Cody I think the word you were looking for was brackish. Our coast is lined with brackish water estuaries where we can catch both freshwater and saltwater fish in the same trip as y’all experienced.
If y’all are still in the area get some Chef Paul Prudhomme redfish magic seasoning. It’s so good on fresh fish blackened in butter like y’all cooked it.

What’s funny is that my parents both LOVE to fish. My Daddy tries and tries and tries, but my Mama is the true fisherman in our family. She catches a fish every time she had a pole in her hand, while my Daddy just keeps on trying. It’s a running family joke. To be clear, I’m like my Daddy. ;-D

Congrats Kellie!! I know you are now "hooked" on trout fishing. Catching speckled trout brings back so many beautiful memories for me. I started trout fishing in the early 50's in St Marks, Florida in the flats as a little girl. This Georgia girl was hooked. The size of the trout then was unbelievable. So much fun! We started out with mullet and would catch shiners, etc for cut bait and years later graduated to shrimp bait. We stayed in cabins at a fish camp and my mom would fry fish that evening with hush puppies. Trout was never my favorite fish to eat BUT the memories were priceless. I fished 40 years with my dad up until his passing and have only been one time since. That trip was bittersweet as I cried all the way out of the channel to the flats thinking of my dad. Happy fishing to both of you!

This is a priceless video. Kelly is so funny. 😂 I love you both and are so funny. Next time with the fish take buttermilk in a bowl and season the flour in another bowl. Dip back and forth a couple times. Make sure pat fish dry. You will love it this way.

My daughter first fishing trip was when she was five she was holding the pole out of the water and had not bait and a fish jumped out of the water and grabbed her hook. That was her first fish.

My dad loved to fish,sat there on the bank with 3poles,barely caught anything.mom was from mississippi,she knew how to fish.her and I went together sometimes.she would clean them and dredge them in flour and throw them in the frying pan and the would still be wiggling.thanks for the memories.hubby says he Likes it but never goes at least our son goes.i need to start going again.i just got a used kayak last year then broke my arm before I could get it wet.anxious to try this year,I am 68

Cody you know what this means , more fishing trips , the thing I did with the kids on teaching them to cast was take a small but off a bolt tied it up, and put hula hoops on the ground or make circles in the dirt and have them practice casting in to them , saved me a lot of tree time lol ,Kellie I wish you the biggest fish on ur next fishing trip , theres nothing like fresh fish , love the videos guys excited to see more !!!

I love this video tonight ya'all. Kellie I was just like you, had never fished and really never desired to till one day I went and it was a real adventure for me. I caught two cat fish and 1 big snapping turtle and then a alligator Gar fish. That freaked me out because it was swimming toward me and my brother yelled at me to get back and dont get by it. I didnt and I let his pole go for he told me to get away. lol Yeah but........ I still love fishing now and I dont eat fish but love catching it and I fry it up for whoever else. I roll mine in flour with seasoning or sometimes corn meal. Till the next time , next Thursday safe travels and much love.
Camping we always just did lemon and dill on trout.

Born and raised in and around this area. Fished the area that you were in and agree, the specs you ate are hard to beat. Also redfish is a great fish to bake. Making my mouth water thinking about it!
