good video. I do my 2017 Cayenne oil change at home since bought it in 2017. The oil filter housing on my base Cayenne sits vertical, driver side of the engine
$500 for an oil change is absurd for how simple this job is. I was assuming it'd be like changing oil on an Audi R8 with 7 different drain plugs. Driving onto ramps with blocks at the end is so smart, I've never thought about that. I've been putting the passenger tire up onto the curb with our SUV here in NYC since we don't have a garage and that gives me enough room to work under without a jack. I could theoretically change oil without having to lift our SUV up, but I like using a 3 gallon bucket so there's less distance for the oil to spill. Are those crush washers reusable? I didn't see any mention of it being replaced.
The price the dealer charges is crazy high in my area. The crush washer should be replaced, but unfortunately, I thought I had a new one and didn't realize it til I already drained the oil that i didnt... Will definitely change next time.... thats smart putting the suv on the curb. Well thanks for watching
You SHOULD replace the washer every oil change regardless of the vehicle but most washers last 30k miles(or more yet varies depending upon manufacture and previous oil changes done) as some oil stops simply put the same drain plug and gasket(washer) back on if it didn’t struggle too much coming off and back on or if the gasket isn’t worn torn
Great video! I have a question. Right next to the undercarriage panel, on the right hand side (as you're facing the car) on the big metal block with big holes, there is an wet area that looks like metal welding. Do you happen to know why is that? Better seen at min 4:04, next to your right hand; the welding close to the hole looks wet.
Thanks, and I believe you're talking about my oil leak. I haven't had a chance to investigate it, but I plan to once it warms up. We'll thanks for watching
3.6L V6 I think they say it's normally 9 quarts, but I only measured 8.5 quarts that came out. So I put in slightly less and then checked it. Well, thanks for watching
@rivasman123 So far, so good. 90k and still running strong. Had an issue with the transfer case around 70K but luckily covered under warranty. Otherwise, it would have cost $3k to fix
I've had a lot of very minor issues that were easily fixed. In all the years I've owned It, I put less than $1k yearly into the vehicle on maintenance or repairs. But I do have the leather on the dash peeling off on the passenger side. which is a known issue in porsches with leather dashboards. Well, thanks for watching
@Ryskyguy Porsche Cayenne is great. Mines a 2016 GTS with 86k miles. I've had minor issues like the drains getting clogged and then setting off a bunch of warning lights due to it. Which almost fried my AMP. Then AC blower went probably because AC drain was clogged. The major issue I've had was transfer case $3k but under warranty, and the leather dashboard started to detach and peel away $10k. I haven't fixed it yet and probably won't. Honestly, if you want a reliable SUV, Acura MDX is the most reliable SUV I've ever owned. And the Type S Advance is really nice, but like all vehicles, they have their quirks. I would still buy a Porsche Cayenne again but most likely an S or Base model. Well, thanks for watching
@alexolga11 that's great... and wise to buy the extended warranty.... transfer case issues are very common and run about $3k. Well, I hope she enjoys it, and thanks for watching
I know it's ridiculous. I had to fill it to almost what I thought was full but not overfill. Drive it and bring extra oil with me. As soon as it registers the oil level, pull over add more if needed. We'll thank you for watching
Yes, it's ridiculous that you have to drive 10 miles before you can get a digital measurement... I wish they had an old school dip stick. Well thanks for watching
Wow, that's a lot. Owning a Porsche is never cheap. If you have the time and space... then it's definitely worth doing a few maintenance projects yourself. Well, thanks for watching
Why did you not use the new copper washer for the drain plug? It came with the new oil filter! And you know, the drain plug and oil filter housing require a certain torque! Driving a Porsche and do not have enough money to buy a 36 mm wrench?
The new copper washer was the wrong size.... next time, I'll buy the oil filter from the Porsche dealer and make sure I get a new crush washer. The reason for not having the 36 mm wasn't about money I was told it was a 31mm I drained the oil and went to change the oil filter only to find I didn't have the right size socket. Since i didn't have another vechile at the time, i had to make due with what I had. Well, thanks for watching

Thanks. Would have been a lot cleaner of a job if the GTS was the same. Well, thanks for watching
Excelente video, thank you much!.
You are welcome! And thanks for watching
Huge savings. Good video.
Thanks it definitely saved a ton

Not just. I went to Faulkner Porsche in Mechanicsburg. Charge $900 plus
.
Brilliant and simple explanation. Thank you so much!

Good Job. 1. What engine do you have in your rig?
2. How many quarts are required?
3.6L V6
I think they say it's normally 9 quarts, but I only measured 8.5 quarts that came out. So I put in slightly less and then checked it. Well, thanks for watching
How’s the reliability been with this cayenne and engine?
@rivasman123 So far, so good. 90k and still running strong. Had an issue with the transfer case around 70K but luckily covered under warranty. Otherwise, it would have cost $3k to fix
No one has done a video of a GTS yet... it's so much more messier to reach things like the oil filter...
@nanami73_ This is a GTS... and yes, trying to get the oil filter out is pretty messy. Well, thanks for watching
Thanks dude. Did my first oil change rather than having my indy do it with nicer oil too. How many miles do you go between changes?
I normally change mine 12k-15k miles. Ussually, once the service light comes on, I change it within the next 2- 3 months.
WOW! 20year factory trained Audi tech here - i do my Cayenne every 5,ooo miles. I plan on keeping this car.@@onesimpledad
woooow indeed i just did mine at 6000 miles
Thank you ❤.

Has you had a lot of maintenance issues with this vehicle?

How reliable are these cars? Old lady wants one

I just bought for my daughter 2015 base 3.6 80k, but that car has warranty up to 100k, I will buy extended after that
@alexolga11 that's great... and wise to buy the extended warranty.... transfer case issues are very common and run about $3k. Well, I hope she enjoys it, and thanks for watching
Why not buy a filter from Porsche parts ?
Amsoil is also a better choice
Would have preferred a filter from the dealer, but this is the one I could get quickly and at a good price. Well thanks for watching
how much torques for drain plug and oil filter?
Normally, 37 ft lb for the drain plug and 19 for oil filter housing, but check with your dealer on your specific model and year vehicle
@@onesimpledad Thank you!
How much liter oil are you putting in it?
I put in 8.5 quarts, which is just over 8 liters. Well, thanks for watching
You can’t check the oil level, drive 10 miles 😂
I know it's ridiculous.
I had to fill it to almost what I thought was full but not overfill. Drive it and bring extra oil with me. As soon as it registers the oil level, pull over add more if needed. We'll thank you for watching

It usually doesn't take that long on mine
As a tech, I completely agree. Fun fact, more euro cars and hybrids need to do the same fir an accurate read as well.
It really grinds my gears ⚙️ ;)
Porsche charged me 500.00 for a new drain plug & oil change SMH 😞
Wow, that's a lot.

The world will be a better please if people like you just learn how and when to shut up.
Porsche wanted $780 for my 2023 gts
800 in my town .. have you got it changed yet I’m wondering if the bmw dealer can do it
Wow, that's a lot. If you can do it yourself for $80, a shop shouldn't charge more than $250. Well, thanks for watching
Owning a Porsche is the reason I learned how to work on cars.
