The only gripe I have with this reel is the weight, but that goes with the size of the reel ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxM68VkfsQhHaabDce1IwOCXuvumcpbZ_k . I brought this salmon fishing up in Oswego, NY. I coupled it with a Cabela's Whuppin Stick. I had no problem pulling in a 14lb salmon. I will probably use this for surf fishing this summer and downgrade to a 3500 series Battle II next salmon season to save my wrists. All of the operations are butter smooth and the bail is nice and thick and has a solid flip to it. Everything about this reel is sturdy and strong. The drag system held up to the salmon and was also super smooth. I did use a scale to set the drag properly before going out to the river and this worked out tremendously. A bunch of other guys on the river would hook up and snap almost immediately. Just because you have a good drag system doesn't do anything if you don't set it correctly.
Kudos to you for leaving in the "mistakes". I've had days where I can't catch anything but tree limbs, so it's nice to show others that we're all human!
Yeah and that one time I was fishing a bass fishing torney (I’m 12) and the boat was parallel to the bridge and it was great lots of rocks and cover I was using a deep diving crank bait this one cast was (VERY) bad and I threw up over the wall of the bridge and into oncoming traffic it would’ve been my first ever semi catch and IT WAS BIG but I reeled and got the crankbait out and over the bridgeand got the lure out into the water
I see all these comments talking about how you’re not gonna watch his channel or sub due to the title... y’all seem really pressed about it but imma keep watching cuz he’s just doing what he loves
@opaque the reason people do that is because of past or something that happened to them. and their not going to post them doing that. so shut up and just watch the damn video
Opaque Motives what does that have to do with anything? Like the other guy said, shut up and watch the video, and if you don’t like it, don’t watch them. Simple as that.
Man Nick quickly one of your best days of fishing you ever had. From my point of view your always slaying fish & having fun in every episode aha . Keep it up brother!
Anybody that knows about fishing knows that[sometimes] it more fun watching someone else that is very enthusiastic catch fish then catching them yourself. Some of you may be old enough to remember when a water moccasin fell into bill dances bass boat.It was every man for himself!!Lot of high pitched screamin going on,sounding like a bunch of girls. Now thats enthusiasm!love it!
You are the only one I’ve seen who gets as excited as I do about catching gar. I love fishing for them and love eating them, they really are poor mans lobster.
I now see why Ty PigPatrol uses soft plastics when he's shooting lures into tunnels for Crappie. Probably a little more durable than UL cranks. Awesome video 618! Keep up the good work!
Angling With Alex haha I wasn’t losing that fish! For real though that reel refuses to quit.. same reel I fished with underwater in saltwater years ago. Still works great!
I see you using my favorite brand of lures, Rapala. Try loosing the drag everytime you het a big fish most of te times they do a suprise strong run and cut you off
Sweet vid! Gotta love catching multiple species in new areas! It was an expensive day for you 😅 but it's easy to forget about it when you're catching fish! 🙌
One of the greatest video I've seen from you in some time and even though you you lost alot of lures I see you had fun and I had fun watching you. 👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍👍👍
To prevent your hard baits from breaking so easily; 1)first remove all hooks and hardware,2)cover the entire lure with fingernail clear polish harder, overnight to dry good; 3)dip the whole lure in polyurethane, let it dry overnight and your done. I guarantee it will make a lot of difference and less breakage. Good fishing Texas 7
Great video! Did anyone else catch the other fish jumping at 4m07s? As he was reeling in the Gar a small fish jumped from right to left on the screen! Great job on finding this new location!
I'm just wondering when he's going to catch something worth eating. Ive see gar and mudfish twice the size of those. We never throw them back because they're hurting the population of the other fish
Gar and bowfin are the two most abundant annoying large predatory fish in the river (Oggeechee River) where I fish here in S. Georgia. I don't think I've noticed the blue mouth bowfin. However during spawning season (February here) the tail and fins will take on a beautiful orange color on the males, especially the smaller males. Most of our gar here are the long nose type. Whatever tackle you are using is pretty much gone when you hook one of them. It's a fun fight when they don't cut the line with those teeth right away.
Nice! We catch a ton of gar here on the east coast but they are all on the Longnosed variety. Even the few I've caught in the Mississippi basin in northern Iowa/Wisconsin were all Longnose. Shortnose would have been epic! I forget that there are areas were Bowfin aren't all that common. We catch a flat ton of them and if you ever want to get sick of catching them you're welcome to come on down! :)
It's obvious you've become accustomed to using an ultralight setup, and darn good with it to boot! If that adds to the excitement on our, the viewers, end... I can only imagine how it is on your end. Thanks for sharing.
You got the same UL setup I got I think. I love fishing with ultralight! Just gave me some motivation to brake it out again as fish slowed down from the heat, finesse fishing may catch more than using a heavier gear. Gotta change the rig on it, which is still set up for trout since spring.
The content itself is really nice, but there is no way anything you caught approached the record. Why would you undermine your credibility and integrity for a title like that?
We had a tunnel just like this growing up it was a run off creek from a huge Huge tire plant and dumped in the Des Moines River so it was always always full of bait or full of real fish one tunnel was always closed so only one was rushing like yours . I caught thousands of fish in there ! 100s of thousands if you counted all the shad we seined and sold to the bait houses I remember it was 20.00 per 5 gallon bucket made tons of fishing money , Coleman fuel hooks sinkers bait ditty poles it was a phenomenal fishing area and a great swimming hole on those 100 degrees days and 65% humidity! I swear it saved my best buddy and me once we were in fish the gravel pit beside the creek and huge storm blew up hail the size of golf balls then we ran for tunnel and soon it was baseball sized and the wind was like a tornado but we survived thanks too that old tunnel !
Yea fishing can be expensive, my girl wanted me to show her how to work a frog lure today, so I tried to show her and tried to skip it underneath a hanging tree. Very first cast with that frog and it's gone lol. Awesome video man. Great quality.
Love your videos man. Great editing, camera work, and love the drone footage. I used to live in Granite City and me and my dad would hit a lot of little creeks and ponds. Good times!
Carp might be known for foraging for food but they can be pretty predatory at times, they'll definitely hit small lures and I've even had them on small live baits. They're extremely adaptable when it comes to finding food which is why they do such a good job of colonising any water they're introduced to and this is also why they're considered such a dangerous invasive species.
If you're going to sling lures into cement tunnels, try spinners. They work well in muddy running water and they can handle being slammed into concrete.
Grab your lure by the last hook and pull bending you pole and shoot your lure in like an arrow. You can get it in very thin places, much more accurately.

This is how many crankbaits this man lost

try try again

Super jealous of the bowfin. The males get those blue mouths and bellies when spawning. Great vid!
Keith Andringa very interesting! Thanks for the info!
The first fish looks more like a big redhorse
@@618Fishing bigmouth buffalo, Ictiobus cyprinellus to be specific
Small buffalo😂😂😂
Very small smallmouth buffalo. Pretty much the US version of the carp.
That was an expensive fishing trip. It hurt when you lost that Rapala lol 😂
Love ur vids dude
SuperKoker playz thank you :)
yes , sad moments in fishing
My guy when we going fishing
If you're trying to match the hatch the bowfin seem to be feeding on Blue Raspberry Jolly Ranchers.
Atomic Bean Hahahaha 😂
I caught a bow fin on a piece of razor grass one time at my local creek. They really do bite anything.
Never caught a bowfin? I’ve seen you catch a hundred now. How old is this? I hate bowfin, anyway. Those gar were awesome, though.
Kudos to you for leaving in the "mistakes". I've had days where I can't catch anything but tree limbs, so it's nice to show others that we're all human!

You forgot to include the "state record size" fish in the video.
It was click bait not going to watch anymore of his videos now
He has good content, just misleading titles.
You guys are stupid. State record SIZE!!! Not state record 😒😒😒
It was @ the end not his catch but the record picture.

Julius ortiz don’t even waste your time arguing with this idiot. He’s not worth it.
Anyone who's followed his channel and stumbled back to this video gets a treat as we all know he's caught so many huge bowfin in later vids. 😂
"I brought 4 setups, a bag of tackle, and a drone" but no net haha
Nets are for sissy's
@@beebob1279 Yeah, but when the UA-camr's catch phrase is "See ya later buddy" as a C&R fisherman a net is important

9:36 the gar came up to say "See you later Big Fella" LOL!!
That first fish looked like a smallmouth buffalo.
Bigmouth buffalo
Damn buddy. I think you might’ve broke that record! I can’t wait for the next video on the same exact place. Hope you break it! 💪🏼

618 Fishing If you haven’t noticed. I saw you on tv awhile back lol. They had a clip of you falling in the ice. 😂
I’ve been watching you for years and watched you catch ton of bowfin. What a treat to see you catch your first!
Breaking all those hard body lures...Would of switched to a soft plastic for certain
Man Nick quickly one of your best days of fishing you ever had. From my point of view your always slaying fish & having fun in every episode aha . Keep it up brother!
What was record breaking
Exactly. I think the short nose gar?
The number of ultra-lite crankbaits he busted trying to fish in heavy flowing, turbulent water for fish that have teeth.
Hate clickbait promoters. Bank geeks are always overly excited about catching trash fish. In the future leave the turtles alone.
Losing the most lures
He just named it this to get views very dissapointed
The markings on that first fish were lovely. And now you know where all the Gar live. Great vid.
4:06 watch the fish jump out of the water in the moving current
Anyone see it
I saw that too the one jumping from left of the screen to the right towards the tunnel?
You have the best production quality of any youtube fishing channels. Keep it up!
