clearer, cleaner, more controlled and more pitch perfect than anyone else. If it is in her vocal range, Lucy can sing it better than anyone. That does not mean that Barbra is not one of the best female vocalists of all time, Lucy is just better. That's my story and I am sticking to it!
You're certainly entitled to your opinion. Music, like all art is subjective though. You hear Lucy better, I hear and feel Barbra better. Add to that that men and women hear differently, especially highs and lows, and you basically have a debate that'll go on forever. Again, I don't have an issue with anyone feeling Lucy, or anyone for that matter, is better than Barbra. That wasn't my point. But for my taste, I'm completely rapt when Barbra sings; no one interprets a lyric or nuances a song like she imo. Lucy, et al, don't do it for me. For instance, there are many who feel Karen Carpenter had one of the greatest voices; she bored me to tears. But like I said, music is subjective.
@@donnamentrasti2695 You are correct that music is subjective. There is no way that I could argue that what sounds best to your ear is incorrect for you. Musical taste can vary according to the individual. There are some singers that have excellent vocal technique but I don't like the sound of their voice. They're some singers that I like the sound of their voice even though they have poor vocal technique. The thing about Lucy is that I love the sound of her voice and I believe her to have excellent vocal technique. However, I do not begrudge you in your choice in musical performers.
Have to agree Lucy is miles better She has a perfect voice. best vibrato ever. perfect pitch ,perfect control of her voice .Barbara is vey nasal just don´t like the sound of her voice.
Hi Mike and Ginger. I have a suggestion for a fabulous cover band for you to react to... Foxes and Fossils. Research them first so you can understand the groups dynamics and the relation ship of the artist. So, my suggested first looksie is there cover of "Sweet Judy Blue Eyes". This is their first song sung as "Foxes and Fossils" and one of the member came up with the name while they were setting up there equipment for that nights performance. As Lucy and Martha make each song there own so to does Foxes and Fossils make each song their own. They do not and will not disappoint.
Yes, another fan of 'Foxes and Fossils', absolutely fantastic group! Tim with excellent vocals, along with Darwin, lead guitar, and both Sammie and Maggie on harmony with perfect vocals, just unbelievable talent with this band! Like df said, their very first performance was live: "Suite Judy Blue Eyes", from CSN & Y, and they blew them away! Their live version was BETTER than CSN & Y's studio version! Yes, they will NOT disappoint! Just like Lucy, with her flawless vocals and world-class vibrato, the vocals, harmonies, and guitar work is absolutely on point, just amazing with F & F!
Ok I’m half way through this. Now don’t get me wrong this Lucy girl can sing alright but this isn’t a patch on the original. Whilst it’s sung very beautifully the whole performance is lacking in vibrancy, in short it’s flat and a bit dull.
@@supertuscans9512 If you think that Lucy's "whole performance is lacking in vibrancy, in short it’s flat and a bit dull", then with all due respects, I would suggest that you have your ears checked. I totally reject your assessment and respectfully agree to disagree!
I am more than familiar with the Streisand original. I’m sorry to have to say that this cover lacks the raw earthiness of the original.- It’s a bit like a Des O’Conner cover of Frank Sinatra. Typically beautifully sung but ultimately hollow.
Lucy in her youth can almost match Barbra in the full glory of the apex of her career. Babs holds that last note a little longer but starts it a bit softer.
Lucy held that for 17 seconds. and ended in a perfect vibrato .Babs does not .Sorry but Lucy is way better Babs has a very nasal sounding voice lucy´s is pure and rich However each to their own.
You apparently never heard Barbra when she was in her late teens and early 20s, like Lucy is now. No one ever heard anything like her then or ever. And she didn't sing popular covers of other artists. She was an extraordinarily unique artist. Check out "Cry Me A River," "Lover Come Back To Me," or "Down With Love." Sorry, nobody but nobody sang like Streisand.
9:29 About Barbra Streisand - Barbra is considered the absolute best vocalist of all time. That’s hard to believe, without knowing more about her, but to understand why someone would say that is all about her vocal peers, many of which were good, a few were great. Barbra was where quality-wise so many were reaching for. Celine and Whitney were her peers. Charise, who Celine was helping gain popularity, was as good as Barbra. So is Lucy Thomas. Lucy is doing a class act job in her covers. She is for all intents and purposes, copying the styles of Barbra, Whitney and Celine, Charise was there. Charise was the teen who had the transgender surgery. He does not do her music, but has shown on occasion that he can. Can’t remember his name right now (I’m 73, so bear with me) Darcie Lynn is good. Sammy Davis Jr. doing “In the Shelter of Your Arms” was very good. Barry Manilow’s Ballads were great. His “Weekend in New England” was very good. Josh Groban is great. Look at all the singers David Foster has brought into his level of expertise. Want to talk more, say so and give me a phone number - Ted K
Well, not 'move over Streisand,' how about just "Join the club Lucy!" Barbra's version is still the best because it's the original and every 'cover' is more or less a compliment to Barbra's.
Mike, since you have headphones on, it would be real cool if you wore them with the cable on your left side. This way something recorded on the left channel would actually be heard on the left channel instead of reversed. Not a problem if the audio is mono but for stereo recordings, it's nice to hear it on the side that it was intended to be on.
- question Mike: If you're listening to a stereo recording and its just a piano on the left channel and a guitar on the right channel, when you plug your cord into either side, does the piano STAY on the left side and the guitar on the right no matter which input you use, or does it switch the channels around to the opposite?
You obviously know very little about Streisand's body of work, nor ever seen her perform live, or you wouldn't make such a ridiculous banner on your reaction's headline to "move over!" It takes a lot more than a beautiful voice to achieve the level of success and greatness that Streisand has, and tons of new artists have come down the pike the last 60 years and have failed to move Barbra from what many feel is the GOAT. She's the only recording artist in history to have an album debut at #1 in six consecutive decades, and only until last week when Taylor Swift took over the spot, she was the highest selling female artist only behind Elvis and The Beatles. And unlike Taylor, Barbra did it without UA-cam, Amazon orders, and MP3 downloads...when people actually had to get in their car or take a bus to a music store to buy her album. So have a little respect for some of the shoulders these new artists are standing on. And also, Barbra didn't make her claim to fame singing popular covers on YT of other artists' songs... at 18 she started out singing in small clubs as an opening act, and singing songs that were not considered mainstream. Nothing was handed to her on a silver platter. And for the record, Barbra's ticket prices averaged at around $350...what scalpers were able and allowed to do back in the day she had no control over, but people gladly paid it anyway, including myself who plunked down $2,500 of the greatest and most pleasurable money I ever spent... then proceeded to file for bankruptcy afterward, but I wasn't missing a once in a lifetime opportunity like that. When Barbra returned to live concerts, it was after a 27-year hiatus... then she would only do about a dozen shows every 6 years or so. Sorry to rant, but it just irks me when some are ready to canonize a new artist just because they have a beautiful voice. As I said, it takes so much more than that to reach the heart and soul of the listener over 60 years. If you're so inclined to, take a watch and a listen to a young Streisand singing "Cry Me A River" in front of 125,000 people at her "A Happening In Central Park" concert in 1968. There's a magic some of the greats had, like Sinatra, that you rarely see anymore...don't discard them so flippantly!
@user-nw3eq8rf8i Figured someone would miss the whole point. And frankly, I don't care what you think it sounds like... but you're wrong. The bankruptcy was going to happen whether I went or not! You only live once, and that was nearly 30 years ago. In the inimitable words of Edith Piaf, "non, je ne regrette rien."
Barbra Streisand is 81 years old. No one can ever take away her incredible list of accomplishments but her career isn’t going to last forever. We should be glad there are young artists emerging who can carry on where she leaves off.
@randysimon7363 I am very glad about that and have no problem with really good talent... there are lots of them out there today, but I'm just saying... don't dis the trailblazers either. Barbra may or may not have publicly sung her last song, but just a few years ago, she was still belting at a very high level and standing toe-to-toe and having no trouble keeping up with with 50-years-younger, also very talented, Ariana Grande, during a duet of "Enough Is Enough." Lucy should have a terrific career, but, fwiw, I do see her more as a Broadway star than pop artist.
@@donnamentrasti2695 As great as Barbra was, it is not impossible that someone may come along that is better. Recognizing that fact is not disrespecting Barbra. When Lucy's voice deteriorates with age, someone will come along that is better. I still believe that Lucy's voice now is slightly better than Barbra's voice was in her prime. And yes, I was a huge Barbra Streisand fan in my youth and I am very familiar with her body of work!
The only one sorry is You, in your false, uneducated, biased opinion....so whatever. My brother tried to say the same thing about Garth Brooks, and then he stared doing live concerts with just his guitar....and that shut him up as well! Wait, you'll see....
Do you really understand anything about Lucy at all?!! She is the co-producer of an ORIGINAL, not rehashed, musical that will premier late next year, "Rosie", which Lucy will be performing LIVE, of course! She had to perform LIVE, albeit at age 15, in front of the West End committee, some of her songs written JUST for her: "Suddenly", "Starlight", and "Gentle Breeze", and also her award-winning performance, "Broken Dreams", when she was 18! She and her musical had to be accepted to perform in this prestigious theater district; they simply don't take just ANYONE! You bash someone you know absolutely NOTHING about...........can't sing well without vocal enhancements, auto tune, and auto pitch; why don't you tell the selection committee that 'secret' information.......I'm sure, if they knew that, then "Rosie" may up getting rescinded.............ha, ha, ha, ha, hilarious! Dude, you should be a stand-up comic with that rubbish coming out of your pie hole!!
Lucy is amazing and has an outstanding voice and whilst a parallel is quality of vocal does not have the Streisand X factor The best duet ever was Streisand and Celine Dion

@kennethsorrels8850 Appreciate your understanding. As the saying goes...'that's why they make chocolate and vanilla.' 😉👌
Have to agree Lucy is miles better She has a perfect voice. best vibrato ever. perfect pitch ,perfect control of her voice .Barbara is vey nasal just don´t like the sound of her voice.
@@colinhea Me thinks it's more like you don't like the sound of her politics. So be it.
If you don’t get babs, have you ever watched her singing with Barry Gibb?
I’m sorry to have to say that this cover lacks the raw earthiness of the original.-
It’s a bit like a Des O’Conner cover of Frank Sinatra. Typically beautifully sung but ultimately hollow.
@@supertuscans9512 Again, I must respectfully disagree.
Which of course is your entitlement.
Not even close to Barbra at her top. Have you heard her sing it in French Italian or Spanish?
You apparently never heard Barbra when she was in her late teens and early 20s, like Lucy is now. No one ever heard anything like her then or ever. And she didn't sing popular covers of other artists. She was an extraordinarily unique artist. Check out "Cry Me A River," "Lover Come Back To Me," or "Down With Love." Sorry, nobody but nobody sang like Streisand.
It’s lovely but Barbara Streisand is the queen!
She's good but there is only one Streisand.
Thank God
Jake Zyrus is nor the name ofCharise uh
Well, not 'move over Streisand,' how about just "Join the club Lucy!" Barbra's version is still the best because it's the original and every 'cover' is more or less a compliment to Barbra's.
Fabulous, but Barbra is unreplaceable.
She has already been replaced by Lucy who is a way better vocalist.
Singers don’t have to be replaced. There is room for as many as we’d like.
@@colinhea In your dreams. 🤣🤣🤣
Our headphones have input plugs on both sides. They allow us to wear them properly, but have the cord on whatever side is convenient. - G
- question Mike: If you're listening to a stereo recording and its just a piano on the left channel and a guitar on the right channel, when you plug your cord into either side, does the piano STAY on the left side and the guitar on the right no matter which input you use, or does it switch the channels around to the opposite?
Very nice she is just as good as Barbara and Lea Michelle
Lucy is just as good as, (dare I say) Celine Dion.
Ummm. Crazy ticket prices aside-Barbara is a true original.
I don't usually notice this, but Ginger has nice hair in this.
I think Barbra is fine lol.
Sounds like you're trying to justify your irresponsibility.
And yes, I was a huge Barbra Streisand fan in my youth and I am very familiar with her body of work!
did u have react cakra khan audition in AGT 2023 guys ?
Lucy is great but she does not have the range nor the power that streisand once had. Streisand also had better tone and emotional delivery.
You act like she’s the only singer who can hold a note at the end or has a beautiful voice. 🙄
Lucy is lovely but doesn’t have the unique sound and look of Barbara
I take it, that was a joke right!!!!!?
You can say that again!!!!! Lucy hasn't got that irritating nazal tone that Barbra has.
Lucy is just a good cover singer who can’t sing well without vocal enhancements, autotune, and auto pitch in a studio! Sorry
The only one sorry is You, in your false, uneducated, biased opinion....so whatever. My brother tried to say the same thing about Garth Brooks, and then he stared doing live concerts with just his guitar....and that shut him up as well! Wait, you'll see....
Ja jaaa..you're a good joker !!!!
@ceegarcia3399
Nonsense. You have no idea what you are talking about.
Please get back under your rock. If you don´t know what you are talking about is best to say nothing.
Always here for a Lucy song. She does a great job. I’m sorry Ginger but I have to disagree with you, Barbra had a great voice too. However I will agree with you I would not pay that much for a ticket to see - anybody. ❤️🤘🎸🎻🦘
VERY NICE !!!!
