the "yes i'm kazuma" gag is not even in the script nor in the Novel, it was adlib by the VA according to their radio show about the series

Konosuba is BACK!
Season 3 Episode 1 is obviously based on the Light Novel Vol 5 cut content.
The Plant Girl scene was originally in the light novel that was before Kazuma were attacked by those Wild Orc Women.
But because they didn't have the run time to include everything in the Light Novel Vol 5, they decided to leave this scene for Season 3 Episode 1 and they had a few more references to the movie in this episode.
Have u ever watched Always Sunny in Philadelphia? Love that sitcom, also a bunch of degenerates that you love to hate and poke fun at. Only shows like Konosuba and Gintama scratch that itch, so good to see that this gang is back in full force.
I still enjoyed that Megumin spin off from a bit ago. It’s cool to get LORE imo. But truly nothing beats the offbeat cohesion all four have.

Supplementary info/LN changes (might be a longer comment this episode, due to content in this episode and etc, so sorry in advance.)
Fun fact: most of this episode is anime original and rearranged cut content from LN 5/the movie (Sylvia and related PTSD, Kazuma wanting to be a monk, Chris appearing, and the mallet are all anime original.) 2:49 - Just to confirm, yes (they did the KonoBakuen prequel/spin-off LN series adaptation last year, but not for everyone.) 4:43 - That’s fine. 9:30 - It’s funny, since he’s anime original and doesn’t exist in the LNs. 10:24 - LN 5 (and another LN) are the most beloved LNs in the series, which makes sense why the movie and some of this episode was so great. 13:25 - From LN 1, there was foreshadowing of KazuMegu with moments of them bonding and him telling her about Japan (which the campfire scene was the climax of those moments), which were all cut for time/jokes and LN 3/S2 was where Kazuma really got interested in her when he found out she was only two years apart and that was his only downside he gave her (in LN 5/the movie, there’s a extra day and night, which increased their bonds.)
To summarize: Megumin promised to give him Valentine’s Day chocolates to beat his younger brother fairly in a competition (and casually confessed she likes him), then claimed Kazuma as ‘her man’ in front of Yun Yun, Funifura, and Dodonko. 14:28 - 300 million Eris in a lump sum. 15:24 - When Megumin held his hand, he reminisced his past (it’s implied that she’s like his childhood friend) of his childhood friend wanting to marry him, only for him to get traumatized from seeing her riding a senpai’s bike and never went back to school/became a HikiNEET and became well known in online games. This is basically why he is the way that he is/‘gender equality’ and that he has PTSD. 18:44 - It’s neat because it’s an ad-lib and they kept it in. Extra info about Tranquility Girl: the stump is part of the body, it gives a lot of EXP (like the Farfetch’d monster from KonoBakuen), and old people seek one out to die in tranquility (hence the name) by eating a placebo fruit that doesn’t feed them and they pass away in peace and painlessly (19:39 - refers to them eating the fruit, basically a drug addiction.)
25:13 - Not sure if this was intentional, but Hagen is just missing another word to be an ice cream brand. It’s similar to the movie, where Ep. 1 contains the cliffhanger ending from the previous book (the letter from Iris is how the movie should’ve ended and Ep. 2 will be the start of LN 6.) 27:50 - Based on Kazuma’s letters to his parents from the LN and they made original ending letters each episode for the 2 seasons. 29:15 - They were packaged with LNs after the Seasons and the LNs finished, so I dunno besides the 11 eps this Season. 29:20 - Don’t want to give false hope, but it wasn’t officially stated and the post I found on it was an April Fool’s post (however, they adapted KonoBakuen, which you would only adapt if you potentially plan S4.) For context, there are 10 more main LNs to adapt (5 Seasons) and 3 Spin-offs (Continued! KonoBakuen Spin-off series, Dust Spin-off series, and Vanir Spin-off.) Extra tangent: the author was discouraged from writing by a teacher, but they didn’t give up and won a Publisher award for the series that only another has gotten many years later and currently the author is relaxing playing Street Fighter 6 and writing stories with works in the shared universe (multiverse?) nicknamed as the Akatsuki-verse.

This episode gives me hope that they'll somehow incorporate the dust party switch somehow..... though at this point in the story, they'd either have to reconstruct the entire context of the scenario, or showcase it through a flashback.
Princess Iris, can't wait to get figures of her.
As a light novel reader, the Princess Iris volumes are Light Novel Vol 6 and Light Novel Vol 10.
She does have moments in Light Novel Vol 11 before she is forced to leave the story, but overall she is such a perfect ship for Kazuma to sail with her.
The Kazuma x Darkness ship is gonna show some signs of sailing if Season 3 covers Light Novel Vol 7 content.
There is some real strong Shipping vibes between Kazuma and Darkness that has yet to be adapted into the Anime.
