HomePod Mini is at a great price (imo), iPad Mini is exactly priced where it should be, the Mac Mini is a steal. See a trend?
I realized Apple probably wanted to make 16gb of ram the base but didn't want to make the price higher, so they made the base lower so the 16 gb would be 100 bucks more than what the base m1 used to be, so they get the press of the lower price and most people will get 16 gigs for more than the m1 base was.
Why soldered SSD? Why 3x-4x overpriced Storage per TeraByte. Apple 2TB SOldered SSD ---> 800$. On Amazon , Easily replaceable 2TB Samsung 980PRO 200$. Why just 1 year warranty on something as important as a Personal Computer? Why the repair of a faulty Dead SSD is Replacing the whole guts of the computer likely resulting in the customer paying half the price of the machine? Why people dumb and ignorant as shit? Why Apple Evil?
@@codenamegrs9278 you’re literally looking at the bad stuff only, they are actually releasing a computer that is powerful and good for it’s price range. I bet you can’t find a computer that is as powerful as the Mac mini with the same price range.
The base model seems like a good deal, but $200 to add 8GB of RAM is insane.
Yeah and even more for 512gb (at least my country). The base model should be 16gb and 512gb for 800-850$

@@ArthropodSpidey Even so, a lot of people use their Mac for video editing. 16gb is needed for that, with good optimisation or not.
When you add the 8GB RAM and 256GB SSD to make it look like a modern desktop should have, it suddenly becomes not so much of a good deal any more.
Just got my Mac mini with M2 Pro ($1299) yesterday and am loving everything about it. I had purchased a base MacBook Air last month, but after seeing the Mini's release this week, was able to return it to Amazon. The performance boost is very sweet!
Honestly love the Mac Mini, I've been using my 2020 Mac Mini for my school work and it's been amazing so far. I think it's great how Apple offers education discounts, and I've been seriously thinking about upgrading to the M2 Mac Mini with 16 GB ram. Any thoughts?
That's the play, and that EDU discount definitely helps soak up the upgrade cost. If you need extra storage down the line, just nab yourself an external drive. Depending on how much you save 256GB might not be enough.
@@DNKI Exactly! I was messing with the specs and with the edu discount, it comes out to be $879 for 512gb storage and 16gb ram before taxes, which is very tempting. I don't think the 1 tb storage is worth Apple's cost, so an external drive would definitely be the best bet for more storage down the line.

Just ordered the MM with 512GB storage. My first desktop Mac. With the $100 discount it stills good deal.
the mac mini is a perfect ARM powered home server. it’s so much more powerful than raspberry pi’s and is so power efficient than x86 machines.
A desktop you can't easily upgrade is out for best desktop to me

Honestly, if they would just make it so you could update your RAM and storage this would be so much better. It's the one area where a PC version can be an improvement, but like you said, you will be hard pressed to find something with the optimization of the M2 (not sure if the power would be unmatched, but you'd have to shop around and possibly enter into building it yourself to come close)
Price is pretty good on this though, which...hey, for Apple, that's a bit of a surprise tbh.

Every time Ken records a mac mini setup the desktop background is default, but when he records a macbook setup it always has a anime desktop background

If that Macbook Air was a reasonable price, I would 100% buy one. I could make good use of it. But I'm not dropping $1000 for a laptop that is as powerful as a windows laptop that I got brand new for $500, that has 4x more storage.

I bought an M2 mac mini. It's a great computer. I do feel like something that needs to be said is that it has Wi-fi connection problem. It's something that is known. Other then that it is a awesome computer. I love it. Just figured it was something that needed to be said

Probably a stupid question so please don't beat me up to much but will this mac mini work with a "cheap-o" screen, keyboard and mouse or does it have to be all apple all the time?

Generally works with any screen with an HDMI port, and any USB mouse/keyboard.

Is it possible for the team to have someone test autocad and revit on these systems? I haven't really found a solid review / demo of how these work on Apple silicon, the architecture community would be grateful to find out
CAD is really not Mac's strong point, save yourself money and invest in a PC.
There are features exclusive to Windows that do not exist in Mac versions at all.
@@uribak9144 that makes sense, I use a windows system anyways - was curious to know as I use a gaming laptop which with it's charging brick is bulky and the battery is what it is - with the impressive performance and battery of the new macs I have been intrigued to know if I can use something similar in the future. But I get why people don't test these machines for CAD stuff. Similarly there was a dream of windows on ARM with no actual future in sight.
I refurbished/used M1 Mac Mini is a great deal if you live in the U.S. If you can afford a 16gb Unified Memory M1 or M2 Mac Mini definitely consider that, future proofing your Mac Mini for future big MacOS updates.
Not a apple fan at all, but I'm not gonna lie, that's a pretty well priced computer.
While I am not defending allles ridicule pricing I’d say get as much ram as you can afford to and get an external ssd in the future since it’s a desktop it makes sense

I'm coming from windows and this will be my first mac. i was going to get the base m2 mac mini, i will only use it for web surfing, basic office stuff like excel / email and to watch videos and listen to music. Now im more confused than ever if the base m2 mac mini will run that ok ?

it's a well priced piece of mac hardware, perfect for people who need in into the ecosystem. like an office pc for developers doing app dev but lives not in macland.

i don't think this is a good general public rec though. people who can afford apple stuff would just get it done with a macbook of some kind. PCs are for people who appreciate desktop flexibility, which mac mini does not have much of.
I am going to use it for MS office, Netflix, youtube, and very occasional editing. Will M2 mac mini base model will serve the purpose with sufficient speed?

As always, When buying a Mac slightly over estimate things like RAM and storage you will need just in case because what you get is what you get!
This is true for RAM, but storage is easily expandable with external drive.

For content creation Are any of the upgrades worth adding to get a better 4k60 (shot on shartphone h. 265) editing experience?
The base-model is fine for most general editing. But if you color grade and use a lot of 3rd party plug-ins, that upgrade to 16GB of RAM is worth it period.

The Mac Air also offers you a monitor a keyboard and mouse trackpad, that could be the price difference.

$600, completely proprietary, not exactly outpacing anything in its price range, locked ecosystem and software where any add-ons or upgrades are egregiously expensive. Eh. For an average consumer maybe, but anybody any more than that should probably consider spending a tad more for a device a lot more capable or getting something similar, but that still punches a little higher out of the box and won't cost as much to use down the road. Mac and Windows are still literally Apples to Oranges for me.
Edit note: I was able to overhaul Windows 11 in about an hour or so to look, feel and act a lot like MacOS. Active Dock, the "MenuBar" all decked out and fully functional with a Windows dark theme, widgets drawer with tons to choose from, MacOS cursors and Windows system UI, ect. Can't do stuff like that on a Mac.
But yet you're still running windows under the hood which is the big issue.
