    I worked for Albertsons for 12 years. Its a union company but.. in the contract that was sighned about a year before i left said that they could take away a 40 hour lock if they "were in a crisis". Then a year later they announce they "were in a crisis". After having my hours cut to the bear minimum (20) i went from making 550 a week take home to qualifying for food stamps overnight. I left and went to work at a national chain that was just around the corner.
    When the contract was announced i told everyone that there was a reason they were adding that language. I knew they intended to use it and it was inevitable that hours would be revoked. Again.. Chael is right.

    • @Daddy_Bear_722
      @Daddy_Bear_722 Рік тому

      He's not though. His argument was that the closing date in the real estate purchase agreement didn't matter bc he can just take it to court....but then he turns right around and admits there is other language in the same contract to carve out exceptions. You signed a new contract that removed your "guarantee" of 40 hours.
      Chael is simply poinitng out the obvious fact that there are exceptions and loopholes in the USADA bylaws of the ufc fighter contract. And then he's pretending to have re-invented the wheel just bc he read the small print. There's nothing insightful in this video or your comment.

    THIS is the type of info I expect from the Chael Master! Even Chael only hinted around the actual info that he knows, but gave us "some" insight. I have friends who are "contract lawyers" and they make BIG BANK. They make big money when they write the contracts and they make big money when they defend the contracts. Contracts aren't worth the paper they are written on, only worth how much someone is willing to spend to enforce them. And NEVER go to war with someone that has more money than you, you will lose about 95% of the time. Why most lawsuits are "settled" out of court or in arbitration. If you don't, there will be no money for either side in the end, it will ALL get spent on attorney fees. Conor knows EXACTLY what he is doing and is colluding with the UFC legal team to make sure it goes smoothly. Conor doesn't need the UFC anymore, but the UFC very much needs Conor. So it will play out perfectly for Conor to get to fight this year, but could only go bad for him if he loses to Chandler. In the end Conor still wins as he gets paid and still has drawing power vs Nate for one last fight. Everyone win$ in the long run.

    Athlete, UFC, and Inactivity are all capitalized because they are defined terms. You would need to read the whole contract to locate where they are defined and their definitions. This is usually earlier in the contract or where the terms are first introduced. Once the word is defined, it’s capitalized later in the contract to indicate it’s exact meaning.

  • @aleksandarpetrovic9772
    @aleksandarpetrovic9772 Рік тому

    I do appreciate Chael’s point about capitalizing terms like “Athlete” and “Inactivity”, but anybody’s who’s executed any level of commercial contracts knows that the first few paragraphs will almost always define how this specific contract identifies different parties. For example, a B2B contract for a new vendor will often list “Company” to mean the business buying services, located at XYZ address, and “Vendor” to mean whichever company is supplying the Company’s business with said service.

    I would guess that Conor negotiates the meat of each contract at this point, so he's not contractually obligated to the UFC, or rather under contract to the UFC in the manner other UFC fighters would be. The fact he was injured in the way he was and the unique arrangement of his obligations between Conor and the UFC could apply to exceptional circumstances.

    Chael, when a word like that is capitalized that just signals that it is a defined term. You need to scroll back up to the definitions section to see how it is defined.

    So, according to Chael, @7:20
    We can read the contracts, or the legal documents, but we aren’t allowed to interpret them?
    Then why are we expected to understand them and sign them?
    Why have them written up to begin with? What good is an acknowledgement of the words on said document,if we are legally not fit to interpret or understand them on our own?
    Kinda confusing
