    Please subscribe! - bit.ly/PetePeppers
    Twin Peaks season 3 part 13 had a lot of interesting details you might have missed on first watch. We look at our favorite ten things and the questions they pose. Some of these include the furniture in Audrey Horne and Charlie's room, Big Ed's reflection looking off at the end of part 13, Evil Coop being the boss of the Farm now, and many more.
    Twin peaks the return part 13 also hinted that time may be out of sequence in season 3. When Bobby Briggs, Ed Hurley, and Norma are talking Bobby mentions that they found some stuff from his dad, Major Briggs, today. This may be hard evidence that this encounter happened out of order with the other Twin Peaks episodes in season 3.
    Twin Peaks season 3 is getting towards the end with only five parts left. Did you notice all ten of these things when you watched part 13? Did you notice different ones? Let us know in the comments, and let us know where you think things are headed in Twin Peaks s3 from here on out.

    Audrey's scene and delivery made me think of Inland Empire, how the character of the Lost Girl is trapped in a 'wicked dream' from which she can't get out. Also, she is always disoriented about where and when she is. So in a way I think Audrey is trapped in some kind of limbo that is and is not Twin Peaks. She's between worlds.

    Did anyone else love the scene with Dougie and the casino crew walking into the office? The music caught that moment perfectly.

    It's funny. I felt that 'fatigue' after the last episode, but when I watched it again I was struck at how brilliant it was, cinematically and from an acting standpoint. This episode was great, and will likely be even better with another watch or two. The layering that Lynch creates makes his stuff so rewarding to see again. Without the expectations we've built up of what WE want, when you know how it goes down, allows you to just appreciate and enjoy more fully what he's offering.
    It's not the episode we WANTED, it's the episode we NEEDED. I guess I could say that about the entire thing really.
    And no one is really discussing much the most chilling line of the entire episode, and the episode title, what does 'end your story' mean??? It almost broke the 4th wall for me in a way, as if Lynch himself were saying it through Charlie.

    It seems like everyone is waiting for Lynch and Frost to tie up all the storylines to give us a deeper understanding of the story. We need to remember that this is David Lynch we are watching and his goal isn't necessarily to spoon feed the answers to the audience or even provide any answers. I think Lynch has always preferred working on themes and moods and the elements of these scenes (often very fragmented) are his vehicles for taking the visitor there. So don't expect a big cathartic understanding of the story at then end. Just sit back and enjoy the ride. If you need a show that provides the relief of a contact resolution there are plenty of other shows to watch.

    • @garycottier92
      @garycottier92 7 років тому +5

      Yes I agree but it's all to easy to ask a load of questions and not give any answers and just say 'that's David Lynch for you'. There needs to be a balance somewhere.

      Lorem Opossum I get it but there is a thing: many years ago i ve watched Mulholland drive and didn't understand a lot of things, so I went to the internet to find the answers and there were many responds similiar to yours like " its Lynch, theres nothing to understand here, just a picture, beautiful and mistery but it doesnt have any hidden or deep meaning" . But this movie wasnt like that at all! I mean there was logic not just strange pics with no answers...and I think this show has these logic and racional answers too, we are just not smart enough to find them and Lynch knows it and he kinda trolls us

    • @Nicolas-Kage
      @Nicolas-Kage 7 років тому

      Lorem Opossum He could make it more enjoyable to watch as well. A lot of characters are shoe horned in just because. Many don't contribute to anything. Everyone in the original seasons is at some point used and given character building scenes. I feel like regardless of if things will be explained or not, that this season is not a strong story.

    • @mallanh1
      @mallanh1 7 років тому +1

      Wow I was about to write something similar Lorem Opossum. People that are yearning for Coop and plot explanations may be let down. I think we are building to an explosive climactic event that will leave many more questions. Coop returning at the end of ep.16 and being in ep. 17 and 18 would be my guess if he is to return. I'm not holding my breath even though the creators are constantly showing flashes of Dale in the autistic gaze of Dougie.

      I agree, Lynch has said he doesn't like to resolve stories but leave some mystery. How can the Lodges be explained anyway? Just depicted. I'm waiting for Linda and 430 anyway. Dougie's story sure is interesting.

    Also, another tiny tiny clue for me that time is all whacky in TP, is in the end scene with Ed. He is seen eating a cup of instant soup, however it seems like he just had a dinner at the diner as Norma brought him his plate of what looked like a huge chicken fried steak dinner...Could be that he just got hungry again and needed a little snack, but could back up theory of time issues going on.

    Another observation: the character widely thought to be Billy (Andy visited him, he was freaked out, didn't show up to the later meeting with Andy) was credited as "Farmer" in that episode. The bank guy in ep. 13 is credited as "Farm accountant". Seems like a clear tie between the two things, even though the scenes are happening in different locations. "Billy" gave no indication of being an actual farmer. and he fits the look of the others in the ep. 13 scene with Bad Coop. Also, the name Bid Ed's Gas Farm. I don't know...just lots of "farm" references with no farm.

    I'm pretty sure the reflection glitches out because the portion of the image was looped, so that the same car passes by his window twice. You can see him reaction to it!

    There is definitely something ominous about Ed in this episode (the way he stares at Norma; the way he is so interested in Bobby's detective work; the way he sits, waiting at the convenience store). Notice he had two of the same lamps on his desk at the convenience store. Lamps are significant for sure--wonder what it means?

    The bear head and headless bear body made me instantly think of the poor Major's body being found with Ruth Davenport's head. Given that Davenport and Hastings were exploring paranormal phenomena, the astronaut helmet on Johnny's bear possibly tied into that. Since it was empty, however, was that supposed to be symbolic of Johnny's mental condition, or just a harbinger of how Lynch will leave all of us feeling at the season's end? ;)

    I remembered that at the end of episode 2 there is another Sarah Palmer scene like this one, but she is watching lions attacking another animal, instead of boxers. The camera pans around the scene with focus on the mirror above her and the reflection of the TV. But there doesn't seem to be the same looping going on, unless someone else notices anything.

    Hawk visits Glastonbury Grove and the red drapes appear amid the sycamore trees. Nothing is ever said of this. Was it an issue with time?
    "Where's Billy?" The RR Diner seems to jump from one arrangement of customers and staff to another. Was this an issue with time?
    DougieCoop plays ball with Sonny Jim. The scene takes place right in the middle of DougieCoop's night out with the Mitchum Brothers. Was this an issue with time?
    Bobby just found something of his father's today. Becky hasn't seen Steven in two days. Both scenes seem to be set before the crazed Becky goes off to shoot Steven, and before Bobby encounters the traffic jam with the old screaming lady and the sick kid. Was this an issue with time?
    Speculation: The scene with Sarah Palmer shows her running out of alcohol. Could this be BEFORE her trip to the grocery store and her freak out? Also, Deputy Jesse in Episode 11 heard two gunshots at Big Eds Gas Farm before showing up at the traffic jam with the honking lady. Ed was looking very depressed in episode 13. Might he have fired a gun or attempted suicide (or shot the glass and the weird reflection)? These things all seem to be out of sequence as well, an issue with time yet again??
    Note: I don't think this is continuity errors simply because Lynch doesn't make such numerous mistakes like that. I think it is all on purpose, for reasons we are not yet privy to.

  • @shanekurenoff5136
    @shanekurenoff5136 7 років тому +3

    Two things I wonder about from this episode are:
    1) When Sarah Palmer leaves to get herself some more alcohol the clinking bottle sounds are the same as the clinking bottle sounds when Hawk visits her and she responds to his inquiry if someone is in the house with - "No. There's something is in the kitchen." - Possible thoughts: That time loop thingee is always going on there - or she is living with her own doppelganger in the house. Most likely it is something else - ha. But David Lynch does love his audio clues and connections.
    2) I think that the booth Renee is in - is the booth that every Roadhouse booth scene is shot in - and also as a friend pointed out - is the same booth where Donna breaks down weeping in the original series after The Giant tells Cooper "It is happening again." - as Leland/Bob is murdering Maddy. A lot of pain and sorrow in that booth. (wink wink). I wonder what substance the top of the table in that booth is made out of?
    Again - as always - great work Pete - I look forward to these videos second only to the show itself. Cheers!

      Oh my god, I love the idea of Sara Palmer living with her doppelganger. That is so genuinely terrifying with the way she is and the noises in the kitchen. that has actually given me chills. Who knows if he has planned this, but fuck that isi such an amazing idea, I hope this is the case! If it was the case I can just imagine seeing them together in the house and the real Sara doing that haunting scream she does when she looks at the other one. Sake, my partner is away and I'm actually creeped out now, ha. - Alaso, this reminds me of that amazing Lynch creepiness you get in Lost Highway with the guy who says he's in his house. It's so hard to find that creepiness that he does, but god for me that would be the creepiest idea ever, not sure why its creeped me out so much, can't wait until my boyfriend is back lolllz

    Back in ep 11(?) when Deputy Jesse shows up in the honking woman/puking girl scene, doesn't he say something about responding to gunshots at the Gas Farm? If the timeline really is out of whack, that hasn't happened yet during this episode. Is that foreshadowing something coming up for Ed?

      I agree with Jamie Breswell. It sounded to me as if he meant he heard gunshots around big Ed's gas farm. I'm not sure how far the gas farm is from the RR so I can't be certain but I didn't think the deputy was referring to the shots outside the diner. Either way it doesn't really matter I suppose.

    In regards to time issues...I thought I'd hear mention of that scene in the previous episode where Dougie is seen playing ball with Sonny....but then in this episode is seems he had an allnighter with Mitchum Bros? So it felt to me as if he never went home after the scenes in episode 11.

    Another great video. A lot of things I missed.
    If Audrey is still in a coma then how did she give birth to Richard?
    This is from Episode 12, but another thing that is out of order is the sequence where Sonny Jim throws a baseball and it hits Dougie in the head. This scene is shown AFTER episode 11 in which he had a night out with the Mitchem brothers and they talked about getting him a gym set. There was obviously no gym set when Sonny Jim and Dougie are playing "catch" in the back yard and Dougie had been out all night and arrived after the gym set and the BMW were delivered in Episode 13.

      Yeah time is out of whack. In episode twelve Gordon says it 11:05 and then a few scenes later Dr. Amp says, "it's seven o'clock". I think there's maybe a two hour time difference between south Dakota and Peaks(not 100% though) but it still doesn't add up. But why would Lynch as Gordon purposely make it plain that at that moment it was 11:05 and then put a Dr. Amp scene in afterwards? Could be a continuity error though. Another one.

    One line that stood out to me that no one seems to be discussing is when Battling Bud said that "Dougie implicated himself." Wonder what his involvement was or why Bushnell furious at him. Not sure really what to make of it, but found it surprising.

    • @InnocentSmith831
      @InnocentSmith831 7 років тому

      I don't think Bushnell is furious with Dougie. Dougie probably implicated himself because the "real" Dougie was probably working with Anthony in perpetuating fraud. By marking the policies where the light shone there was most likely evidence of Manufactured Dougie being in on it. My take is that Bushnell excuses him because he came clean and told the truth of the situation.

    • @garycottier92
      @garycottier92 7 років тому

      Yeah I'm not to sure about the implication and I'm not too sure why Anthony says Dougie saved his life either. Maybe by stopping him poisoning Dougie? But the poison was surely to be used so it wouldn't come back to Anthony? I don't know.

    • @justwondersometimes2482
      @justwondersometimes2482 7 років тому +1

      Innocent Smith: when anthony was talking to the mitchum bros didnt he say something about how it was he who sold them the policy but that it was dugie that was handling the claim? If dougie was denying claims that were valid such as the mitchums claim then by marking up his own case files the way he did would implicate him as an accomplice. what got dougie on mullins good side was dougies car being blown up and almost killed by Ike. Mullins saw it as dougie took responsibility with great risk to his life and therefore showed integrity.

    During Sarah Palmer scene, the timing of the 'electricity' during the loop changes around 48:20 (into the episode)- it 'fires' in the middle of the loop instead of the end.

    Lynch himself has said that it was common for a projectionist to sometimes accidentally put on the wrong reel and a movie might be shown out of sequence. Many have said that he approached this as an 18 hr movie. I wonder if certain scenes are meant to go with other ones? For example, at the Double RR when the shot rings out and we soon meet a woman screaming that they are late for diner and that the girl is sick and has not seen her dad in a very long time. Will that occur coming up so we see who they are and the event leading up to that moment?

      I will be absolutely shocked if we see the lady and the 'zombie' girl again. I think they are just little diversions or vignettes and have nothing really to do with anything. Just little stories in their own right.

      Around the diner table the conversation is lively. Not saying they are featured players in the narrative, but I have a feeling we will see many things pay-off that were set-up earlier in the season for some reason.

    • @tonialoconte

      Yep, I was looking to say the same thing. Plus, Audrey does mention having an affair with someone else. In "No Exit," you have three characters who are each attracted to someone else in the room, but no one wants the same person. So, A wants B, B wants C, and C wants A. (For the uninitiated, that's the play that the saying "Hell is other people" comes from.) It's a curious parallel. She definitely seems to be trapped somewhere else, or stuck in her own coma, since everything is out-of-date.

    I think the reflection thing is a glitch. In order to shoot reflections sometimes they shoot it separately in order to avoid reflections from the camera crew and the lightning crew. Then later they combine the two composites in post production.

    Did anyone else not feel that Becky's phone call scene with shelley was another out of timeline order scenario ? She was worried in this episode 13 that stephen hadn't come home for 2 days but in episode 11 it seemed like Becky was reacting after she found out where he had actually been, which was with the Haywood sister.

    Pete, just a note to say I very much respect your breakdowns of the episodes... your details are firmly rooted in the history from the original. I too got a liiiittttlllle fatigued at how this episode ended. Was misled from the opening two scenes that this was going to be that action packed all the way through. From the details you point out it confirms my theory that the so called "intermediary-lodge" underneath the WAITING ROOM, the gateway towards what is now known as WHITE LODGE", becomes relevant again as Dale Cooper escaped through power
    source number three, while number fifteen did not work yet, so during the next episode Naido will appear at Jack Rabbits Palace where Bobby will take Hawk, Sheriff Truman and Andy. Her role will become more relevant in episode fifteen, when something tries to emerge through the respectively numbered power socket.
    Due to his frivolous nature, Andy is the one who will enter the sub terrain WAITING ROOM, probably via the appearing of a new Vortex, and visit Carel Struycken's character who shows him all information. Vaudeville theater going into full throttle, the scene might mirror Andy stepping onto the wooden terrace and discovering a clue during the Laura Palmer investigation.
    However this Dale Cooper who exited through slot three is the one Gordon Cole probably sees when meeting a special person (Mirroring the office scene in FWWM). It could be Monica Bellucci as she has yet a cameo to come and usually external celebrities are presented in their original roles, see Reznor, Moby, Del Rio. As dark spirits draw closer Sarah Palmer will somewhat show her true face. However the key towards Cole and Dougie meeting is Diane who might claim to have affiliations with Janey-E but I believe it might be a bad Coop failsafe as they seem to be in correspondence.

    The non-linear time makes me think of Rabbits, because the dialogue was shuffled around. If a character asks a question, the other person gives an answer to a question that was asked way before or will be asked. But otherwise, i don't understand what's going on. The looping is also on "Hello Johnnie" scene and Diane's vision of the Woodsmen was flipped. We don't know at this point if its intentional, but it seems to be, since it's happening a lot.

    I really don't understand the whole "fatigue" commentary. Not from you so much Pete. Honestly, if I was working as hard as you to bring so much great info into the world, I might be more fatigued. I watch each episode twice, skin your vids and a couple others and then get excited for the next week. I LOVE Dougie. I LOVE Agent Cooper. I LOVE Mr. C. I feel so lucky to be alive at this moment in time to experience what might be one of the largest acts of artistic altruism in my lifetime. I think every second of every frame is exactly what David Lynch wanted to share with us.
    All that being said, i of course respect the fact that everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I don't understand it often, but I respect the right to have it. Honestly, I don't think we'll ever truly experience this event until it is released and you all come to my home in Hollywood and we can project in on the side of my house for 18 hours. We just got 14 tonight and it was just, god, so good. Who would have thought. That area up there, I've spent a lot of time in the areas around snoqualamie and north eastern Washington. I'm not positive of all the filming locations, but what Lynch has done up there, I've never experienced anything like it. Just beautiful. SMELL THOSE DOUGLAS FIRS! Diane, I know I'm rambling. Let's not obsess yet. We'll have plenty of time to obsess once all (or most of) the puzzle pieces are handed to us from the other room. We've got most of the pieces, we may never know what the image is, but let's wait until we get all the pieces.
    Until then, LET'S BE THE DREAMERS

    I've said it in other comment sections and I'll say it again: There is a reason the series started out with multiple people asking "is it future or is it past". We were being told that what we were about to see was going to be, at best, an unreliable narrative. Episode 8 pretty much confirmed that. But now people are noticing obvious glitches or inconsistencies or strange causality within the show. I, for one, would be shocked to find Shelly so kind and caring with her daughter if that call about Stephen was really made after the door shooting incident. I'm sure, when all things are said and done, some fans will put out a fan edit of the show in chronological order, but I also believe it will be nowhere near as interesting. Ever watch the Memento special feature where you can view the film in chronological order? Boooor-INg!!

    If this episode doesn't make anyone an instant fan of Lynch nothing will. The way Kyle was arm wrestling was an unpredictability not seen in television film in the 21st century. Do you see the two faces in the radio in the scene with Audry and her "husband" Charlie? Who is like the dancing midget, Man from Another Place. And they are in another waiting room - which is why the two seem separated in the space. Of course things are out of order. The dark hobo men are in both in the 1950's and in the now, Bad Dale time.
    Bobby is saying that they found it today - not that Maj Briggs left it today. The syntax of the line may be meant to imply Briggs left it today or to be deliberately ambiguous. And to impart a sense of the eternal now.
