Hey! I have a great alternative that could be more eco friendly
Find a mesh net around the house maybe using the net that your onions come in, or at a thrift store and pick up a flat sided picture frame from a thrift store
Staple the mesh onto The Sides of the frame and make sure it’s tight
Hang earrings from net/ mesh holes!
(Thrift stores are sustainable as you aren’t buying new you are reusing old and also jsut fun like going on a treasure hunt each time)
