Over 50 years ago, the world was first introduced to what would quickly become a cultural phenomenon for the ages. Star Trek broke barriers then and continues to do so now, inspiring people of all generations and walks of life with its celebration of cultural diversity, scientific exploration, and the pursuit of uncharted frontiers. Today, the Star Trek universe continues to thrive, exploring all new missions for Starfleet.
This is what I want to see: people that are passionate about Trek working on Trek. Something that the old Abrams films seemed to lack.
discovery and that and...
That was shit to make JJ $$. JJ is about the Benjamins.
The JJ films were excellent
S2 was fantastic. Can't wait for S3!
I am surprised that no one has mentioned that there was a TNG episode by the same name. Based on that, I think the premise is good.
Was is TNG, or was it Babylon 5?
@@putinscat1208 It was TNG. The creator of Lower Decks cited that episode as his inspiration for the show.
I get huge Red Dwarf vibes from Mariner and Boimler (i.e. Lister and Rimmer), and I love that the show respects the Star Trek canon while also deconstructing and lampshading it wherever appropriate.
Since it is on All Access I hope we get it on Netflix overseas, like we do Discovery. I want to see this and Picard. 😎
I'm so happy to see Jerry O'Connel be a part or Star Trek. To me he will forever be a legend for his role in Sliders. (Sliders for me is only the first 3 seasons). And he has had an incredible influence on me just like Star Trek, so it will be awesome to experience this combo. You can't have enough Star Trek, so it's a good time to be living these moments with all these Star Trek shows at once. I hope they all get to do the traditional 7 season run and all works out well. I do really hope there are some Sliders references in there :)
There are probably more Star Trek-based parodies then there are episodes of Star Trek.
Than.
Excited... but nobody tweeted anything when TNG ended. There was no Twitter much less social media as we know it today. That was a bizarre recollection by Heather Kadin.
haha I'm shocked there were not more comments to this fact
that podcast sounds really interesting - would love to hear from scientists and other people who were inspired by Star Trek!
What is that host on?!
Can I have some?
Rebecca Romjin. And most likely not.
@@MKB2814 what's crazy is that Jerry O'Connell, to me, is the biggest star on this stage, whereas I don't know or barely know the other guys. It's a reverse of most panels, with some unknown moderator and some of the biggest stars.
Why is Jerry acting like this? Why isn't he introduced last to the largest applause? Is my worldview incorrect?
I came here to post that but I don't want any. He looks like a complete douche.
If you woke up to Rebecca Rominjn every day, wouldn't you be excited? 😜
Looking forward to season 3. -- I'd like to see Caitians in the TAS style. (But I do like the idea that Dr. T'ana is this old alley cat, missing a tail, old lady.) Would love to see Edosians like Lt. Arex. -- And we need an in-joke about Quinn Mallory and Sliders. Maybe a wormhole and a timer? Something.
Sounds a bit Red Dwarfish the skateboarding girl vs officious useless ensign could well be Lister vs Rimmer
Fuck yeah!!! Beam me!!!, Up!!!
Niche, not "Nitch" 🤦
What's next, Star Trek - Plumber?
AKA Red Dwarf.
@@ChrisPage68 Was Red Dwarf a plumber?
A Star Trek show in the style of Rick & Morty, I'm not so sure it will work. From the images, it doesn't seem to have the same tone as TAS, which even though was cancelled early on, still felt like Trek and followed Gene Roddenberry's vision. I'll give it a go, but hesitant.
I feel like the moderator was a little forced...
Sliders was a long time ago - he is just glad to be working again ha ha 😎
Very little art shown, no clips, no release date.... not very informative.
Crazy Tom Cruise called.....should have wore black turtleneck...not the purple T-shirt
Ahem. Star Trek: The Next Generation season 7, episode 15, titled "Lower Decks" which is about 4 lower rank crew members and their experiences. Does Mike McMahon want to explain how he came up with the concept for this series again? I always thought that episode could be expanded to be its own series, but definitely not as a sophomoric animated comedy. Pass.
This also sounds a lot like Redshirts from John Scalzi but I'll reserve judment for when I see it
@@RPMarland yeah, what happened to hoverboards? But yeah, I suppose it COULD still be good but at the same time I haven't been shown a lot that gives me hope. Tendi and Rutherford both sound cool although I'm not sold on the idea of Rutherford being a cyborg. The two red shirts sound like the show is trying too hard to appeal to edgy teens. The bridge crew could go either way.
The art style looks awful...
bye bye Discovery i hope its your last season. this looks like another crap star trek show.. i counted 14 guest mics , this is that boring to watch
My apologies. Discovery is getting a 4th season
Not watching not needed. Picard and Discovery are good enough.
K
I'll watch for you.... Unless it sucks. Then I don't know who'll watch it. Lol
@@NALurking it did NOT suck
Jesus... how irritating is Jerry O' Connell..?
