Liu Xuan gave a powerful and yet elegant beam performance and at a age when most female gymnasts have retired or forced to retire, happy that her coaches have faith in her and Liu Xuan also persevered to give a most beautiful last beam performance of her gymnastics career
Probably my favorite moment of this competition. Liu Xuan was such an innovator and pioneer of gymnastics in a country that has had so many of them. We all thought ‘96 would be her time, along with Mo Huilan, and it just wasn’t to be. I absolutely did not see this gold coming but very few people deserved it more than she.
This and the performance of Sanne Wevers at Rio are- in my opinion- two of the most iconic moments in the sport. For Sanne, an improbable and historic win, for Liu, the culmination of a career.
What an amazing moment for this young lady. That was the most beautiful routine she has ever done, and this was her best competition ever. She truly earned her gold medal. Her all around performance was also excellent, coming in 4th!! Yes, I know she now possesses the bronze medal, but none of the medalists in the records actually acknowledges those results.
They may not recognize it, but history and a very important rule book say what the truth is. You cannot test positive for a banned substance and retain your medal. Unfortunate, but everyone understands how it works.
Great performance! Liu was one of the lucky gymnasts that did not have good luck at her first Olympics so she stuck around and became one of the stars of the 2000 Olympics.
When I see these kinds of performances, knowing the family and emotional contexts and team support and what the athletes' personal situations are, I'm just overwhelmed. Nationalities don't matter, winning doesn't matter. I'm just so happy for them.
I truly wish the Chinese coaches would let the talent mature. They have one way. They have all the basics. Dance , flexibility but they don’t let them develop power as they get older. Not many Chinese gymnasts get 2 Olympic cycles.
She deserved more medals if not gold ones. Like when she did her one arm giant.. I felt so bad for her and the Chinese. Judges never gave them the respect they deserved. I wish for a minute Bela was their coach so he could go and delegate for their scores haha. She deserved a lot more but this was the best. Always brings tears to my eyes
Judges gave them scores that reflected the errors VISIBLE in routines. Considering this is a country that LIED about the age of a team member here, it’s tough to see them as unfairly treated.
@@Mhochul that is a very surprising “fact”- one I have yet to see actually CORROBORATED. Romania has never been found to have falsified ages the way China was. If only Mo Huilan's beam dismount could have been landed as cleanly as Liu Xuan's here, Mo too could have won an Olympic gold. Oh and of course not falling in compulsories would have helped Mo too.
why isn't that some of my favorite beam workers have been problematic in trying to hit good routines when they were beyond worthy of gold. Yang Bo and Mo Huilan.
Ridiculous that some people think Lobaznyuk should've won. Her leaps were just as hard as Lobaznyuk's Arabian under the 2000 CoP, and they were all executed with great amplitude and precision in technique.
@@franciscocerqueira2673 Russians always think their “princesses” deserve it more than others. The selfish arrogance exudes like stale putrid sweat. You guys haven’t won many golds because your athletes can’t hit when it counts most. And where is Russia right now? Oh right, BANNED.
Oh please, a huge pause before the Arabian, nothing even remotely spectacular other than that one element, several checks on moves. This routine was substantially superior and deserved gold. Russians aren’t singularly entitled to gold, get over yourself.
The elements that take your head back are just as, if not far harder than a bunch of saltos. Her routine had great originality and no monster pauses like a certain someone else. She earned her gold. Just because she’s not Russian doesn’t mean she’s less deserving, get over it.

Sanne is not even in the same category as Liu. Not even close.
@@raulmb536 Sanne is an OLYMPIC CHAMPION, the same as Liu. Your opinion matters not one bit.
That Yang Bo was spectacular. The whole thing was spectacular.
Yeah!! Even this simple turn was.

CAN WE TALK ABOUT HOW TERRIFYING THAT SIREN SIGNALING 10 SECONDS LEFT IS???? I thought a child was being murdered...

Me too lol

That was such a satisfying moment!! So happy for Liu Xuan and this gorgeous routine, and way to end her career. Brilliant.
You definitely can’t go out on a better note than on top of the world!
I still remember this, a teary moment! Brilliant routine!! very well deserved gold
who the f blew the whistle during the dismount? Is that the 10 seconds beep back then? It freaking scared me.
her coach at 2:34 totally queened out! honey he was fabulous letting out that high pitched rainbow scream WERK!
I'm dying 😂🤣

Daaaaang that was good! And that was the most gorgeous, fancy full turn I have ever seen -- LOVE IT!

劉璇的比賽視頻看了好多次,每次看都驚嘆不已。
Love Liu Xuan!!
Beautiful!

Mo fell in optionals, not compulsories. But the fall was on her dismount!

Mo, Liu, and don’t forget Kui! If Kui had hit compulsories she may have won over Miller in ‘96, I believe she had the highest optional score at 9.875?
Why does he always have to yell when giving commentary?
Tell that to Scott Hamilton too, horrifying and annoying. I like your comment.
He’s got a lot of passion for the sport. He loves great gymnastics. :-)

And Liu Xuan didn't stand there doing nothing for like a gazillion years setting up any of her elements like Lobaznyuk, LOL
@@e2theeyepie i think Lobaznyuk is still on the beam as we speak

Ekaterina should’ve won gold. Look at how many liked the russian princess performance compared to Liu Xuan’s… Lobazniouk is a graceful doll on BB.

She is great. All of Chinese people are proud of her.
It seems like the Chinese were born on a balance beam… so natural at it.
I just her reaction when she won the gold medal 🏅
Congratulation !
Perfect 🙌🏻
AMAZING!!
That back layout and Yang Bo tho 😳😳😳
Is that omelianchik?
Wow!!😮
How old is she here?
21.
She was Wong Fie Hung's family member. Wong fei hung was so strong he killed 30 gangstas by his self

中國女子真好勁張五星紅期高高掛❤❤❤🌹🌹🌹
I honestly prefer katarina lobaznoiouk Bean routine
Too bad, so sad. This was better- at least she didn’t stand there forever and a day to do a skill then step out of it after.
wtf is that screaming before dis mount, its like a chicken is abused by something....
Yeah, that was a lot over the top for a ten second warning.
boring
Lobaznyuk gold medal
No
Yes agree Lobaznyuk had much more difficulty in her routine
@@maximoo9861 Not really. Aside from the standing Arabian, the rest was pretty much just a bunch of filler moves.

She wasn't better Lobaznyuk, because she did less saltos
Lobaz had problems on two of her saltos. Not to mention the concentration pause.
Ekaterina was great and she was one of my favourites in Sydney, but honestly this routine was the best
A beam routine is way more than saltos
