Im a long time subscriber frim south Texas, when i saw the mesquite leaves in the beganing of your video, i sat up from my chair. Wait what! So glad ya"ll are enjoying it here. Todays weather just proves, you cant completely out run a badass cold front. Bundle up ya'll.
Port Aransas- “Port A” is a cool island town, Goose Island State Park in Rockport is also a great park for tent camping and kayaking. If y’all head to the hill country Garner State Park is gorgeous... everything is great in off season, watch out because come March everything is packed! Enjoy your time in my neck of the woods!
Hey Kelly, That new cast iron pan is really a griddle. Try making your pancakes, grill cheese on it a few times till it seasons. It may hold too much heat for crepes. I've been watching along time, but dont remember you making flour tortillas. That's what my Mom did everyday with her griddle. I have hers now in our camper, but in Iowa too cold to camp. Also, I season my cast iron 2X's a year. I rub crisco shortening all over it, wipe as much off as I can. The put in a low oven. You could just set it next to fire, let it heat up. Be sure they are dry when you out them away. Just a thought. I thought your crepes looked perfect with other pan. I think crepes are a skill to make. Sooo if it's not broken, don't switch pans!🍌🍓
Thanks for the info on the name of Corpus👍👍👍..7 years ago my daughter took a 3 month nurse traveling job in Corpus Cristi and I came along to watch my grandson. To this day I miss that place and Padre Island. I live in Ohio now but have lived in AZ and I still say Corpus is the only other place I would like to live. It thrilled me in your closing saying how you have fallen in love with the area. ENJOY!
Hola Cody and Kellie, you should also come further south to Brownsville, TX (like two hours south of Corpus). You will like it too. There is also South Padre Island like twenty minutes from Brownsville. There's fishing, surfing, water skiing, dolphin watching and so much more. It's also beautiful. Weather is great! I hope you visit! Thanks for the amazing videos. Kellie, thanks for the amazing recipes just simple and delicious!
It makes my heart happy to see y'all back in Texas!! My wife and I are definitely going to camp on the beach this year!! I"m hoping y'all decide to stay on the beach and show us how nice it is down there.
As I write this it’s in the 30’s there. I hope you are staying warm. I have camped many times there. Fish for crappie from the pier. It’s really good fishing and excellent to eat. I’m about two hours away from you.
Your videos just make me happy! You both are living your best life! If I was 20 years younger, I'd be living that life! Dome Life = Do Me life! Sending you lots of love for safe travels and health!
We go there every year, Padre Island National Seashore. We camp on the beach when we can, but Malachite Beach is our go to campsite. Love it there! Driving on the beach is a blast!
OMG! Even before you mentioned your location I felt a connection. My Air Force buddies and I use to bass fish there in a Bass Tracker. The best way to fish the lakes in South Texas is using an artificial worm lure, let it sink to the bottom and using your wrist gently jerk while reeling in your line. We caught many large mouth bass including one that weighed in at 8 pounds. Another great camping and fishing venue is Choke Canyon and you may see herds of beautiful deer. Actually, there are many lakes within a short drive from San Antonio. If you haven't visited the Riverwalk in San Antonio I highly recommend going...restaurants galore, shopping and touring the Alamo are super enjoyable. Awesome video! Kelly, that breakfast looked awfully good to me.
One of my buddies parked on the beach in Corpus Christi not realizing that the tide was out. We were enjoying catching channel catfish when Todd turned to look for his Jeep Wrangler. The water was nearly up to the bottom of his door. It was hilarious seeing him trying to run in the rising incoming tide. He was lucky that he checked his Jeep in time.
I figured where you were the other video. It was the trees, picnic table covers, and lake. Funny enough we took our "Family Picture" next to where you two are camping. Good times! Enjoy as much as you as you can.
Good evening Kellie & Cody, great to see you're enjoying Corpus Christi ! Thanks for sharing another great video ! Glad you had an opportunity to get out on the water & try some fishing. Fishing is more than hooking a fish, the best times are hookin memories ! Given your love for tacos you should treat yourself. Before leaving Texas you should try a Carne Guisada Taco, with some good salsa ! Keep the sand out of your eyes & keep smiling !
Waaaaay back in the 60’s, we camped on the beach at both Padre Island and Mustang Island. It looks like you can do exactly the same today. We loved, loved those vacations. There were also some cool places to eat in Port Aransas.
Way to go Cody and Kellie to decide to head to South Texas...... Try fishing out in Corpus Christi Bay.....you'll catch so much fish that your arms get tired....lol. I know you're in Mathis, TX. Try Robstown ,TX for some true (hole-in the -wall) Tex-Mex food. Deo-licicious !!! Have fun guys!!
Do y'all know padre island is the longest barrier island in the world, also sabal palm sanctuary is the southernmost point accessible to the public in texas, might be worth a gander. Just some fun facts, God bless y'all.
Come up to Dallas and stay at Cedar Hill State Park. They got mountain bike trails (my home trail ) and kayaking, well when it's warm enough. Let me know and I'll be glad to meet up to show you the trail.
I am from the corpus Christi area. We live in south Georgia now but it's nice seeing home again I'm glad yall like it. There's excellent fishing in Aransas pass
I love Corpus Christy, its awesome. And I never ate where I didnt like for real. And camping at Padre Island was so much fun. You all enjoy your journey and safe travels. Much love
Hubs and I enjoyed your live feed. We are fellow Arkansas nomads and we are staying up at Georgetown now, but will be down in that area in a few weeks. We just went to Big Bend and I highly recommend a trip there. It’s a camper/hiker’s paradise. We loved it! Other great COE parks to see are Rayburn park near Jasper, and Rocky Creek at Somerville lake near College Station. Kellie, I’m a foodie who likes to camp cook healthy food, also. 😊
Hi Kellie and Cody , Welcome to Tejas ! Corpus Cristi Lake is Beautiful , Thank You for sharing All your Awesome Adventures . If your thinking about place's to go next , I recommend Pace Bend Park on Lake Travis in Spicewood Texas . It's an Awesome place to Camp and Explore the Tejas Hill Country . It's a State Park with scenic camping sites along the cliffs overlooking the lake , and miles of sandy shores . It's an excellent place to set up camp , kayak , ride your bikes on the many trails , take some drone footage . not to mention the beautiful sunsets . Thanks Again an Safe Travels
Corpus Christi lake park is beautiful!. It has great fishing and camp grounds. I live in San Antonio but have gone to Corpus and surrounding area since I was little. Love going to Corpus bay areas and Port Aransas is just a hope skip away with the beach!. There is camping on the beach. And driving on it to. Have fun down here in south Texas and be safe!
I’m loving this South Texas series.. if you get a chance, you have to check out Neals Campground in Concan, Texas. Probably the most popular campground we have.. I’d love to see y’all’s opinion of it..
Of course I'm loving the video, but paused it to say, I'd run a pizza cutter through the tacos when they turn out like that. Other food too. Now I'm returning to the excitement you're providing.
We bought the same camp stove that you are now using. Soon, very soon we will start our camping adventures. We have a Spring trip scheduled in Garner State Park on the Frio River. We've visited Garner before but have never camped there, it is one of those beautiful Texas gems. Thank you for the inspiration!
Glad you guys are enjoying the Texas Gulf coast and will decide to try out dispersed camping on Padre, it's the best! Magnolia Beach is another nice spot, often less wind there but not as big of a beach and not wild like Padre. Phenomenal video, it's really nice to tag along and see how your lifestyle has a mix of off-the-grid camping, established campgrounds, hiking, kayaking, road touring, camp cooking and fine (but never ostentatious) dining. Safe travels!
So funny to see yall here in Mathis where I live ! Also my Old house was across Doddridge across from the Post. If yall need any suggestions ? Let me knew. Also National Seashore is fun to drive down to Mansfield cut. Great fishing.
And staying in the Texas coast you're not to far from your home Arkansas. We live here and have all our lives and will probably never move from Texas. Enjoy the stay and if you head south from there you can hit Padre Island area or Brownvile Tx it almost never gets cold there for sure.
I know what you mean about South Texas I am full-time and I am wintering down in Mission Texas on the Gulf of Mexico. I’m about 80 miles from South Padre Island but I’ve been over there twice and absolutely love it. The weather here is awesome and the food is definitely delicious. 👍🏻❤️
Hopefully did not miss out on the Laguna Madre fishing. That's the causeway before the island. Protected by the island the water is Pleasant for kayaking and has phenomenal fishing. Glad you enjoyed my city
May want to check out beach camping in Port Aransas and kayaking the bay between Port A and Corpus C. We like to kayak that area and watch the dolphins swim around us. We are currently in Brackenridge Camp ground near Edna. It’s a stunning location as well and really peaceful.
I’m just west of Ft Worth, almost to Weatherford.… it was 23 this morning with high wind, 35 was the high. Supposed to be colder tonight. Enjoy the weather down south!
Having basically grew up in That area, we called Costal Bend. Fished, camped & hung out at That lake quite bit, years back. The National Park didn't exist, when I use to go That area. We would travel to areas known as Big & Little Shell, fishing. BIL use to have a Bay cabin on Baffin Bay.
Love your choice of camping spot, looks wonderful! We have family in Corpus Christi, San Antonio, South Texas & we are in Waco.❤🌵 I really love Texas! If you're fishing make sure you have a license so Texas game wardens don't get'cha, just a heads up. 😎 Really enjoy watching y'alls journey.
I'm so jealous of the sun you have there! I was going to head south for the winter, but obligations kept me in the north. We just got done with a very, very cold week that fell below 0°F. It's finally getting into the 40's, which has me excited for spring.
Did you guys go to the USS Lexington? If not y’all should check it out in Corpus Christi and check out Texas State Aquarium. Y’all should check out Selena Quintanills Museum.
Your tacos looked delicious! You should have cooked the meat longer or decrease amount of water. Texas has some beautiful camp grounds. I'm even further south and you are and it's now the 22nd and we have some cold weather for us!!

Be sure to check out port aransas! I travel down there a few times a year and it’s awesome! Cool to walk out on the jetty and watch dolphins in front of the ships. Tons of great places to eat as well. My favorite of them all is mickeys over in aransas pass which is fun to take the ferry to.
It is fun to hear ya'll talk about doing things that I have done most of my life. Just a heads up ... you definitely do not want to be on South Padre Island during MARCH = SPRING BREAK...... then it is a totally different atmosphere.

Cool to know about the name Corpus Christy and the meaning. And yes it's damp cold in Florida in the winter, but can be super warm in the daytime.
