Thanks for the update on Turbowski. I often watch those old videos and I completely understand when you talk about his lack of excitement. Really enjoy these livestreams.

Discussion at 12mins. Also there's dillholes with money buying all the new cars that they don't even want and selling them 4 months later for $8K over MSRP 1h36m: my buddy and I have the same agreement. I get the CTR he grabs a GR Corolla and we compare. Assuming we can both get them, of course 1h47m. Turn all those dealerships into branded CPO car lots and keep the maintenance department. Maintenance and used cars is where the majority of the dealership income is from anyhow Diesel discussion at 3h5m. The EPA has clamped down so hard on diesel emissions that the benefits of it are lost. Once upon a time you could get a Jetta that got 52mpg and had more torque than any other 4 banger on the road. But then the EPA clamped down. Prices for diesel doubled, particulate filters became mandatory, DEF got introduced, and emissions tightened. Now diesel cars and trucks make less torque per liter and gas milage suffers. It's simply not worth it to make a diesel car anymore. Too many hoops to jump through with no benefits
Enthusiasts are forever griping about "lack of engagement". But Mark, you used to own what is arguably one of the most engaging cars ever: the Ariel Atom. And IIRC you sold it because in your words "it got old". When I hear people complain that they "want to feel in control!", I think to myself they should take up wrestling or triathalons or something where success or failure is 100% on the individual. Even in a car like the Atom, the car is doing over 95% of the work. I understand that people long for the sweet spot of cheap, fast, lots of feedback, great handling etc, all the while getting over 30 mpg. Those days are never coming back.
Jack mentioned having a shitbox and a cool car at the same time. I'm currently driving a GT350 and a manual Fiesta sedan, which never ceases to be hilarious to me.
I think the 10/10 rage for mild inconvenience is more of a cultural thing. When I lived in Australia this was pretty normal. However after 6 years driving in Japan, which has some of the stupidest road designs and traffic flow patterns (think single lane two way road, so narrow a single car completely fills the only lane and meeting incoming traffic requires reversing) I don't remember a single incident that involved more than single short horn toots. I think the west is just entitled. Other countries have more patience and understand the other person is just trying to do their thing too.
I missed the chance to drop a super chat when you guys were live but what I was wondering is what is up with Honda? Our local Honda dealer, one of the largest in eastern Nebraska, has less than 12 cars in stock to purchase. Most of what we see online is inbound or pending. Out of all of the dealers and brands in town, Lexus, Toyota, Chevy, Hyundai, etc., I have seen less new Hondas in stock than the others. Is it because of chip and parts shortages or are manufacturers trying to change the model where you can only order online, or is it both. Anyway, this was a great podcast and thanks guys!
